Hi everyone, i'm new to the forums and am having some trouble navigating around so i'm sorry if im posting in the wrong place, i've done my best to abide by forum rules and hope i haven't overlooked anything.

I'm based in Australia and have just started picking up the Toys R Us Masterpiece figures. I have Acid Storm and Soundwave and have noticed they are marked as Mp-01 and 02 Does this mean they are in their own line separate from the Japanese sets? Please forgive my naivety on the subject as i only have a modest collection and have never really committed to obtaining a whole set before but these are too good to pass up. Can anyone explain the way it works for me?

ugh ... that stupid greeting again.

Ignore Va'al. He doesn't know what country he's from. You should also avoid his photocomic, It's not funny. Except for when I hijack.

I'm bloody hilarious.

>:oP
Just for Va'al.

Hi, I'm Burn. The nice Mod and Va'al's nemesis.

Hi, I have a certain male anatomical part :D

Welcome to the boards, if we haven't freaked you out yet then you're made of some stern stuff, perfect for surviving in this nuthouse. I'll have you know I'm more of a Anacardium occidental (aka a cashew). :)

As for your question, it's true all main line Japanese releases by TakaraTomy have their own ID number, however Hasbro Asia likes to copy that for their own releases from time to time. Masterpiece Acid Storm and Soundwave are good examples of that, but they actually started it 5 years back with the Universe Special Editions. For instance, Drag Strip was SE-3 and Overkill was SE-4.

Haha no i'm not freaked out. It's nice to receive such a warm welcome!

So does that mean the Toys R Us Masterpiece figures are their own line? Like if i only collect the Toys R us exclusives will i technically "have the set"?

Technically, yes. Up to now, Hasbro's Masterpiece releases (as well their current reissues) have been standalone or incorporated into other lines. With the Hasbro Asia MP line they finally seem to have a proper line of their own, but who knows how long that will last.

Ok great thanks for breaking that down for me. Lastly- Are Soundwave and Acid storm the only 2 figures released at the moment for the Hasbro Asia MP line?

Yeah, but no new releases have been announced yet. Keep an eye on the TakaraTomy Masterpiece line in the mean time, I've heard Ultra Magnus is being planned.

Thanks Goldrabbit and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

I'd like to have all the masterpiece figures but spread across both Takara and Hasbro it might be too much. I'll stick to the Hasbro MPs for now. Or at least until i come into a little more disposable income :)

You probably are better off going with Takara Tomy Masterpieces though.

By the time you import from Japan (and there's enough Asian-based English speaking websites out there) it tends to work out cheaper than waiting for Hasbro to release their version, waiting for TRU to get them in, driving around trying to find a TRU that has them in stock, oh and of course, paying the ridiculous prices that TRU put on them.
