At the same time, many waited for Siege Skywarp and Greenlight to go on sale and well....., I don't think the savings they possibly could have had make up the $300-400 they would now need to spend to get those.

Same here. But I think this toy isnt really meant to replace ours, it's just to bring that toy back on the shelves for those that want one and didn't get a chance the first time.

A bit like Siege Hound.
But unlike the Hound PLAGUE, there were not many Red Alerts on shelves to begin with. So that Netfilx edition is a welcome one.
