Barely.
On the other hand, my wallet does appreciate the long breaks....

Look closely at that picture, you can see the "feathers" gathered together inside.

Wasn't the upcoming Sentinel hinted at being a not so good guy?

I agree with you, mostly. I think MakeToys version looks better in armored mode & in alt mode. However, I think this version has a better looking base figure & since I missed out on the first version of Hyper Novae, I'll get more figure for my buck with this release than MT's on the secondary market. The Chosen Prime has a waiting list for MT's Nova but it's for $200. MMC's is bigger & cheaper than that with the early bird preorder.
All that said, I'll be happy enough with this guy. Looks fun & represnts a character I'm not emotionally attached to well enough. The movie prime-styled armor base for him to step into is really speaking to me.

Yeah I have him. I just like how the armored mode matches Don's design. I cant put my finger on it, but something is off about this one from MMC. I have their Sixshot and Impactor and I will get the DJD and those designs are spot on. I understand how people will go for this since for one it's much larger and basically for less than $200 you will get more for your money in terms of size. I hope it pleases everyone but the look of it is off.

I think there is something slightly off - proportionately - with the head, like it is too tall or too wide in normal form or something.

I agree. I need to see it in a reviewers hands then I can speak and decide. There are some things on the MT version I didn't like was the screw of pain, the thin plastic that holds the armor/wings, and having to add those clear orange parts to the wings. I bled on my fingers pushing in those parts. Plus it's unbalanced and very hard to get back into alt mode. However it looks right, it's got heft, and the plastic is very dense for the remainder of the toy.

On closer examination, I think the real culprit is the optical illusion created by the trapezoidal ab section. Combine that with the 'standard' sized pelvis, and the rapidly decreasing angle of his abs makes his chest and head 'seem' extra large/wide.
As you can see here, the head looks fine proportionately, however, the abs look very out of place, being as wide and weirdly angled as they are.

He looks like he's wearing a space suit, in a another space suit to me. It's really not Novae Prime at all. It has the elements, but it strays too far from the character. I wanna like it because the size is right on, but the design is something...I just cant find the words.

Yeah, I love the truck mode, but it's too much, and doesn't look like my idea of what Nova should look like.
If it ain't this, I probably won't care
