Really don't see why people are so mad over the price. The figure is 77 buck which was about the same price for warbot. 3rd parties are always more expensive but they are 100 times better than hasbro. We all knew this figure was going to be expensive, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

The more I see these threads, I realize that dumping $600 on a toy isnt the smartest thing. However, the thing of it is (assuming quality is good), you are going to end of with the sweetest Devastator ever. On top of that, if you stick with it and get all 6 figures, you will easily be able to unload it on ebay for at least what you spent on it to someone who was on the fence now.

Look at what Bruticus addons have done. I wasnt collecting at the time so I missed out. Now I see these going for $300-400 for figures that were ~$150 new

That's what I figured..

I wonder why everyone looks at this as a Devastator figure for $600?? It's actually 6 figures ranging from $80-90 a piece. That's how I look at it anyway. They aren't coming out at the same time so it really isn't any different than buying 6 Warbot: Defenders over a years time.

It is. And it isn't. Warbot Defender was a similar price, but he was a triple changer, and a standalone release. He'd fit into a TFTM or Season 3 cartoon collection, a Wreckers collection or a Marvel comics collection. Quite versatile display opportunities and works well with a lot of Hasbro pieces. Had Fans Project carried on to release 5 more, different Warbot sized items, any of us could have picked and chosen the ones we liked best, or skipped out on one if we were a little short on cash that month.

Devastator is, be honest here, the main reason for buying the Constructicons. I've no doubt that they'll look quite decent in vehicle or bot mode hanging out even before the group is complete, but a large amount of the development of these guys will have been making them work together to form the giant gestalt. Lets say I do buy the first few, but then can't afford the 4th or 5th for some reason. Even if I then am able to buy the last couple released, missing even one diminishes these to a third of their potential. And I'm pretty sure that buying a single one on the aftermarket will be expensive. I'd also think that after the first one is out, the manufacturers will use the numbers on that as a gauge of how many to make for future releases, meaning that the later ones will probably be rarer.

It's a double edged sword of course. Not buying them up now and as they're released means that if they do turn out to be as awesome as they promise, the price will jump considerably for the whole set once they're out. I'd really love a big, scary Devy, but can't afford to make this kind of financial commitment.

edit: on the plus side, nice to see more comparison pictures of them vs official products to get an idea of the size. It definitely looks like it could be worth the price.

I understand what you are saying, I guess I just look at it differently. With the figures all coming out staggered, the $600 mark really doesn't weigh on my mind. I'm just paying $90 bucks every 2-3 months(guessing on the time frame there). I agree though that the combined mode is definitely the major pull for these figures.

I have to agree that the staggered release helps me buy this as well. If it was $600 all at once ... forget it. It wouldn't happen. I don't even spend that much at a con, and usually not even half as much.

But, staggered as they are, they fit into my spending habits more. And it helps that the movie line is out and I am totally uninterested in any of the stuff currently out.

I suppose these also work out because I like the Constructicons. A while back I was thinking of grabbing the Armada-Cybertron green and purple construction dudes and simply callign them Constructicons for my display. Stopped short because, without the combining feature it's pointless, but even so you can see why this sort of release appeals.

Honestly... if this one is done well, I might just leave them as individuals. That's what I'm planning on doing until they're all out, unless their robot modes are appealing enough.

I have no idea what your funds coming in look like, but if you're able to (comfortably) spare another $90+ after buying this guy, one thought is to pull that money now and keep it safe for if you need a boost to meet a later release. If you ultimately don't you just put it back.

TFC Toys have finally answered a burning question that has been on the mind of collectors since we got our first glimpse of the Hercules project, "How long will it take to get the whole set?" They have updated the weibo micro-blog with release dates for the figures as follows:

  • Exgraver - Coming Soon
  • Heavylabor - September 2011
  • Stuctor - November 2011
  • Dr Crank - December 2011
  • Neckbreaker - March 2012
  • Mad Blender - April 2012

So there you have it. You won't have a complete Hercules on your self until April of next year, and that's not taking any delays into consideration.

When I saw the pre-order on BBTS for the first figure in the "Not Devastator" line I got excited....then I saw that they are gonna be $100 per figure plus shipping...... $100 for something that is roughly scaled between a deluxe and voyager class is way too pricey...I'd love to get these figures, but I'm not paying $600 for the total combiner. But that's just me. :-(

not getting them. Price and lack of interest in the individual robots. does look quite a decent figure though, and I like the colours.

bit I'm going to miss out on most, aside from not owning a complete, honking big Devy, is going to be missing out on the opportunity to get all excited and post "I have my Mad Blender!" or "I have Dr Crank in my hands!". Those are two classic names, shame about the rest.

edit: good luck to everyone that's getting these.

The schedual works for me. Nice and slow. Sure, in total it'll be very expencive, but bit by bit it's not too bad. And the price per size is compera ble to Defender as well.

I wish that people would stop saying warbot isn't a good example of proper pricing.

Warbot has things going for him that this simply does not. Diecast, heavy detail, complex design, good plastic quality, it can transform into two different vehicles, and when you buy Protector you aren't making a commitment where you want to buy the other combiner parts. On top of all that, Fansproject has an overall better track record than TFC.

I think the biggest thing is actually the commitment though. Thinking about how much these will all cost in the long run, just so you can have a devastator. You never know when Hasbro will decide to do their own. It's not like I think that Hasbro will never make a Classics Springer figure.

Hasbro did make a Classics Springer. And a Classics Devestator. But they were both just repaints. People tend to forget about them, but they exist.

That release schedule definately makes it more financially viable, and will mean we won't have to commit to the later figures until we've got a good idea of how they're going to turn out. Hopefully the fact that they are not coming out altogether will mean good quality products. While I do share other folks' concerns of TFClub losing interest/encountering difficulties, 9 or 10 months isn't all that long.

Staying positive.

Doesn't mean they wont do it properly down the line. They've shown us they're willing to do that in the past.

In my case at least, I don't have the money for this. I'm already down for FP's Insecticons and other possible projects in the future, also I have to wonder what iGear's Impactor will cost. Considering all the cons going for this Devastator set I mentioned, my priorities lie elsewhere. Maybe a review will completely change my mind IDK...

I'm leery of the prospects of a proper Classics Springer and even moreso of classics constructicons.

Not only have they done the Constructicons, but look at the other classics combiner teams: not combiners anymore when they are new figures. Even the RotF Devestator didn't seperate into individual robots for the properly sized version.

They could make a new Springer, I guess. It's not as far off as the Constructicons. But it just seems like they did it and got it off their checklist, and it was done at a proper size to boot.
