HEY! It's coming along real nice. I like the wall mounted unit. You can use each cubby to tell a different little story. The spice racks make for a great stair step effect. I bet you could spray paint those if you don't like them white.

Is there enough clearance between the top of the wall mount and the ceiling for really big guys like, Superion and the like?

Good stuff Cary. ;)^

I like them white and I really like the black rubbery stuff on the top. They also have little rubber feet. Lots of non-skid action going on here. I just didn't realize how not white my shelves were. Not sure if they have always been this way or just aged. Maybe I will paint them one day, but there will be lots of masking to do.

I wanted to come and point out the spice racks, because we briefly talked about display options on your collection thread. But you beat me to it.

Cobotron wrote:Is there enough clearance between the top of the wall mount and the ceiling for really big guys like, Superion and the like?

Unfortunately no. I think the current combiners will fit. I think I left 15" clearance up there. I wanted to leave 2' for CW Devastator and maybe Metroplex if I ever pull the trigger on that one. But I have a chair underneath that shelf and I didn't want to bonk my head. :BANG_HEAD: So I settled for just enough clearance to have the primary display space be at eye level. So basically I couldn't go with functionality and went with aesthetics instead.

Thanks and thanks for dropping by. If the weather is still nice when I get home today, I will throw the shades open and do and update, but with individual shelf close-ups.

I agree with Cobotron here, I really like the multi-frame approach to the display - not by choice, I can understand that, but it works nonetheless! White can be a great colour to show off the figures too, so I definitely take your choice and share it easily. My background for a long time has been red and variations thereof, so something very neutral is nice to see. :D

Very nice stuff, tidy, pleasing and functional enough to satisfy my inner need for order.

I realized that I really enjoy organizing things when I was making room for the combiner wars figures. It amazes me just how much time I can spend posing a single figure until it's "perfect". I would imagine that is not a unique trait around these parts.

Looking at my shelves you might think I have an inner need for the CHAOS of WAR! I'm not that hardcore at all.
Cary, you were talking about the time spent on a single figure, I often compare the art of collection display to the art of banzai trees. Constantly trimming, and pruning, and tweaking, and babying, until it's juuuuust right. For 100s of years.

The photos are lotso fun BTW. ;)

Wait, what? Do you mean bonsai trees, or is there a relative of the Whomping Willow I am unaware of? :-?

As for the order vs chaos diatribe in one's collection: All I really mean by order is having some sort of reason or rationale behind each display piece. Having smaller areas for displays increases the likelihood of each area having a tidier theme.

Current pics with "better" lighting. So my phone takes bad indoor pictures, even with some natural lighting. I tried with and without a flash. With flash nice and sharp but cold; w/o is better pics, but not in focus. Also I set my camera to VGA resolution so I don't have to resize the images.

Main shelf
Main Full.jpg

There is another shelf to the left there. Probably wont have too many TF figures. Mostly will be home for the few non TF figures and game consoles. You can just spot "Megasharktitron" there and just the top of the NYC FE BB & Arcee set. Haven't decided if I will display them in their box or take them out again.

Top Shelf
Top Main.jpg

Currently random stuff, probably will put "big guys" up there.

MP shelf & misc
MP Main.jpg

Will probably move Jetfire up here.

Combiner Wars
CW Main.jpg

Not sure how I feel about those steps. Currently taking up a lot of space, but I love the way they help display the figures. I may just have to commit and default to my typical museum style. I have a good feeling this shelf will get very full this year. I wanted to make a more dramatic battle scene. Right now everyone is just setup in neat poses, almost kinda looking towards the opposing team. Yes, one Aerialbot is still in his blister pack prison.

Prime shelf
Prime Main.jpg

I forgot Jetfire was down there. I put him there to keep him out of the way while unpacking. Forgot he was there until I took pictures. Does look good with Prime and Magnus though. I would like to try and setup a battle scene here as well. Need more steps and a good Megatron. The Decepticons are out numbered.

Isle of Misfit Toys
Misfit Main.jpg

This is a combo of I don't like how low the shelf is and figures I don't know what to do with. Dupes of PRID figures specifically.

Secondary Shelf

Sorry no wide shot (room too small) - again the top is just random figures that I haven't given a home to, except the WFC seekers. They will probably have a permanent home in a high location. Is it just me or does everyone have at least one seeker set?

Insecticons for now
Insect 2nd2.jpg

Wreckers-ish
Wreckers 2nd.jpg

I say wreckers-ish, because I could pull from other areas to fill out the roster better.

Lost Light
LL 2nd2.jpg

Psst... Hasbro... new Rodimus...

WFC / FoC
WFC 2nd.jpg

And nope, the Seekers up there was not an accident. I love the look of this line. Wish they would have kept it up with the TF Universe game. Did anyone ever check out that game? Had some really cool bot designs. These are the smaller steps Maybe they would work better on my main display?

Spice racks from Bed Bath & Beyond. I want to say $6 for the small ones and $8 for the larger ones.

I wanted clear acrylic displays, but I'm really liking these.

And what kinda pal wouldn't provide links:

Great, thanks and they ship to the UK! Would the larger MP figures fit on there? MP-08 or MP-10 for example?

Voyager class fits just fine. They do have to stand pretty straight forward though. I would guess that the smaller MP would work, just with limited angles. MP-10 feet would fit, but just barely.

I would say the steps are about 2 to 2/12 inches deep.

If I had a jam packed MP shelf and I was going to use the steps. I would put larger figures (like MP-10) behind the steps and then work may way down to smaller figures.

Updated my Combiner Wars shelf. Going for a battle scene.

CW Far.jpg

CW Top.jpg

Playing around with the panorama option on my phone.

CW Pan.jpg

Here is the centerpiece to this display. I'm pretty happy/proud of the results.

Fight Front.jpg
Yup, using a fist as a shield

Fight Left.jpg

Fight Right.jpg

Stunticons.jpg

Aerialbots.jpg
Group Shot - Aerialbots

Now for some close ups of the team members. I skipped some because either the picture was too blurry or I just didn't find the picture that interesting.

I view this guy as the team's little toady. I'm also loving Breakdown's gun blade.

Blackjack.jpg
Gotta a little Cap'n in ya?

Offroad.jpg
Hmmm, an actual use for a backpack...

Nice stuffs :)

I'm currently really into collecting the CW figures so i really enjoyed and feel inspired by your fight scene shelf. Poor Powerglide though, i'm going to open him now as i found him today and i get the feeling being a big red gun will make me feel bad!

I may not have the space to do what you've done, but i really like it. Especially the small units with, as previously said a few posts up... a different story can be told in each!

Yeah top stuff, keep it up :D
