YUP! a new reboot of the classic show Thunderbirds is coming to UK's ITV Channel, read more about it here......http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/thunderbird ... for-reboot

Image

also liking the Thunderbird 2 toy.....Image

The Enterainer toy store now have some of the new Thunderbirds figures & vehicles up on their website!.....http://www.thetoyshop.com/Thunderbirds- ... GridView=0

Oh & can I just say....that I'm absolutely pissed off that those figures aren't out til July! With the show starting this Saturday! coz look at the recent Transformers RID figures! they came out waaay ahead of the tv show. dunno why Thunderbirds are not doing something similar?... .&/or releasing them at the same time the show comes out.

I've watched the trailers and I'm undecided.

I love the original series, we get it here in the mornings and watch it when I turn the TV on. For such an old show I think its aged well, the supermarionation style was years ahead of itself.

Anyone of you TB fans also remember the anime version? I liked that show as well. It also had it's own charm. Wish they'd release it in DVD/BD as well.

Anime version? Never knew that existed.

Haven't seen the trailers yet, just that creepy group shot, that somehow made them look even more lifeless than the original puppets. Wouldn't mind that Thunderbird 2 though, that was always my favourite vehicle of the show, and this one looks pretty much the same, just with more detailing maybe?

It was released around 1984 to 1986 iirc. It's title in English was Thunderbirds 2086. A different band of characters......not a family as in brothers and sisters but more of a commando type recue group. Feel an affinity with them because of my EMT rescue background.

Ok, that does look interesting, and kinda familiar actually, maybe it's due to the style being similar to other things, but I'll check it out.

Just seen two trailers for this new one, damn it looks far better than I expected it to look, the animation looks great. Just one thing, it kinda looks like the set pieces are hand-made minatures. Especially the island base in the "Introducing the World" trailer.
The trailers make it look like a lot of love was put into this, pretty exited right now.

Edit:
I've totally seen the anime, it must have been broadcast on one of the small channels back in the 90s when they started bringing anime over due to it being cheaper than US animated shows. Never made the connection though, and I can't remember a whole lot about it, just that the intro and a few scenes looked damn familiar.

Official Thunderbird DM. Yup, it was kind of under appreciated.

I loved the old series, it was one of the corner stones of my childhood. This though...The fact the family has been stylised as One Direction leaves me heavily in doubt. I wish people spent more time creating something new then trying to resurrect the past (as if the live action movie didn't kill it enough).

As for the anime, I recall seeing ads for it in one of the comics I got as a lid but later on I thought it was a robotech style job.

It's a mix of animation and miniature sets.

Just watched the first two episodes and ... I like it!

The miniature sets are ... wow! They're very well done! The mix with CGI is ALMOST seamless, you can still catch a little bit of blending.

As the story goes ... it's 2060, Jeff Tracy is now M.I.A. but the boys have carried on with International Rescue.

They're joined by Grandma Tracy, Lady Penelope, Parker, and Brains ... who now has a decidedly Indian accent.

Also joining the team is Kayo, who is Tintin just renamed. She's now a major part of the team and the pilot of the all new Thunderbird S(hadow)

Image

All in all, there's a lot of potential here! Recaptures the original series and gives it a modern update.

Also....the nods to other Gerry Anderson shows....like Stingray & Space 1999(the front of the undersea lab)

try watching the latest episode!(i think it's the final one of season 1? Although not sure) as it's by far the best one yet! & finally shows Thunderbird Shadow in action! although still no news on the Thunderbird Shadow toy yet.

It's a 26 episode season so we have two more episodes yet.

I did enjoy the tone of this episode, I especially enjoyed the division between Scott and Kayo.

The Shadow Plane is very much like a typical Derek Meddings looking thing - I wonder if it's actually based on an unused design of his ?

I really need to watch more of this show - I've not seen it once since they used TB5 like a giant fishing reel.

i'm surprised that noone's modded or kitbashed a Transformer(maybe Cyclonus?) into the Shadow plane! or maybe someone will...............one day.

Apparently Shadow was designed by Shoji Kawamori, designer from a lot of Anime series.

I haven't watched since ep. 12. I've bought the DVD of the first 13 eps and i'm currently waiting for 14-26 to appear on disc. Once i've got that one, i'm gonna watch them all in order. I quite like this series, it's original while also having lots of inspiration from the original.

I love this show. This is perfectly how you update an old show. Keep all the familiar elements, keep the things looking the same just with some small tweaks here and there, like TB2 getting squared off a bit and looking more industrial, TB3 having those arm grabs and so on. But add some new, yet unobtrusive elements, like the GDF.

So happy to finally see Thunderbird Shadow in action. To be honest, although TB2 and 4 are still my favourite, I think Kayo has become my favourite character. And I absolutly LOVE that they've made TB5 part of the actual rescue operations instead of a glorified answer phone.

Shame about the toys though. I keep getting tempted by a TB2, but everytime I pick it up, the plastic quality is just too poor for the price. It feels like a tacky poundland thing.

Ha! Yours are the first video reviews I watched on those things.

I may pick the small TB2 up when it goes on sale. A big sale.

I was wondering if there will be some Choro Q for these ones - I'm rather fond of the previous ones based on the classic show - they even got released in the UK under a sub-licensing deal and not sold as Choro-Q which they were originally.

Without spoiling anything I was wondering does The Hood have a submarine yet in the new show ?

( I'll likely binge them all when the show has finished and I'm in the right frame of mind to enjoy them - likewise the latest Max Steel eps too). It's a good idea to have something 'in reserve' like that I feel.

Not sure about new-Danger Mouse yet that is more of a 'maybe'. I also have a couple of seasons of Shawn the Sheep to catch up on too.

Without spoiling anything, the Hood does have access to vehicles, yes.
