They should have made Soundwave MP-03

Get it? Cause he's a ...and it's the...aww never mind.

I'm happy they licensed Lambo for Sideswipe. I'm betting they might add an energon cube with Soundwave

My sources say that future cassettes will be released in two-packs. With the eventual Soundblaster release.. well you can guess which cassette that will be.

No I also agree with this to I've said it in the past that hasbro is gonna finally relize we will pay over the top prices for the figure we truely want I just don't think sideswipe and red alert are some of those top priority figures.

How the hell are you mad about these Masterpiece releases? Did you ever know that for a long period of time (between Grimlock and Hot Rod, 2009-2011), the fandom was left in agony in the possibility that the Masterpiece line was dead?

You do realize with these short releases in a shorter period of time that means we are going to get more Masterpiece toys. And the fact that we are getting such a dynamic mold in the Lamborghini, that it means we'll likely get other G1 Masterpieces who had real life alternate modes?

With the release of Red Alert and Sideswipe means that every member of the G1 cast is getting their fair share of candicicy for the MP line. Holy Hannah, be thankful MP-12 isn't a bloody Volkswagen.

And honestly? That's your logic? Hasbro's finally learning that we'll pay big prices? Please, they've known it for a very long time. As fans we're suckers. We'll buy anything.

Very pleased that the MP releases are due to come out more frequently.

Disappointed that MP-14 will be almost the same as mp-12.

Pleased that I won't be needing to buy three Masterpieces in a three month period.

Not surprised at all at the price increase but pleasantly surprised that it's still only a similar price to the previous Primes.

Very excited that I'll have a Masterpiece figure in time for my December birthday.

Don't bank on it. Expect delays. Plenty of them.

I'm quite happy for you guys to have something to enjoy and complain about, but I've already got my Alternators Sideswipe, and thats all these are anow are glorified ALt/BTs. Granted, Soundwave might actually be worth calling a Masterpiece, but not as a cassette player.

considering the 2nd hand prices for some of the earlier Classics-verse figures, which are only Deluxe size and nowhere near as well-engineered or geewun in looks as this upcoming Sideswipe...and considering that he's out with Soundwave soon to follow, and not that long after the retooled Starscream...and that, iconic as he might be, he's pretty far from one of the most requested of the G1 lineup...

I'd say the price is good, as is the prospect that we'll be getting a lot more MPs. I don't know that I'll get SS, but I'm happy about his release.

I don't understand why a few folks are freaking out over this announcement. This is not tragic news. As others stated already - I hope this means we get these figures more frequently.

And I hope Laserbeak is a slightly larger tape to allow more detail and flexibility. BBTS has MP Soundwave for $140.

Anyone else notice BBTS description for Sideswipe?

Sideswipe’s overwhelming combat prowess and casual disregard for fair practice rival those of his twin brother, Sunstreaker, while lacking the element of Sunstreaker’s vindictiveness. Sideswipe’s fearlessness fuels a compulsory headlong rush into any battle, and he is often wounded by his own excesses. His greatest source of pride is his rocket pack, which enables him to fly for up to 2 minutes. Sideswipe’s reflexes are drastically heightened by quantum reflex processors. His arms can be utilized as piledrivers, and he is capable of firing flares that are visible for 18 miles.

Are they hinting that Sideswipe will come with piledrivers and a jet pack?

I'm not really mad it's just not that great to me. Like soundwave might be cool and it's ok that sideswipe is an mp and its cool he is lisence by Lamborghini but to make mp 14 the same as 12 sucks. He should be 12-a. But really thinking about it what's the difference between the seeker releases and this nothing so I've changed my mine I'm fine with it. And hasbro gets the suckers to buy anything that's right suckers have fun with that crapy pcc bruticus lol

And I'm not talking about mp-10 I love that figure I'm talking about mp-12 and 14 and I know they are more to scale but $80 for a small voyager is a lot for a figure that size. And yes I know 3rd party cost that much but they are not a huge corporation. I guess you can look at it like this ones Walmart and the other is your corner store. The corner store can't buy bulk so they don't get discounted prices and have to charge more for the items they sell. These companies can't take a little loose for the happiness of their customers

i completely agree with you about how it's wrong to take articulation away from figures in order to give them spring loaded weapons and what not. the new phase 2 captain rex has no wrist articulation, or knees, or ankles.. i'm surprised his elbows bend at this point.

