(especially as there are *WAY* too many bots who should be lvl 1 who aren't)

This.

If everyone jumped into level 1 that could, you wouldn't be seeing as much brutality in the logs. Plain and simple.

Bun-Bun wrote:Even my level 2-3's still get one-shot-killed in under 30 seconds sometimes.

 Wait long enough, I'll be doing the one-shots on you  WITH MY DOLPHIN! :KREMZEEK:

Bun-Bun wrote:But without great risk there can be no big reward. What you could get grinding for weeks at 0 you can get in a day or two (depending on play time)at 1.

An example I personally know of would be the decpeticon Kick Axe.
He doesn't play much but he just recently got his first couple level 1's (biggest one is 14K) even in his worst missions (as long as he's not shut out) he's making way more than at level 0

Kick Axe is beast. Gave me hell at level 0  Glad to know he's hitting big!

So, I'll give this to you straight, Light Metal. There are only a small handful of 'Bots that deploy in the 1-4 range. Of those 4 or 5 people, our timezones/time-to-play don't match up well. I'm used to deploying in 1v5s. But you know what? It can be a lot of fun. You don't even need specific builds to do this, because it's all based on rng.

Here are two examples of rng at its finest in regular missions: Example 1 and Example 2. You'll see terrible rng at the beginning of each of these, then amazing rng at the end. If not from me, take it from this classic that helped inspire me when I was much lower level.

As far as Hell Missions go, yea. You'll 0 out a lot. And sometimes, you may be the only one, but I've still had top xp just from pure rng luck. You'll never have the chance to succeed if you're too afraid to try.

Bun-Bun wrote:Sure the Bots have a different situation over there but a good example of how to make it big would be Wingz. When I came back to the game a couple months ago we were around the same place XP-wise (she might have been a bit lower) but while I screwed around with various crappy builds relying on backup to pull in XP she found builds that worked for being outmanned (avoiding, repair, strafe) and by not shying away from the 1-11 missions she hit big and has greatly surpassed me.

:x Meet Bun-Bun. This my rival in this game. He kicks ass. Usually yours. The end. True story :KREMZEEK:

Being outnumbered has actually become quite fun for me. It makes testing those builds easier. As offered in Iacon, I'm more than happy to assist if you or any other newer 'Bots who need help figuring out what builds would work best for your playstyle and for what you want to do, especially with regard to avoiders and repairers. As soon as more people level to 1, I can support them in the 1-3 missions, but that is a limited time offer. I have a few level 3s that are 2-3 points from level 4 now, and only three attackers that are about to hit level 3. If you want to see how fast I gain xp, Sustain has created an amazing resource to show xp gains. Level 0 honestly just doesn't pay, aside from avoiding the brutality and hilarity of the real game.

As stated before, do whatever you find fun, but you'd be missing out to stay there.

The good thing about having 12 characters is you can experiment a little too. So if you're not sure, try lvl 1 with a cheap build, and lvl 0 with a high end expensive build or if you have more xp,
you can try a few more builds at lvl 1.

It's not necessarily bad to hold back one or two characters so that when you go into lvl 1, you have a guaranteed tank, it's just a little pointless putting all your eggs in one extremely long winded and tedious basket.

Agreed. The days when 'power-leveling', to use an RPG term, was a viable tactic (if it ever was) are long gone.

Maybe I should just slap XP on new bots IF they join in on the forums. :-?
Looking at General Incursion, February 11 was a big day for him/her it seems.

Though ... someone jog my memory. Is it possible for a new player to create 12 new bots in the space of half an hour? Isn't there a cost involved that would make doing so prohibitive?

The guy created his first bot and within half an hour had a full team of 12.

Either that's incredibly stalkerish, or you know ... connected.

Its the closest we can get to adding XP to them, and helps with the crushing tedium of level 0, something which High Command loves reminding us about. Also keeps them out of the **** arena and in the missions where they belong.

With so many bots at level zero, this doesn't come as a surprise to me. Another 'Bot could have also seen the new guy and thrown energon at him. I know that's what I did when I saw new players as a level 0 with donations to spare.

And that is pretty awesome, I'd support it (for both teams), but

The only drawback could be energon. CR is free at 0, but costs fron 1+ and inexperienced player may end up bankrupt really quickly.

Although this could be offset by faction funding and training I guess? It's basically what we are both doing currently anyway.

*puts on serious hat for a moment*

L0 really doesn't pay. Results are pretty much entirely down to the RNG. The side with the most players in will win 99% of the time but when there's even numbers in, pure coin toss.

I was planning to upgrade 5 points in stats to upgrade to L1 and leave tactics until later but today I wanged 3k xp at Avoid for my top ranked con, who had just hit 10k, took him right into L1 and he's made 2k xp back already in a few hours.

*Takes serious hat off again, burns it, buries it, digs it up, buries it somewhere else and covered both burial sites in concrete just to be sure.*

Another 2k xp right there. So that's approx 40% increase in xp in under 24 hours by upgrading from L0 to L1 at the earliest opportunity.
