My video review of Generation 1 Wheelie

Postby Desastron » Mon Jul 26, 2010 12:04 pm

I'd like to present my video review of Generation 1 Wheelie.

I know, I know, most people dislike this particular toy and the character in general. But nevertheless it may be interesting for some G1 fans. After all, Wheelie is part of Transformers' history.

Masterpeice Movie Starscream Video Review

Just thought I'd mention that I ran into a video review while wasting time on Youtube. Looking at this guy, I think I might have to grab both this one and the tattooed one. Just cause I need one for the first movie form and the voyager ones suck ball bearings compared to these guys. Not that the ROTF voyager starscream suckes, it's pretty sweet, but the leaderclass is much better. :CON: :KREMZEEK:

Hail to the King! Predaking!

Contents:

#1 sonic sword
#1 Predaking head
#1 X-ray canon
#2 spiked fists
#2 canon feet
#1 wing glider thingie
a lot of kibbles from the various mechs' weapon
#5 instruction manuals

Background:

Either a minion of the Quintessons ( in the DW and anime universe), Megatron's primo hatchet men (IDW) or plain old hunters, this group is among the most wanted of the Destron gestalts. With a similar temperment like the recently released Piranacon, this beast mechanimal transformers know how to use their killer instinct. In his bio, he has no peer (well except for his royal awesomeness Sky lynx). His most finest hour (and animation) IMHO was in the Season 3 episode "Call of the Primitives".

All this PR and I almost didn't buy him back in 1991(he was btw my first combiner).

Similar to Devastar/Devastator, this combiner had to follow a specific combining sequence: Razor Claw (main torso),Headstrong and Tantrum feet even though Rampage and Divebomb (serving as his arms contrary to popular belief, can be interchangeable)

At first look, his colors (orange/yellow/black )are like meehhhhh but it does grow on you. He is quite heavy but very stable (thanks to Tantrum and Headstrong's back pack canons. He's got a Go-lion/Daltanious lion head on his chest (caused a lot of controversy back then with Bandai). Owing to the greatness (I'm not backing out from the statement) of the QC back then, this 'bot of mine is as tight as a virgin. smooth molding, clickty click locking of the connections. To add more to his being a bad@ss, his fists are like spiked!, like them street gang thugs! Poor Bruticus never knew what hit him (reference DW storyline)

Is there anything wrong with this figure, due to old age, his dang labels (especially Razorclaw) keep on pealing off. and he tends to slouch forward.

He also sports some articulation, 9 in fact, so he was also somewhat advance for his time.

So in honor of the upcoming fall release (which also looks awesome), the "King" will be making a comeback.....again.....and is sure to be sold out!

Rating:

When I first bought him...............I found it ugly so 2/5. But after all these years, he did grow on me...............4.99/5

TFA Arcee

Acknowledging some picture references from tfwiki.net and seibertron.com

contents:

# 1 Arcee supercar
# 1 wing kibble
# 2 swords
# 1 blister pack/card backed

Background:

It took HasTak all this years to finally make a direct homage to everyone's favorite fembot from the 1986 movie

Image

............as in she actually transforms into a car.

Image

Though also borrowing from the recent hermaphrobot IDW storyline, she also comes with two energon swords to better cut you with (I'm looking at you Jhiaxus)

Image

Review:

Anyway back to the lady herself. The stylized design fits her well. How the engineers of Takara fit her lithe body into the cybertronian car mode and still come out looking feminine is a feat itself (I'm looking at you Override)

Image

Other gimmicks include light piping:

Image

Btw, the highlighted details are my customs to make her look more like her animation art work, including lip gloss

Image

Kibbles? Well she has those twin ailerons which gives her a futuristic look but IMHO ruins her visage.

Image

You can also stick/store her energon blades into her rear...............fender(?) ( that becomes her shoulder armor in robot mode)

Image

Articulation? I count 10. Though the amount of poses are kind of limited (especially her front wind shield which prevents her from actually sitting properly)

Image

Differences with Hasbro's?

