That's hardly a fair comparison, Beast Wars is almost 20 years old soon while CHMS stuff isn't even a year old. You might not have realised this, but stuff ages with time.

Funny, my CHMS seeker's chrome is very dull and smudgy looking. Then again I only have 2.

I don't know what you're doing to your Beast Wars toys but all of mine are fine. I even lucked into the Japanese Transmetal Megatron so I dodged the GPS bullet.

Ooh look what Ive spotted just over the road!

It appears the recent knock off of Maketoys Battle Tanker is getting a BotCon makeover!

Images from Meteor Operation via TFormers own Jack, show Invasion Ultra Magnus and Shattered Glass Optimus Prime all dolled up with a new dress and shoes!

I am less than surprised that these KOs have been repainted but the rather odd choice for a pair of very limited figures did leave me wondering the thought process behind the choices?

Also surprised no one covering the 3rd Party News Reporting didnt get this first... even Daimchoc! ;)
Apologies if my links have failed! http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=album&dispsize=600&album=18152&start=0&sl=

I like SG UM's battle tanker add-ons because it gives him the extra beef I expect of UM. Not sure if I splurge or not on it, but does look nice.

Ill be getting both of these. We already know the quality is almost the same as the Maketoys versions. My rule for trailer sets is to buy the original first. Then I get the KO for Shadow, DIA, SG, Crystal, etc. I hope they do one for Scourge too.

Additionally, this is good because it forces Maketoys to work on something new instead of another year of Battle Tanker repaints.

He offers up first crack there sometimes, too. And either way, even if that were accurate, it's still the first it gets posted here. If you're gonna knock it, what's it say about the news here if everything comes from there? I just don't understand why you'd discredit someone doing a valuable service to this site. I dunno, maybe you should make the guy a part of the news crew here instead of talking down his efforts that's beating you guys to the punch. Just sayin'...

I'd consider the Shattered Glass Optimus one just to make Toxitron but I'm going to pass. I have the KO of the regular one and highly recommend it.

1.) Sometimes they beat us to the punch, that's true, but not always. Sometimes we get them before they get us.
2.) There have been times when daimchoc gave us tidbits that came from sources other than TFW, quite a few, in fact.
3.) News crew additions are ultimately up to Seibertron and ElDuque. If they choose to pick someone for the crew, they do it. If not, then they have their reasons. (Just so we're clear, the news crew, the owner, the people behind the scenes.... No one has a grudge against daimchoc and we sincerely appreciate any and all news he gives us. We don't ignore the efforts put forth to help us.)
4.) Lost Cybertronian is entitled to his opinion, we don't dictate how or what a person feels. We might carry a title, we might represent the board, but we're all human first and have a right to our opinions, even if the rest of the staff may or may not agree with it.

I realize LC's post seems negative, but this is the internet and tone isn't always conveyed easily. He might've meant it in a different light and you might be reading into it too much. It works both ways.

Here's a guy who doesnt appreciate a bargin. If you like to spend double on overpriced repaints, be my guest. Id rather have the 50 bucks in my pocket.

So I have received my KO versions of Battle Tanker and decided to post some pictures to help people make their decision on whether to buy these or wait for the upgraded versions from Maketoys at almost triple the price. At Chimungmung.com these cost $50 each plus $15 shipping if you don’t need the box which is the same as the original, no new colors or graphics. They almost match the quality of the original Maketoys version, (which I own) except a few flaws. Some nitpickers might not like the flaws, but for me personally, they aren’t worth stressing or shelling out another $90 bucks for the upcoming official versions.

• The leg/boots take extreme force to slide into the bottom of the trailer and are almost impossible to get out without loosing the screws on the legs to unlatch from the slots. With that being said, if you don’t plan on using the tanker mode often, its no big issue.
• The KO comes with the old head without the screw. The one Maketoys told us to boil in hot water to make it fit. I know a lot of necks were broken forcing these heads on. With a small hand file, I shaved a little bit of the hole bigger and made the heads fit on with a nice easy fit. Not too tight, not too loose, and easy to remove without damaging the neck of your figure.
• No problems at all with the armor on the robot mode. Snaps on tight like the official version. L.E.D. lights worked fine but only came with one battery to keep it from turning on during shipping. Maybe if you buy the boxed versions it might have the 2nd battery. Beautiful yellow and clear glow on the large swords in the dark. Also included was the KO drift swords. The one with the Ultra Magnus set was especially nice with a blue handle, and goes great with Botcon Gigatron.
• There will be no pictures of the Ultra Magnus set on Botcon Ultra Magnus in robot mode. I found out the hard way that attaching the wrist clips will chip the paint on this expensive figure. DONT DO IT…You will screw up your figure !!! So instead I used RTS Laser Prime until I get my G2 Combat Hero Prime from BBTS. All other versions of this mold don’t have paint on the part where the clips attach so no damage will be done.
• While the upcoming Maketoys version has red wrists, the KO sports blue wrists and is much more accurate to the original image of G2 Laser Prime. You can even paint the face plate red since it’s just a KO without fear of devaluing your set. I never understood why people would want to use this mold as SG Ultra Magnus anyways. Isn’t that what D.I.A. Commander is for ?
• While the upgraded shoulders on the upcoming Maketoys version are cool, chances are they will probally be KOed too. We have seen KO black missile launchers for Shadow Commander, red KO Scythes for Protector, so in my opinion, these extra parts will probably fall victim to KOs too in a nice $20 set. And who attaches an RPG to a chain and starts swinging it around anyways ?
• These guys did a great job of adding extra details that go perfect with the Botcon figures. The blue and purple plastic were matched perfectly. Especially the faded silver on both looks great. And like it or not, the credit goes to the KO guys for coming up with these paint schemes. The official Maketoys versions was just a knee-jerk response to these KO’s.
• My Recommendation: Save $90 bucks and get the KOs. And don’t use it on Botcon SG Ultra Magnus unless you don’t care about chipped paint. That goes for the official versions too. The clips are just as tight.

Here are some pictures I took, as well as an image of G2 Combat Hero Prime which is what I think the Ultra Magnus version works best for. Enjoy…

Thanks for the pictures!

but I think I'm going to spend the extra money on the official upgraded SG magnus version. judging from your pics your KO SG Magnus when put with a regular prime looks kind of the same as a regular tanker with a laser prime.

That is correct. The Botcon Shattered Glass Ultra magnus is the only version of the mold with the forearms painted. (in red) All other versions of the mold have the forearms unpainted and are safe. You will chip and ruin the paint on your Botcon figure if you try to clip on the armor to these painted forearms. And that's with either the official Battle Tanker or the KO version. The clips are both equally tight. So the next best thing is to display this set on the Combat Hero Prime version of the mold. There is no paint to chip on the arms. But if you go that route, remember combat hero Prime has blue arms like the KO, not red like the Maketoys version will have. I have no intrest in pretending this figure is Ulltra Magnus. I have D.I.A. Commander for that.
