Well, there goes my theory that the line is dead! I don't mind though, some of these look downright badass.

Great news Transformers Bot Shots fans! After no new product was shown at BotCon or SDCC many feared the line had been put out to pasture, but apparently the line is moving forward! Hasbro's Transformers website was uploaded official images of the Hun-Grrr and Starcream flip shot launchers and revealed several new figures:

  • Blitz Shot Smokescreen
  • Flip Shot Hydrax
  • Flip Shot Soundwave
  • Jump Shot Prowl
  • Spin Shot Strafe

Click here to view the official Hasbro Transformers Bot Shots product page. We've mirroed the official images below:

With all the attention Smokescreen has gotten lately (masterpiece and especially Prime) and his rise in popularity, it is weird his bot shot incarnation is so half-assed. It's just a blue Jazz.

My 3 year old loves these because they are easy for him to transform (if you can call it that) however they really phone it in on the reuse of some of the molds.

I still haven't seen the last wave with Megatron and Skywarp yet - not on HTS, retail, or anywhere else.

Oh, and I am surprised there is no Bumblebee for this round... ;)

Soundwave's alternate mode is rather interesting, looking like wheels and a grill tacked on a mistransformed tape-deck Soundwave. You can even see how he'd convert if he was a regular Transformer toy.

My 2 year old chucks these across the room because they suck so bad. They don't stay transformed (alt mode) very well at all. They constantly spring back to robo-mode, and it's irritating as heck.

I am wagging my finger at Hasbro for making such a cheap cash-in on the TF name. Just because it's cheap and easy to produce, doesn't mean you should go ahead and spam these into stores. :BANG_HEAD:

Good thing the business model was different in G1... if it had been like it is now, we'd have an entire multi-wave line of Throttlebots.. instead of six. (Why'd I bring it up now I want more Throttlebots...) :HEADHURTS:

Hey, that Soundwave looks pretty decent...

Hey, weren't these $4 when I bought Powerglide (the only one I've bought, and mostly to fill the hole on my minibot shelf).

More christmastime fodder for Marshalls/Ross/TJ Maxx. They are nice and all, but like the preceding wave they will never see retail. Walmart, Target, and Meijer have all but clearanced these out in favor of the Construct-Bots. I think TRU still has some, but the previous waves self warming until the official cancellation of this line at the ned of the year will prevent them from bringing in new stock. So, unless the discount chain above gets them, then these will either be cancelled before they even see the light of day or will only be offered thru HTS.

Also from the Hasbro on-line product catalog we have have two new Transformers Bot Shots Launchers, Bluestreak and Buzzclaw. Check these guys out below.

Image

Get the edge in the Bot Shots Battle Game with the Bluestreak Launcher! This powerful launcher helps you roll into battle with extra force. Choose your Bluestreak vehicle's Sword, Battle or Fist power and face off against an opponent (other vehicles sold separately). Beat your opponent when your vehicle converts to robot mode while the other vehicle stays in vehicle mode. Use your launcher to win the next collision, then do it all over again! If you both convert, the vehicle with the stronger power is the victor: Blaster beats Fist, Fist beats Sword and Sword beats Blaster! After you've mastered Basic Battle moves, try new tricks. Can you do a Jump Shot to make another vehicle convert? May the strongest Bot Shot vehicle win!

Launcher comes with vehicle and instructions

Ages 5 and up.

Will these ever actually hit retail or just be nice placeholders on the Hasbro website like the last two waves of Bot Shots?

Bluestreak looks a lot like Smokescreen to me.

Okay... the fact that that green ramp could pass for some chunk of Scorponok's base mode is a plus. :-?

OK, Hasbro, that'll do. That's enough. Put away the highlighters and magic markers and start working on some new figures.

I'm highly tempted to pick up Buzzclaw because the BW Fuzors were some of my favorite toys as a kid (the original Buzzclaw especially, since I was crazy into mantids and reptiles). The launcher and accessories turn me away, though.

I always loved Buzzclaw too. There was just something...cute about him.

But at first glance, the colors made me think the toy was already gift-wrapped for Christmas. On closer inspection, the launcher with vehicle attached bears a strange resemblance to BM Scavenger, a character not blighted by being in the awful show, and fun to repurpose as a G2 Cybertronian construction vehicle. Yeah, still determined to never get into Bot Shots, but if I only bought one...

I thought the same... Hot Wheels does stuff like that, and I'd be into a Xmas-themed TF set.... Too bad Hasbro is too politically correct to do it... Actually... how about multiple sets? Channukah, Kwanzaa, Xmas... might be pretty entertaining. And they could put random bots in the sets, insinuating certain religions among the bots!