but i don't think you're understanding what i'm saying about price. all takara figures cost more.. from deluxe to masterpiece figures, they're all more expensive. now if you wait for the hasbro release it'll probably be around $35-$40 rather than $80.. which to me, for a collectors figure at TRU is reasonable. you're just commenting on takara's pricing which is high, it's an import after all.

red alert is necessary.. when it's all said and done, i'm hoping we get all of the G1 cast. i don't see why red alert is a problem, he'll have a new paint scheme, a different launcher, and a new head. .. he's not "taking a slot" from anyone. and i'm not sure if you know this, but there are A LOT of repaints in the original show, and with the original toy line. since they have the sideswipe mold ready.. why wouldn't they just get red alert out of the way? ? it just makes too much sense. i honestly don't know what you're problem with this is. .. plus we're getting a soundwave. 3 new MP figures, 2 new MP molds in one year.. i don't believe that happens very often.

basically it's like them releasing an MP ironhide and the next one is ratchet with an MP galvatron being released around the same time.. would you complain that you don't want the ratchet because it'll just be a repaint? .. no, because ironhide and ratchet are their own characters. it's not like they're releasing a "stealth sideswipe". they're releasing a prominent character from the show.

this argument just seems kind of pointless.. i'll say this if they were doing an mp "stealth sideswipe" and giving it it's own number rather than a letter.. i'd agree with you. but it's a completely different character. and like i said, it just makes too much sense.. why put it off when they can just release it now.

I know one of my last comments a while back was I really thought about it and it's no different than the seeker molds. I guess I was really hoping it was gonna be ultra Magnus with trailer that turns o him armor but I cab only dream lol. And they had already mentioned red alert when they officially announced soundwave and then they said mp-14 will be announced in a couple weeks but they kinda already announced him they just didn't say his number so that's why when I read it was red alert I was kinda bumed out

It would be good if Sideswipe has jet pack. I think in one of the early G1 episodes sideswipe lent Optimus Prime his jet pack to chase the decepticons. So it makes sense to have a jet pack that would fit both MP-12 and MP-10. If that's the case that might explain why MP-12 is Sideswipe.

It would be super great if MP-13 Soundwave is also a working mp3 player (like the Music Label) with room for cassette figures. Music Label soundwave is a good figure, but not a good mp3 player with very basic mp3 functions; it uses a miniSD card with no room for cassettes. If would be great if MP-13 updates the technology.

The BBTS price is a customer appreciation deal. Any change to the price other than lowering it, would be them going back on a promise and I'm sure they would lose a lot of customers. I doubt BBTS is that dumb.

But I can see the price goin up on the preorder AFTER the Tokyo Trade show. So it would be wise to pre order it now to get the better deal. :CON:

just got the email, BBTS going from 139.99 - 169.99$
If you have a preorder though, it's only going up to 159.99, and they are absorbing the 10$.

30$ for a lazerbeak, better be able to play music for that price.

Just received the email.

Nice how they blame the cost on Laserbeak. How can they release a G1version of Soundwave without a cassette? That's just a stupid thought.

U.S. merchants - oh hey look, Soundwave comes with a cassette.... I didn't know that.

Dumb asses.

Still keeping my preorder regardless. But wonder how many pre orders they will lose. :HEADHURTS:

I think BBTS are handling this in the best possible way they are able to. Considering Takara finally now set the retail price at a much higher price-point than was initially expected, BBTS can't be faulted for adapting their pre-order price, which, even at $169.99, is very reasonable considering the USD to yen rate. Granting the early pre-orders (including, like my pre-order, the ones that were made AFTER the price-hike was announced) an extra $10 is above and beyond, as far as I'm concerned: BBTS were under no obligation to do so at all.
BBTS is a business and not a charity, and I'd advise anyone who doesn't like these new BBTS prices to cancel their pre-order so as to find better prices.

I agree BBTS is giving an extra break for those who preordered early like I did. Yea $20 for Laserbeak kinda sucks, but BBTS is letting us get it for $20 instead of $30. A company like that doesn't have to do anything they could of charged the extra $30 and thats it. Be greatful there were getting something out of this!!!

I appreciate BBTS sending out emails with an explanation and trying to be transparent about the cost and the price. I wasn't too shocked about the price increase. And if it seemed too high, I would have canceled and waited it out for the Hasbro version.

IMO the reason behind the explanation was fail. I don't mind the increase either but say it was due to the Takara increase and not because you just found out you're getting Laserbeak. It's just dumb to NOT expect Soundwave to come with a tape.
