Wily based Zero on the design of MegaMan X.

Therefore, Zero is a reploid.

IIRC that is how reploids are described in the manual for the first X game, X was a new type of robot that actually had free will rather than the simulated almost free will of the original series.

Reploids were Machines that had true free will like X, but were loosely based on his design. In fact IIRC Dr. Cain said he fully didn't understand lights notes so they are actually quite different from Light's design. How closely Wily followed Light's plans is up to debate.

As for the Mavericks that appeared before Zero's activation. It is possible that they truly hated humans freely as they have free will and except for the fact that they are machines are no different from humans. It is also possible Zero had been spreading the virus for a long time before he was active.

That's just a theory. But, it's the theory that most fans accept.

I mean, it's really plausible. Wily steals Light's designs (and designs by other scientists) all the time. He's pretty freaking lazy.

MM1: All of the robot masters were built by Dr. Light and reprogrammed by Wily.
MM2: Capcom has stated that many of the robot masters in MM2 were based off of the original RMs' designs. Crash Man is based off of Bomb Man, Metal Man is based off of Cut Man, Quick Man is based off of Elec Man, etc.
MM4: Wily reprogrammed the Cossack bots.
MM6: Wily reprogrammed the robots from the tournament.
MM7: Wily stole the Rush Power Adaptor design from Light for Bass.
MM&B: Wily reprogrammed civilian robot masters.
MM Arcade Series: Wily sent various old robot masters instead of building new ones.

On a different topic, it's pretty scary that Wily, one of the most evil humans up until Weil, could build a badass like Zero. I mean, come on! He's the second most powerful character in the WHOLE FREAKING CONTINUITY!

While it is never said Wily used X's plans to build Zero, I believe it has been mentioned that his construction was similar to X's like other reploids.

Wow, cool... Mega Man discussion.

I do wish the franchise would go back to some of the earlier stuff. I don't begrudge the newer stuff to people who want it, but I'd really like to see them, y'know, FINISH some of the stories. It's been ten years since Mega Man 8, and I strongly suspect the classic series will get no more sequels(regardless of if you count Mega Man and Bass). Maybe there's a trend of stopping at 8 for all the series... but that means we should get 6 more Legends games.

I'll actually be weird and say Command Mission is my favorite game, because I love the way it expanded the Mega Man X universe. Plus, Marino is awesome. You also have to love Mark Gatha as X(but then again, I'm also a G Gundam nerd, and loved him as Domon, especially as the series went on).

As far as favorite bosses... I used to go by the nick Slashman online, but that went by the wayside when questions I got kept getting weirder and weirder. Still, he's a cool character. Shademan and Fireman are great classic characters. And you can't beat Storm Eagle in the X series.

Cool to see a few Transfans are also MM fans.

MegaMan X8 and MegaMan X: Command Mission will go down as the only MegaMan games with decent voice acting.

Screw you, MegaMan X4!

There is no trend. Legends ended at 2, Battle Network ended at 6, and Zero ended at 4.

X4 at least had much better voice acting than MM 8. Of course, 8 didn't really have that much voice acting/story in comparison. At least in Zero's case, X's story stunk in X4. Actually, I think Capcom just kinda didn't care about X after X4, cause it's a lot more fun(and in some cases a bit easier) to be Zero in X4-X6.

Haven't gotten X7 or X8 yet, mostly cause I kinda got a little burned out on the X Collection, so I don't know if it's still more fun to play as Zero than X in them.

One thing I was wondering, does Zero's ending in X6 tie into the MM Zero games(haven't played any of those), cause they mention an exact date he was supposed to wake up, and that's 100 years later, which of course is when Zero is supposed to take place if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, my bad as far as the end of the handheld series... I've not really kept up with them, as I don't really do any handheld gaming.

I really wish they'd done more than the one X animated segment. That's a series that could lend itself to a good animation adaptation(then again, I remember the Ruby-Spears cartoon, so maybe I shouldn't wish such a horrid fate upon it).

BUMP.

Well, if they handle it like The Day of Sigma, we could have some awesome, Toonami-level Megaman X anime. I mean, the series packs so much story that the plot of TDoS could have been made into several episodes. That would be one awesome show, and I even considered sending a letter to Capcom saying that an X series show would be awesome. Then I realized that they wouldn't listen to my suggestion since they would have made it a series already if the wanted to.

