Got to ask though, from what you said youngprime, what was the straw that broke the camels back for you regarding hasbro?

There is no "Camel". I've supported TF for over 30 years now and I've had a Decepticon Tat on my arm for almost 20 years.

That doesn't mean I can't call out Hasbro's BS when they sell it. H3ll, people have said the same things that I have on the podcast here.

In this particular case I'm simply singling out the notion that Hasbro clearly know's that Fans/collector's/kids want a "quality" Voyager class Generations Shockwave but instead of making one they dance around it by making half@ssed version's of the character to keep consumers buying the latest and somewhat updated versions.

Real talk! They could take this figure and put a little more effort in it and make it EPIC! But it feels like their Shareholder Meeting/discussions go like: "If people will buy this mediocre version for $17 then why bother making quality ones anytime soon?"

Same goes for that upcoming Cyberverse version.

They could, but Age of Extinction marked clear boundaries between toys for younger and older kids, with the latter aimed more at discerning collectors as well. Even though the Cyber Series falls under Generations, this isn't one of those latter lines, in fact they may not even be by the same team. Can anyone verify?

Shockwave looks awesome, I don't mind that he doesn't have knees.

Knees are not the only issue with these toys. Its an obvious point to see as a deal breaker but in reality this toy is simply not meant for collectors in any way. Even if it had knees it would still be underwhelming due to the simplicity and overall articulation plus being as hollow as possible. These toys are closer to 3 step toys, titan changers and the RID Combiners we recently got and for a similar audience. They are very brickish, similar to G1 toys but only in regards to articulation joints. So if you like those 3 step changers, then this might be up your alley. But if you are expecting anything close to a deluxe class toy (in voyager scale), then this probably wont satisfy you. We can ask Agamemnon if ever he still checks this thread out.

Plus there are lots of reviews for you to get a good idea at what these toys are:

It does satisfy babies though, my kid found Cyber Battalion Prowl simply delicious.

PS To Jelze: we never did know who at Hasbro made these and they were never discussed at Shows since they werent even intended to come out in the US at wide retail.

Yeah, I bought that Jetfire at Wal-Mart thinking it was more akin to the previous release. He is alright, but more like a G1 figure in alot of ways. As someone who fiddles with these toys (meaning TF) he's one that never leaves the storage container because he is less fun to play with then any other TF I own.
And have to agree with Cobo, cute kid!

TF Factory on Weibo has uploaded new images for the Cyber Battalion subline of Generations. We now have stock images of Shockwave in both robot and alt mode along with the artwork for Sideswipe (which looks nothing like the toy).

Shockwave initially had a lot of excitement from the fan community, along with frustration with the lack of articulation, especially knees. However, for those unaware about this particular line, the articulation is not the only aspect that may dissapoint fans who are used to Generations styled toys.

These are very basic toys upscaled to the voyager class. Just to help fans understand what these toys are all about, even if Shockwave had knees it might still be underwhelming due to the simplicity and overall articulation plus being as hollow as possible.

We have added a video review below of the previous toy to come out in this line, Jetfire, for you to get a best sense as to what these toys are all about. Especially since there is a chance that Shockwave and Sideswipe will not come out in th US, and thus may be more costly to import.

Looks like it might be mistransformed. I would either turn around the head or fold it down if possible and swing the arms forward so they’re not jutting off the back of the alt-mode.

Can’t find this fig for sale anywhere on the internet. WHERE ARE YOU SCALPERS??? I AM WAITING FOR YOU!

Stubby Shockwave is stubby.

Sadly, my hope of the wings being able to fold down to make a gun handle and as such a surreptitious gun mode have been shattered, as it appears the wings have no central hinge. Only outside hinges for the wing tips.

It's too bad that the wings don't fold down and come together to make a mock gun grip. Would be a neat way to sneak in a G1 "gun" mode without really doing so, kind of like Titans Return Sixshot's "submarine" mode.

Despite knowing that this toy is going to be more hollow and "cheap feeling" and less complex in terms of transformation and articulation, this new Shockwave really looks the part of a great Classics/neoG1 update, from everything from the sculpt to the color choices and paint detailing, something we STILL don't really have in Transformers Generations. Yes, there is the Fall of Cybertron deluxe Shockwave, but he's quite small, even for a deluxe class toy, and also feels "cheap" in many regards. This new Cyber Batallion/Cyber Series voyager scaled version will look great on my Classics display shelves until something better finally comes along.

I agree with all of this. I do not like that FOC toy at all.
Though, I do find the cloud shockwave to do an ok job so far, but this definitely looks more the part.

I'm a bit surprised there was so much "do not like" for the WfC Shockwave, sure it was small, but that whole line was pretty tiny. I always sort of envisioned him as a "small" space battlecruiser. Hell I liked the general concept of him enough to get the remold from him. As a general "drone" style body... I could have also seen him troop built for a "battle squadron".

Also I thought the legends figure was pretty decent. As far as "good voyager" did ppl forget about the Animated Longhaul/Shockwave? The target exclusive purple one is still one of my favorite figures.

this figure could have had knees if hasbro just used ball joints instead of mushroom peg swivels.
a ball joint would have facilitated the necessary swivel motion for transformation, and function as a knee. nor it would require any additional parts

they had their reasons for not going with ball joints, probably because their target audience didn't care either way so it was just easier to do it

What do you think of the Cyber Battalion line?

Postby Phanstar » Sat Mar 10, 2018 6:52 pm

Weapon: Battle Blades
I am just now getting back into collecting Transformers after selling off my old collection and taking a ten year hiatus. I am loving most of the Generations lines a lot but I stumbled across a Cyber Battalion Prowl at Walgreens and picked it up. I am not sure how I feel about him. He isn’t bad but I can’t decide if I want to keep him or if that 20 dollars could go towards a Transformer I might enjoy more.

What are your guys thoughts on this Walgreens exclusive line?

In Hand Images of Transformers Generations Cyber Battalion Sideswipe

Postby william-james88 » Fri Mar 16, 2018 9:56 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
赛博坦之声88 on Weibo has uploaded new images for the Cyber Battalion subline of Generations. We previously had images of Shockwave along with artwork for Sideswipe and now we finally have our first look at the Sideswipe toy in hand.

Looking at it compared to Prowl, we see that the sculpts are very different and they mainly share the abdominal/pelvic area. The transformation is identical though. And while the head is a very faithful G1 Sideswipe head, the way the chest protrudes is more in tune with G1 Override.

For those not in the know, these are very basic toys upscaled to the voyager class. Just to help fans understand what these toys are all about, these are very simple toys, with minimal articulation and a lot of hollow parts (same amount of plastic as a deluxe would have but stretched out to make a voyager). They are very brickish, similar to G1 toys but only in regards to articulation joints. So if you like those 3 step changers, then this might be up your alley.

But if you are expecting anything close to a deluxe class toy (in voyager scale), then this probably wont satisfy you. We have added a video review below of the previous toy to use this transformation, Prowl, for you to get a best sense as to what these toys are all about. Especially since there is a chance that Shockwave and Sideswipe will not come out in th US, and thus may be more costly to import.

Pretty sure the only car parts that are different are the roof (feet), bottom of the doors (arms), and front of the car (chest) as well. No complaint here, it's probably the best mold in the line. It really just needs bicep and hip swivels to be a proper looking Voyager, but for the price I can accept that they're missing. I'm going to keep Prowl with UW Devastator once I get around to setting up a proper display (my goal for April) since they look good together. If Sideswipe happens to show up here I might buy one, though his size doesn't really fit with anything else.
