Well it's been a loooong time (and many attempts) but I've finally put together a kitbash of Ironhide that I feel does the G1 character justice. The shell is a mold of the super hard to find vintage

Nitto 1/24 kits. It's not perfect and has numerous imperfections, but hey, Ironhide is an old bot so it's wear and teare from warfare.

I've included WIP shots leading up to the almost done jammy. Enjoy...

The shell was cut on a band saw. I used a bunch of very small screws to fasten the parts together (glued too of course). There's a bunch of scratchbuild hardware in there as well, made of styrene,

steel pins, and various screws.

And many thanks to Valkfan and John F. for the casting services. You guys rock!!!

It's a nice job, definitely better than I could ever do, but those arms are too far back, the chest is too wide and sticks out too far.

If the arms were brought forward and built up a bit, he'd look more proportional.

Sweet. Now just get his Liquid Nitrogen gun in his hand and he'll be all set! B-)

Very nice!

I have been able to acquire a 1/24th Nitto kit, but I can't seem to get a second for Ratchet, or god forbid, for any mistakes.

If someone has a mold please let me know, I'd be interested in a cast of it, for practice and/or for Ratchet.

I have to agree with the comments about the arms. They need to be beefier and pushed forward. Not sure which arms these are, but if you can swap them out, it would be better.

It's also a lot of back kibble, but without making a separate piece, ala G1 ratchet, I think you have come up with a nice looking solution.

Please take the above as constructive criticism, I am very impressed and would be proud to have that ratchet in my collection.

Nice Ironhide! In alternator scale too. Its bashes like your that give me hope that Hasbro will do a modern mold of Ironhide that will resemble ho he appeared in the cartoon.

It's not masterpiece quality,an awesome alt. ironhide, but no mp. if you'd have a less honking huge chest, turned the kibble into his battle platform, and tilted the chest forward (it's actually on diagonally in most of his incarnations),i'd seaspray my pants and get an erector. Now,not so much...yet. If i know you,i have a feeling this might not be the very last one you do.