Anyway, we're approaching the release of ZX Advent and Star Force here in the States. ZXA is coming in October, I believe, and Star Force comes out in August. Anybody looking forward to these new games?

And here's a question:
Do you think that the ZX series will keep changing characters, or will they settle with the characters of Advent?

Indeed. I love his dialog right before the last fight with Sigma. When he says," I WILL DEFEAT YOU SIGMA!!!!" It gets me pumped & ready to take names & kick ass....& throw in a couple of "Woohoo!!"s.

Anywho....favorite games....

Probably MM2, MMX, MM4, both PSP games, & oddly enough, Network Transmission.

As far as story's concerned....I try not to think about it....it makes my head hurt.

The only real problem I ever had with it was the main area of the game that you have to naviate through to get to the individual "boss" areas.....but it was just because it was all interconnected & confusing. Personally I would have perferred it to be a bit more linear like the classic & X series are. Other than that, it was pretty good.

Megaman 2, Zero 4, Legends, and the first Battle Network are probably my favs.

As for X7, avoid it like the plague. It makes X6 look like a masterpiece.

Hell, IIRC in at least one of them(it's been a while since I've played the PS2 games) X isn't even a main character...more like a bonus unlockable one. Other than that you just play as Axl & Zero. I mean seriously, what's the point of calling the game Mega Man X when Mega Man X isn't the focus of the game? They should have called it Mega Man Axl.

That would be X7.

X8 had a slight sweetness to it, partially because you could once again play as X from the start. Also, it had good voice acting, something which MegaMan never experienced before.

One thing to me that is kinda weird about the guy voicing X.....every time I hear his voice I think of his "This hand of mine is burning red" line from G Gundam.

It's really great in Maverick Hunter X since he calls out his attacks before using your secondary weapons.

"This hand of mine is burning red.....it's loud roar tells me to grasp victory!! STORM TORNADO!!!"

X7 was completely bad, even the story. Basically, X went all emo again (NO! I refuse to fight! Why do we have to fight? I AM A REPLOID MURDERER! WAAAAAAHHH!!!) to the point of running away from home. Then Axl and Zero have half of a "totally amazing adventure!!!" and then X snaps out of his emo mood and helps fight once again. As if he wasn't whiny enough, X had to run away from home like a whiny little brat. Lame.

The gameplay sucked, too. Whoever suggested 3D should be fired.

On a lighter note, Star Force and ZX Advent come out this fall for the DS. Anybody looking forward to them?

OH YEAH =P~ Especially Star Force. I love the MM:BN series. I'm a bit less interested in ZXA, cuz so far ZX was just like the Zero series, gameplay wise. Hopefully, they change it up a bit. I wanna see the story's progression though. I'm interested to see this lead in to Legends.

Any word on when the RM:PM book is coming stateside? I heard it was supposed to, it was even on Amazon. :-?

Anyone know if Maverick Hunter X is still in stores? GameStop/EB Games doesn't list it on their website. Nor does Toys 'R Us, Target, Meijers, Wal*Mart, or any big retailer. Just small-time websites.

I want this game so badly.

The easiest way, however, is to look for it used. Go to EB Games, Gamestop, Rhino, or wherever. They'll most likely have it used.

I stopped getting used games where I can. I had a lot of problems playing Oblivion from a used copy, didn't even know about the problems untill about 2 months or so afterwards, because the game was so long, & by then any kind of return plan was expired. Even after I got the disk resurfaced it had problems & would constantly crash if I talked to the wrong person in the game. Buying used is may save you a few bucks, but at the same time you're taking on all the problems the guy prior to you had.

& with a game that has as many glitches as Transformers has, you want as few problems as you can get....

I got Mega Man MHX. Oddly, I got it used. (I didn't see the above post)

I'm having a helluva good time. I SHOULD save some game play because I have a roadtrip with my family coming Saturday, but by then I'll probably have Vile's Story and Day of Sigma to look forward to.

(I've already seen Day of Sigma, but it was a really crappy YouTube version)
