MULTIPLE FIGURES OF ONE CHARACTER

Who else buys multiples of figures? I DO! Just because i'm afraid something will happen to the loose one i ''play'' with. You know, paint wear, mishaps, failed customization, ETC. What are your reasons?

I assume you mean multiples of one FIGURE. because some characters have several different figures.

In my case, it's army building. Certain characters, like the Vehicon, just lend themselves properly to having multiples.

I'll buy multiple copies of a figure for a few reasons:

  • Army building (as mentioned above). I did this for the Prime Vehicons as well as several of the Vehicon drones from Beast Machines.
  • Creating customs. I do this when the character/custom I'm making is actually a different character/whatever than the original figure was intended to be. For example, I have 2 Transmetal Airazors because I used one to create a custom Terrorsaur. I also have 2 Prime Knock Outs and 2 FE Bumblebees, I used one of each to combine them into a custom Prime Smokescreen. Heck, I've bought duplicates of some Energon figures just to get their Energon weapons to use as kibble bits for custom combiners.
  • I want to display the figure in both modes. I did this for only one figure in my collection. Big Convoy. I had to have one in bot mode and one in mammoth mode (and no, the 2 repaints of him I have do not count :P).

MP 04 and Hasbro MP 10, these guys are too good to keep sealed and stared at!
All 6 of the Classics Seekers stand around obnoxiously on TV unit, Starscream at the front, naturally. And Generations Kup, his truck bed holds my guitar picks.

When do I buy doubles: Never.

The only time I did was when I needed a 2nd Gen Wheeljack to paint into Runabout.

Own a few doubles here and there still, only because they came as gifts.

Only when a figure is so special and means so much to me that i want a carded/boxed example to display. In TF terms that was MP1, MP Grimlock (Hasbro window box), RTS Jazz and Windcharger....just to gloat that I found two in the wild.

I may get another MP Lambor just because the box is so compact it will fit a gap on my shelf perfectly.

However there are plenty of examples of G1 figures I wish I had bought an extra boxed example of.........I could have swopped them for a bigger house by now :BANG_HEAD:

For me to buy another same figure(s), only if I know whom I'm going to repaint in to. Such as my Runabout and Runamuck (from Prime Wheeljack), classics Skywarp (from Generations Thundercracker), and Stepper (from RTS Jazz).

The only time I'll buy the same figure more than once is if I broke it, screwed it up, or army building.

I've been doing this when I see something on sale. I really loved the Movie Wreckers so bought doubles if I came across them. I generally collect specific characters so if I see a chance to pick up a double I usually can't resist.

I wouldn't count repaints as a "double", myself.
