Blade Runner 2049 was... something. I liked it, in a way. But I didn't find it amazing. But it didn't suck either, but it left me with no real feelings on it.

It wasn't a movie I would see myself, but I went with a friend, so it was alright. I won't buy the DVD or whatever, but no regrets seeing it.

If any of that jumble makes sense

**sigh** oh well.... :(

must just be me that's going to binge watch season 2 then ;)

So my university loaned out its biggest teaching theatre to anyone who wanted to watch ST2. Needless to say I sat there for a 12:00-10:00 snackfest bingeathon.

Look! at this early stage, there's nothing to suggest that he won't! but I hope when the next Terminator movie comes out...directed of course by James Cameron...that he keeps the look of Skynet in it as that pyramid

The only things wrong with Salvation were the jackass who directed it couldn't keep his mouth shut and the self-absorbed d-bag who starred in it is one of the most overrated actors in the history of movies. I still remember the director saying "This is what's gonna take down Transformers," referring to RoTF coming out a month after Salvation, and what happened? RoTF made 3 times the box office. Too bad it wasn't a better movie.

Did ya like Stranger Things? Go watch Dark!

Actually I think comparing it to Stranger Things isn't even fair. Way more interesting and much better pacing.

Watching Dark is like

This gave me serious goosebumps. I'm not sure if the music is part of the new score or a repurposed classical piece, but ugh, that last violin part during the title made me shiver. :-s

About time they add in the Carnotaurus and Suchomimus.

Supposedly we are getting a new species of Raptor courtesy of InGen as hinted towards the end of the pevious film.

Time to dust off this old thing...

Went to see the new Death Wish last night. It was pretty good, a bit of improvement over the original. I thought it was still missing something, but overall I recommend it, it was fun for the most part. Considering the times, it was put through the PC wringer, but it was still enjoyable.

Ohai, my kind of thread.

Err, I...uh, I don't have time to scroll through this thread to see what's already been recommended, so forgive me if any of this crap has been already recommended by others. I'll share some of my favorite TV Shows first, and I'll try to avoid spoilers for those who want to invest in these mediums.

The hands-down best series I've ever watched has got to be Avatar: The Last Airbender. A fantastic combination of masterful characterization, storytelling, and mythology, with well-explored themes of spirituality, the effects of war, genocide, and governmental corruption, and considering it tells the absolute best character arc of anything ever in series antagonist Zuko, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a piece of art. Practically everyone who's watched the show through-and-through has given it a BJ or two. I'm highly critical of storytelling, and not a show seems to go by me without having enough episodes to create a Top 10 Worst Episodes list, but Avatar? There's like...one REALLY bad episode...a mediocre one....and then just 8 other episodes that range from rather good to damn good. Not even joking. I tried to make a "Top 10 Worst Avatar Episodes", and I found myself picking up episodes that are objectively well-written by around the fourth slot working back. It's incredible how well the show always cleaned up behind itself. It's dramatic, exciting, deep, emotional, funny...it's just got the perfect balance of everything in it. Funny, how balance is part of the show's overall theme. Goddamn...I can't recommend that show ENOUGH. Avatar: The Last Airbender is just a masterpiece.

Anyone here seen the English Dub of Ghost Stories? It's an anime that did pretty poorly in Japan, so when given an English dub, the dubbers were given absolute creative freedom to do whatever they wanted. In doing so, they turned this piss-poor anime into an OFFICIAL ABRIDGED SERIES, transforming the whole thing into this brilliantly written comedy. Literally every other line is this meta-reference or jab at American culture, and they even reconstruct entire characters to be this ruthless stereotype. It's one of the funniest shows I've ever watched, and probably stands as the best English Dub ever. It's pretty R-rated so, for any hypersensitive liberal arts majors out there, you're probably better off watching Moffat's Doctor Who, but if you're curious, look up "the greatest scene in anime history" on YouTube. It's golden.

Speaking of Doctor Who, that's a show I used to like when I was a kid. Except Steven Moffat is a terrible writer. Like, I hate him with a passion. He has no clue how to write a story arc, handle a character, or do anything worth investing in. It's such a bad show now.

One of my favorite movies is Holes (2004). It's a surprisingly intricate and well-written movie for something aired by Disney, which has become the juggernaut of standardized pop storytelling in recent years. A lovable cast with a really rich, interesting story, great acting and cinematography, and a good sense of humor as well, that will always be one of my favorite movies. But, I'll be honest, I'm always more invested in a show than a film when it comes to masterful storytelling. That's why I appreciate comedy films much more than any other genre of film. In comes South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut and Deadpool (2016), two of the best comedy films in existence. South Park is a really great, incredibly smart comedy show, but I feel like its 1999 film was a magnum opus. I could turn that on any day for a laugh. Also, Deadpool is just godly. A perfect balance of comedy and action, a little bit of drama, with tons of brilliant witty dialogue and meta-references for the comic book nerds, that film just took me by complete surprise. I'm not that keen on films of the modern era, so for Deadpool to just sweep out of nowhere...goddamn...I'm patiently awaiting that sequel.

I don't want this post to be a hundred paragraphs, so I'll cap it here for now. I'm looking into getting into shows like Batman: The Animated Series and Moral Orel. Anyone ever seen those? Are they as good as everyone says they are?

I saw that one last week, and it was a lot of fun as well. Amazing how much action can be crammed into an hour and 40 minutes when that pesky backstory isn't necessary (due to it being in the first film).

Made the trip to see Ready Player One today, was hyped to see it because the book was **** fantastic.

The movie not so much. The core of it was the book, but so much was changed from the challenges (most of them revolved around 80's games which would have been lost on modern audiences) to what 80s pop culture appeared (I would imagine that had something to do with licensing) to specific plot points (book has Wade go into IOI not Artemis)

It was a decent movie, but I think most of the best bits were featured in the trailers. Overall though I was left a bit disappointed as it wasn't the 80's retro trip that I was hoping for.
