Not only that, the Guardians movies worked so well because of his influence. Stupid stupid move.
America. Land of the "free" indeed. Don't you know free speech only counts if it's positive for everyone?Burn wrote:What the ****? Seriously? Is society THAT **** sensitive that we now judge people on stuff they said a decade ago? Are people not entitled to a chance to change?

Okay, first let me make this clear: I think his comments regarding rape were despicable. I'm not sure what the point he was trying to make, but his comments were **** up. He definitely deserves punishment for it.Burn wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Doesn't China censor its people in a similar manner?
They're much worse, but at least you know it's coming.
Western society? Yeah, all you have to do is look at someone and they're suddenly offended and the PC Police are after you. What pisses me off the most about this situation is Gunn came out in support of someone, those who were attacking the bloke didn't like that so they went after Gunn and trolled through 10 years of tweets to dig up stuff that has now cost him his job.
How many of us said and did stupid stuff in our younger days? Hell, most of us do still do and say stupid stuff but we're a little more mature about it.
nah, this is seriously **** up.

Rodimus Prime wrote:Why didn't Disney/Marvel's PR or HR department do their due diligence in backgrounding him before hiring him for the first GotG? I mean, the tweets were public, it's not like they had to dig for them. Also, like you said, it was over 7 years ago. People change in that time. I think Disney is just playing it safe (i.e. gutless) to appease the liberal climate in Hollywood. It's sad, really.
The first GotG came out in August 2014. That means it most likely started preproduction in late 2012, which means Gunn probably signed on in the summer of 2012. The last of the offending tweets were supposedly from 2011. That's not far back. So Marvel dropped the ball.Burn wrote:They probably did do their due diligence but went "well this is in the past" and moved on.

Disney/Fox Merger Officially Approved
X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool are "coming home". Hopefully they don't censor Deadpool.
So there's a chance, however slim, that we might see the original Secret Wars on the big screen in the future. Perhaps once the Avengers have worn out their welcome on their own.Burn wrote:This seems to have slipped under the radar.

I got burned out on the Marvel movies, the last film I saw was Thor: Ragnarok. I missed out on Spider-Man: Homecoming, black panther and Avengers: Infinity War. While I have no intention of ever seeing black panther, I'll probably catch the other 2 by the time their sequels come out.

Black Panther was actually good, just not as good as the media claims it to be.
