Seriously, though....even the fact that he's more than $100 over the MSRP of TR Overlord, Carnifex is just so AWESOME.

I don't own him myself (yet) but I'd say go for it. He's one of Bobby Skullface's favourite toys ever- and that guy is SUPER critical.

Being unimpressed with the hasbro offering, I decided to bite on this guy as my last tf purchase for the year. And oh my gawd, he is a thing of sheer beauty. I haven't transformed him out of robot mode yet, but his robot mode is so well done. Crazy poses, beautiful sculpting, he just oozes personality. He is magnificent.

Also, for some reason, I had this playing when I opened him and it just seems to fit the figure.

I unfortunately can't really afford him... which is why seeing the TR version was painful. I mean the TR version objectively doesn't look terrible or anything; but for me he just... doesn't look the part. He doesn't quite fit; doesn't quite give me what I want.

I kinda knew Carnifex was always gonna be better, but I would have settled. Unfortunately TR Overlord doesn't do it for me to the extent I can't settle

im waiting to see what takara does with him. maybe make him taller and add stuff

Thing is Takara's likely - for obvious reasons - to take steps towards his Masterforce incarnation. And of course there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I'm really happy for Masterforce fans in that event... it's just sad that Hasbro didn't give us the IDW version of the character and instead went for what will essentially just be an inferior version if Takara does go the extra-Masterforce route.

But yes, THAT is precisely why Carnifex is so much more appealing now. He absolutely oozes LSOTW/MTMTE Overlord in every nook and cranny. Again, I would have been fine to just get one which looked decently close to IDW Overlord and had the lips, but TR didn't do that so it's this dude or bust.
And when I say bust, I'm referring to my bank account. :-(

See what Takara did for their TL Hotrodimus, Cha and Sharkticon sets? Not to mention Ginrai. Maybe, just maybe, their Overlord will come with 2 Headmasters. Though how they gonna retcon that since Mega and Giga are already dead. I have a feeling Takara might go for a psycho face and a non psycho face. (In Masterforce, after Z killed Mega and Giga, Overlord sorted a psycho face).

Yeah, they made them more accurate to the versions of those characters Japan is familiar with (though even then they got Kup's colour completely wrong). Hence, if they're going to do something similar for Overlord; they'll make him much more similar to his Masterforce incarnation. Which is great and awesome for those who want him, but I'm after an IDW Overlord, so it wouldn't be for me.
