My other two TF friends, having seen BEE 2.0 and the outrageous prices of Overpriced Prime and BB himself, have turned their backs on MP figures altogether. Both diehard Geewun fans.
The line is called "Masterpiece", as such the figures should look like something so well made it earns that moniker. This figure could be part of SIEGE and wouldn't look out of place. That's not a slight against SIEGE, just the lack of finesse with this "MP" BB.

This figure does not deserve to be called 'Masterpiece', either officially or unofficially. It's overpriced, under-engineered, has some paltry accessories. A nigh-total fail.

I agree, it feels like they should have done better and could have. Hound was shown to us in JULY and here we are 7 months later and he's still just a gray prototype. I really feel he got pushed back, and maybe Bee was shoved in front of not just him, but Blackarachnia too. I think it was supposed to go Hound -> BA -> Bee, but they moved him to get released right after Prime

What's even weirder with Hound is that we HAVE seen painted samples already! We've had great at-show pics of him for months! And now they've gone back to showing him in gray, unpainted plastic. What the heckin' heck is going on?

The gray is actually primer, not plastic. They paint the figures gray to give them a uniform look instead of whatever random colors they molded them out of. We've even seen examples in the past of Takara Tomy painting Hasbro figures gray before they were ready to show off their own color schemes.

This toy... it's bad. Beyond the transformation that doesn't even do the job of hiding chunks of car where they have no business being - the arms are too short and the face looks even less accurate than the original Masterpiece.

At the very least I'll be able to catch the original Masterpiece on Facebook or something now.

Ok so this is going to be pure hyperbole, but does anyone ever get the impression "they" are playing mind games with us? Like they are trying to desensitize our expectations?

For example, I was looking at one of those "expensive" non-transforming statues the other day (probably around $200) and I thought to myself that normally for that price I'd expect it to transform. That's when I realized that my expectations have been shifted.

I always thought like this, which is mostly why I never buy non-transforming figures or statues (The Imaginarium Arts Arcee may be an exception )

In the end, it all boils down to a few things: your preference, your income, and your attachment to the character

Because I always thought MP-21 was perfect.
Yes I do think the vehicle mode is kind of cute, and the fact it comes with the "I NY" license plate is cool, and that Spike can fit inside of him is nice.....but that robot mode is.....terrible, especially the feet....I could forgive the back kibble if the feet were done better.
I would have preferred if they did a Goldbug Masterpiece if they were going to give Bumblebee another Masterpiece, and I don't mean MP-21 painted gold (cause that was already done), I mean one designed as the animation model of Goldbug .
Also I guess this could open a door for a Cliffjumper in the Masterpiece line, since his vehicle mode is also SD/Chibi like.
And where the hell is a Masterpiece of GALVATRON !!!!!

I did and was disappointed when I saw the real like alt mode of MP21.

Yes (well not the price, see below). I feel if this mold would have been announced as CliffyJ (with a SD Porsche shell) it would have been better received. Hell it may have even been well received because it wouldn't have been another redo that didn't necessarily make any improvements.

I'm already on the 3P/KO boat half way to China because of pricing and toon aesthetic.

I did have high hopes for MP45 and it is warming in me but the price feels too high, even at 50% off it still feels high for a MP character I already own. I am still hoping they go forward with this style of MP minibots. I've already ordered a cheap 3P CJ, so how about Swerve next
