They haven't quite run out of ideas for tanks yet at least. They're getting there though! Image

Yup. Not too many curveballs they can throw us anymore. Pretty much the only saving grace of much of the movie lines have been that they aren't nearly as straight forward as the Generations line.

Megs is the only one of interest since he's different. My main concern is despite being Deluxe size they're boxed which is a great excuse for shops to increase the price on these and deluxes are already quite expensive.

That Starscream looks a heck of a lot like that weird test shot we've seen a few days ago. What was the story behind that again? Part of a cancelled line of simple Generations figures from years ago?
Guess the line isn't exactly cancelled.

These are too simple and silly for me, but I do like the general design of that Megatron.

It's the same figure. And it was never confirmed that the prototype sown was for a defunct line. That was just a theory which has since been debunked.

Nice catch. But the Megs is reused from the combiner wars box

So its not sure if these images were concieved for these toys or are simply being reused, as is the case with Megs.

The toy line itself is excellent.
Those of you bitching about the half-dozen things that you seem to think are wrong with toys intended for 5 YEAR OLDS can take a long walk off a very short pier.
Seriously, you guys are dicks! I'd love to see even one of you walk up to a child, pull the toy from his hand and say "Dude, this thing is a piece of crap! You shouldn't be playing with this" and toss it in the trash. Honestly, that's the mentality you people have when you start verbally bashing on toys meant for little children on a public site so you might want to think about how you are coming across to the rest of society when you start ragging on these toys. I know 3 people off the top off my head who wont have anything to do with this site because of this very issue.
I'm a cigar chomping, Energon guzzling, crotchety old bot that's tough as nails, two days older than dirt, can out grouch Ironhide, out-complain Huffer, leave Bluestreak speechless with a single glare and make Grimlock back down in a stare-off. If you're nice, and extremely lucky, I may only tell you to go blow it out your exhaust pipe!

The Optimus art is also from his Combiner Wars toy, and was originally for the Transformers Legends mobile game. The same might be true for Bumblebee as well.

Ha! It looks like cost saving measures go way deeper than just using the same molds then.

That Megatron toy doesnt look anything like his picture.

Given the audience they're aimed at, I think they look pretty good. Recognizable as G1, relatively simple transformations, and a good size for younger kids.

It looks like these draw cues from the Legends line, especially Starscream, but with a few changes. Optimus looks to have an even simpler transformation (and gets rid of his stupid chest gimmick). Bumblebee's transformation looks most similar to his RID Legion figure. Megatron looks like a cross between his Generations Legends figure and his G2 Universe Legends figure. Grimlock doesn't look like he transforms much like any recent version of the character I've seen (AOE excluded).

I've never understood why people think kids want toys with complex transformations. Nothing gets in the way of playing with Transformers than having to take a minute or two to transform the damn toy. I want Starscream in jet mode NOW, just like in the cartoon!

Gotta reuse that art!

Hasbro seems to reuse a lot of art for toys meant for kids. I picked up a G2 Legends Megatron at Big Lots for my son, and the picture on the packaging was the Generations Legends figure re-shaded green, which looked nothing like the actual toy.

Even though the other figures look kinda lame, that Starscream doesn't look too bad. And lack of wrist swivels seems to be the trend these days for most TFs.

"7 inch"? Pretty sure Grimlock is just a recolor of RiD (2015) Legion Grimlock, and Bumblebee is just a reheaded RiD (2015) Legion Bumblebee, that's the way they look from the pics at least.

He's part of the 11 inch line up, along with the other bumblebee. Those have not been revealed more than those small photos in the brazillian catalogue.

Actually no. 7 inches is pretty big, like 17.5 cm or over half a foot. Relatively speaking, just shy of Voyager Class.

For comparison sake, here are the molds these Cyber Battalion figures seem to be based on, judging from overall transformation scheme, not parts or articulation (in short, they are not upsized copies of those figures, but merely share transformation):

Bumblebee: Prime Cyberverse Bumblebee
Image

Optimus Prime: Generations Legends Optimus Prime or 2010 Reveal the Shield Legends Optimus Prime

Image

Image

Starscream: Generations Legends Starscream
Image

Megatron: Universe 2008 Legends Megatron (the barrel has been relocated though)
Image

Grimlock: Robots in Disguise 2015 Warriors Class Grimlock

The fact that they are called cyber battalion does hint at their origin as cyberverse figures made big. Also guys, these transformations arent crazily simplifies. Combiner Wars Motormaster transforms in only 7 steps while I saw on the boxes of these that some take 7 steps to convert. The big difference is more the detail and articulation to me, not necessarily the complexity.

Well, Optimus' vehicle mode is fantastic, bot mode...not so much. Bumblebee and Grimlock are crap looking. Buuuut, Megatron looks promising, still want a better idea of the articulation. Also Starscream is totally being picked up, assuming he has knees.

"7 steps" We'll see when they come out if Hasbro did their new thing of leaving out of steps/moves or combining multiple steps/moves into one unclear one to "reduce" the number of steps.
