Still don't get it, and the price tag is just plain shocking.

This is garish, pretty damned grotesque and a complete waste of money. I just... Why? What is the POINT of this? This doesn't really homage anything. It's an overpriced non-transforming toy that makes a mockery of both Optimus and Starscream. =; =;

Not homage but great for Halloween! Optimus loses his moral center and goes kill crazy! Someone should buy both versions and have him wear all those Decepticon corpses/cannons. How awesomely macabre would it be?! 3rd partiers should custom some dead Decepticon heads for him to hold, Wheee!!! ;;)

Well, since Halloween is my least-favorite holiday of the year... no.

See, if Prime had taken this approach to start with, the war would have been over pretty quickly.

This looks pretty awesome. I like a Prime who's prepared to kick some ass. Hence why the movies are so awesome.

The lovely folks at IZ Reloaded were recently in Singapore for SGTCC, and took a good look at the exhibited full colour version of the upcoming Hot Toys licensed G1 Optimus Prime (Starscream version) - check out the clip they sent us below!

Spotted at Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2014 (STGCC 2014), is this Hot Toys Optimus Prime (Starscream Version) Collectible Figure from the classic and highly popular THE TRANSFORMERS GENERATION 1.

The Optimus Prime (Starscream Version) collectible figure stands approximately 30cm tall featuring a highly detailed mechanical structure and remarkable painting applications with distress effect, a pair of Starscream's wings, weapons, and a rocky ground diorama base with Autobot logo.

Is anybody else disturbed by Optimus Prime now taking trophies of his kills?

I'm just not impressed by this. Yes, HT makes some really great movie-based figures, but this Optimus Prime just doesn't make sense. Taking wings from Starscream is silly as a concept. And at that size, if he can't transform then what's the point? It's just another super-overpriced toy for people who can't say "No". I'll stick with my perfect MP01, thank you.

I still think this is the result of some weird version of prime, taking starscream and locking him up in his creepy basement.

Cool. Now let's see the alt mode, which I assume it has, because it's a Transformer.

I own every mp takara has made including every coin and all of the variants... and seeing this figure makes it very hard not to acquire it, and i think it is because of the expected quality that hottoys is known for... U come to trust them that they are going to make a product that u r going to love. Afterall, most of the mps that i own have been preordered months or even a year in advance without even knowing what the final version is going to look like! Its insane! But i must say, i've had no regrets and im always pleasantly surprised that i did when i open the box...

I am not getting this figure, mainly because, I know its going to be awesome and it will only lead to more awesomeness and more figures as a line, seen those pictures of optimus prime megatron version yet? Im sure there is a starscream "megatron" version in the works too, in short, i have to limit what i collect now days... Ill pass on this line of awesomeness to preserve space and hold on to my money. Threezero and masterpiece transformers are an expensive hobby to have :-( having fullmetalghost on my bedstand, waiting on fullmetalghost captain form and that awesome atlas figure as well, makes me think that the 300-400 dollar figure segment is hard at work to get u hooked.. Sorry hottoys transformers, ur too late! I got my fix!

To be a good-looking display piece.

I still want to see someone get both this and the Megatron Prime, then combine all the weapons/parts on him and have him hold some decepticon heads in one hand.

About time Optimus got as evil as the rest of the Primes.

All of the TFs in my collection are good-looking display pieces, and they all transform. Buying a TF statue that doesn't transform is like buying a luxury sports car with no engine. "But it looks good parked in the driveway!" I'd rather have a Toyota I can drive than a Ferrari I can only look at.

They made an untransformable transformer with a less impressive look. Good for them.

i think most ppl that are passing on this are using the "it doesnt transformer exuse" is funny to me.......maybe its cuz all of my TF are kept in Bot mode........and thats why i buy tfs cuz of their bot modes.......i never found it interesting to keep a bunch of cars in my display cabs, thats what my hot wheels were all about. lol

Ok sure their are some awesome car and plane modes, but seriously thats boring to look at lol

this piece isnt gonna be for every collector, but for me, i have a feeling that the materials used will be better then anything takara has used, the detail so far to me smokes mp 10, the head scalp the paint apps etc

i got mine on pre-order and i think he will blow away a lot of my primes..........

mp10 i love, but i always knew something will test it soon enough.

:BOT: :CON:

I get the feel that if this thing had come out 20 years ago or so, people would be more interested in something like this. Maybe not specifically an "Optimus Prime wearing mutilated Starscream parts", but a good-looking display piece in general. Back then, the pre-BW era, we didn't have all the nice looking things we have now. There were no collector-oriented lines. No Masterpieces, no Alternators, no Human Alliance figures, nothing prettier than a Japanese G1 leader figure or G2's Laser Optimus Prime toy, which were arguably the best-looking things back then.

Nowadays, we have all these nice collector-aimed figures that serve as both fully functional toys with playability and as good-looking display pieces. It just shows how spoiled fortunate we are as a fandom to have all these nice things at this time, when other lines aren't always so lucky and sometimes only get good-looking display pieces in instances such as the release of this Hot Toys statue.

Remember in the 2000s when all of the following (and more) were released?

There was more of a market for these kinds of things back then since the idea of Transformers toys for collectors was still a fairly new and fairly unexplored concept. Hot Toys is just carrying on with the same kind of agenda as the folks who made all of the above. If there seriously isn't enough of a market for an item like this in this day and age for Hot Toys to make a decent profit off of, then I guess the only thing to be said is that it came out at the wrong time. But, the fact that it even is getting made shows that someone still believes there's a market for this thing, however small and/or unspoken it might be.

then you miss the point...
its not to have a mere toy but to have an actual collection piece to display

I like this, if it was more affordable I would definitely buy because it looks absolutely beautiful. The SS gimmick doesn't make sense, and kinda sucks since that jacks up the price, but I don't think this is pointless or anything. Maybe one day they'll give us one more reasonably price.

I wonder if the tires are rubber?
