If it's a moral question, and a moral question only, then yes I would. I would practically have to do it, since the realization of Skynet would lead potentially to the death of billions. I know what happened in the movie, and I understand that Cloud business. But, if I can kill the guy who builds the thing that would otherwise wipe out humanity, I have to kill him. Yeah, I could try and talk him out of it, since that worked in a movie, but if this were happening in the real world, it wouldn't be the same as a movie. So, yeah, I'd do it.

Edit:

Yes, I'd ultimately be alright knowing that I killed a person if it lead to the saving of the entire human race. I do not condone murder in any form or fashion, I can't try to force out some edgy answer like "people suck anyway, who cares". Given the scenario here, kill one person and stop the deaths of everyone else, it seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Problem is we would have no way of knowing that killing him would stop sky net. So no I wouldn't do it as there's possibly more bad results then good out of killing him.

But there is also the grandfather paradox that would eat away at the back of mind.

It's a tough thing to ponder.

A few years ago, a guy tried to carjack me, and I pulled my gun on him. I've never been so utterly terrified in my whole life. To this day I don't know if I could have pulled the trigger, and I'm so very thankful the guy turned tail and ran away, so I didn't have to find out.

I would definitely give him a hug. He's going to need a lot of emotional support for nearly wiping out humanity.

What kind of hug, though? If it's the awkward side hug, is it really going to do much?

The kind of hug that lasts too long, drawn out and is a lot of awkward.

If a guy gets a boner from hugging you, it's safe to say that he wants to be more than friends.

Based on the hypothetical situation put forth, we can probably assume the guy who created mankind's death sentence is merely an acquaintance or something less, and he's not somebody I would share a close bond with. Friendboning would be an inappropriate gesture. He already is going to feel terrible when he receives the news. I just want to make him feel awkward, not violated.
