I'm glad I only started collecting after Yamato began producing the V2 VF-1's. Very fortunate to have started collecting during what can be considered the golden age of Macross figures. I think I bought well over a dozen Valks from Yamato. A shame I missed out on the Super Ostrich; was hoping they'd release a version with non-crumbly shoulder joints, but they went under before that could happen. It remains on of my holy grails. Just not worth evilbay prices--to me, nothing is worth paying scalpers for.
I know a lot of people praise Arcadia for "keeping the flames alive", but I just can't justify the kind of prices they're asking for their products.

Agamemnon wrote:Yeah, but just with the bridge, from what I can tell. It looks similar to the one we got from Matchbox all those years ago (sitting on my shelf) but not the same. I can't tell if it is a different size, but there are definite changes in Daedalus and Prometheus. A few other details, like the smaller gun turrets, look to be a little more defined too.
Not that there's much of a market for it, but I'd love for some 3rd party to make Armor 01 and Armor 10 that could fit on the arms of the old Matchbox toy and create a Macross movie feel...

stands more or less 7 to 8 inches. Was the matchbox version around the same size?

I...I...I would love that!
But, I'm pretty sure I would be single again if I bought one at that size....

Not a problem, you do have the internet.
Not sure I asked but for the 30th anniversary reissues of the 1/55th Valks did Bandai release fast packs?

There was on SDF-1 released by the defunct Yamato. It was the size of approximately that of Fortmax. Sold out like hotcakes would you believe?

Cripes, how much did that cost? I've been looking at some of the Macross movie versions which have been prohibitively expensive for me, and just at the 7-8" size area, if I remember correctly. One the size of Fort Max might have cost me my children...

I think it was a lot bigger, like twice the size. I'll try to pull it down over the weekend and put a tape measure to it.