Matte finish, silver autobot sigils (a second run of the Hasbro version is said to have a slightly different finish) and some additional/changes in paint apps on her feet and torso.

My actual unit:

Image

full body shot

Image

Close up

Image

"Mission accomplished........sir!"

Image

Slice and dice baby!

Complaints?

Heard that constant holding of her energon blades tends to break her thumbs. So, unless you've got two versions of her, avoid doing so like a plague.

Her neck is also too......thin, if not handled carefully, it's a stress point which may lead to breakage.

Price: Good and bad or is it due to Hasbro's idiotic system of distribution? A lot of scalpers have made a killing off her. She was quite hard to find as a TRU exclusive. but lately, there were reports that TRU sold her on-line as a buy 1 take 1 50% off promo so go figure.

The Takara version too is quite hard to find, (not sure if the Japan version too is a limited release or just that demand for her is also as high)

Rating:

4.8/5.0 owing to the fact that we finally have the closest official thing to the original. So nostalgia on my part plays a huge factor on my rating.

Good luck finding one brothers!

Super quick reviews of 5 new figures I just got.

Postby Prime Riblet » Wed Aug 11, 2010 1:36 am

Motto: "Mottos! We need no stinking mottos!"

I picked up a few new figures this morning, and I am actually very happy with everything I bought. The figures I bought were HA Jazz, WFC Prime, Drift, Thrust and Hubcap.

HA Jazz - I have to say Jazz and Barricade are far and away my favorites of the Human Alliance line. Most modes for Jazz look amazing. HA Jazz is solid as a rock in alt mode, and he is really stable and poseable in bot mode. I love the motorcycle/gun, and the flip up visor is ingenious.
I am really happy I bought it.

Generations Drift - This figure impresses me in a bunch of ways, but mostly I like the fact that he carries 3 bladed weapons and all can be stored in his alt mode. Both modes look great, and he is another happy purchase for me.

Generations Thrust - This was a no-brainer for me to buy. Love it. It isn't perfect, but I love it.

WFC Prime - This is a seriously intersting figure. The bot mode is outstanding. The alt mode is good as long as you like Cybertronian alt modes ( I like it better than I thought I would). The thing I like the most is the transformation-this is easily one of the most intersting transformations of any of the newer lines. The only downfall to this figure, and it could just be mine, is that all the ball joints seem loose. Oh well, I still like it a lot.

HFTD Hubcap - I am completely in love with this figure. I think this thing is near perfect in every way. I absolutely love both modes, the transformation, the poseability........another winning Scout-class design.

Not really a review. I just wanted to say a couple things about each figure. I am just really surprised that I actually bought anything from the store in the first place, and then none disappointed me at all. That hasn't happened for quite a long time. I am very impressed with these figures.

A few quick review comments, followed by pictures tommorow

PCC 2-pack:Leadfoot and Pinpoint

Leadfoot.
Leadfoot is a very good use of the Formula 1 model.
He's a little more involved transformation wise than the 5-packs, and he has a nice Supermode head. The toy features a reference to G.B. Blackrock, who was an important character in the Marvel comic, but no other sponser labels.

Pinpoint.
Pinpoint is like everything good about Power/Godmaster figures.
His engine mode isn't bad, but his bot mode is great. One nifty thing about him is that his guns are accessable in every mode, without losing any of his limbs.

Have fun watching them.

Hey guys, I finally made my first written review of Double Clutch & the Rallybots. I plan to ultimately review all the PCC line first. Hopefully I'll be able to do a video review once I figure out a good camera set up as all I have is my iPhone 4. Please let me know what you think and if there is info you guys think I should add or remove to help me better future reviews. You can comment here or on the blog. I don't include detailed instructions on how to transform them completely as I find it kind of useless to read it literally. I forgot to take individual shots of the drones, so I'll add those tomorrow. Thanks in advance!
