Yeah, let's not celebrate how the Transformers came to be. Great idea! [sarcasm]

A comment like that is like saying "Diaclone is stupid, it should have never happened, just let it go". I don't mean to step on your shoes, but I don't think you understand the gravitas of this. Without Diaclone and Macross, Transformers wouldn't even be here. Hasbro and Takara know this and acknowledge this by releasing figures such as Whirl and the upcoming Roadbuster.

I dunno, I guess I'm letting my values take over here, but let me say this: just be grateful for what it is. It's a figure of a fan-loved character, it's in-scale with a good number of Classics-themed characters, it's got chrome, it's got a faceplate that's an homage to his Macross heritage... just freaking get over it and appreciate what they're doing! :BANG_HEAD:

Believe it or not, I dont hate robotech. But I think its time to move on to skyfire already. Its one thing to buy a mold and incorporate it into a line. But it was never part of the cartoon due to licensing reasons. So why put it in a line of toys made to homage the cartoon ? Besides the macross jet is out of scale with other generations figures. Im assuming it was made leader class to give the robot mode a proper G1 cartoon scale compared to other generations figures. So why give it an out of scale coffee table jet mode that could probally fit a GI Joe figure in its cockpit ? Give it the cybertronian cargo jet mode that everyone really wants...

I love the cover work here and his gun-pod like weapon. I'm hoping Dr.Wu or another 3rd Party will help produce a identical weapon. This latest Jetfire/Skyfire is impressive IMO but I too am eager to see what Takara has in store for us! :VEHI:

That chrome. Ugh. It's going to flake and look terrible in less than a year. Probably be completely gone within a decade. Heck, the figure might disintegrate by then, too.

Looks great in pretty much every way (taking into consideration that this isn't third party and Hasbro often gets close and fails). I don't really see anything to hate, but maybe just not enough to get you to go nuts over it, since it is a lot of white. I think this thing looks quite amazing though. I bet some better poses will help too, as the Hasbro pics always look dumb with the way they pose it.

But ye, I cannot fault a single part of it so far, and I'm already expecting robot kibble underneath jet mode.

Meh. Besides the red chrome, his torso is too squat. His chest isn't long enough or wide enough. And his waist is too small. Also they should've hidden some of the lower-wing kibble in robot mode. This only accentuates his squat chest. And don't get me started on the upcoming Roadbuster's pencil legs.

I really consider the original generations jetfire to be one of my fave figures ever. This one looks good.. the size makes him look like something I'd like in the collection but I dunno.. might be the first generations figure I intentionally skip

+ the red chrome makes him look like a camp disco diva.
My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -

Sorry if this bugs you, but I don't like the way the MP-scaled Jetfire looks. It doesn't have the visor which is something that I loved about the G1 Jetfire toy. The DaCa Toys Kronos doesn't have the extra armor and I haven't seen a picture of a weapon or his walking jet mode. It's also something that HasTak has not or will never think of.
1. It's not MP scaled. It's Generations scaled.
2. It does so have a visor.
3. The robot mode is based on the cartoon animation model, which deviated from the toy's Macross design to make it different enough so that it wouldn't interfere with Harmony Gold's Robotech series.

Well I already know it's the cartoon's design. To stop the commotion, I may get this figure since my Classics Jetfire is broken.

I'm surprised Hasbro made Jetfire after the SDCC Jetfire/ G.I. Joe got hit with legal issues. Jetfire hardly makes my favourites list but this dude looks awesome!

I'm still not impressed. That chrome is just off-putting, and in robot mode the wings aren't accurate to G1. They might be iDW's version, but it doesn't look like G1 Jetfire or Skyfire. Then again, neither does the "official" G1 toy. The jet mode is actually not bad, and I might buy it and keep it in jet mode, as my original G1 Jetfire is standing tall in robot mode. I'm still hoping for a MP version.

Oh noes! The Classics-style updated toy for Jetfire doesn't look 100% exactly the same as the original 1980's Sunbow cartoon animation model like a Masterpiece toy should!

Yeah, and neither did 90% of all other Classics-style updated toys, yet everyone loves those. >:oP

think the mixed feelings stem from the fact there already was a very good generations incarnation of this character. So if they release a new version it should be either significantly better or bring something new to the mix. Which for many this new version doesn't seem to do.

It feels all kind of "why bother with this when there are other characters that need revamping". Though if this sets a precedent, it might mean a larger astrotrain or galvatron might some day be forthcoming

Perhaps not, but he DOES look exactly like an up-gunned version of the Jetfire that's piloting the Ark-7 in RiD #28. No surprise really, considering how Thrilling 30 is pretty much IDW: the Toyline.

Indeed. Oh, look, the cover for July's issue of RID! ;)

Dammit Va'al, I had myself pretty much talked out of getting this figure until you pulled THAT ace out of your sleeve. I'm still not a fan of the weapons but now all my arguments about the body style have gone out the window. Your are seriously on my wallets **** list now! :P

Indeed I believe the main point in this new design is to bring back a great character and updated, clean of similitudes. Here my VF-1S Toy pictures to compare it with.

MACROS VF-1S VS GI Joe Jetfire VS Thrilling 30 Jetfire

I'm quite happy to stick with my Classics Jetfire. Wouldn't say I hate this one, but I prefer the way the one I already have looks, and it'll be a darn sight cheaper for me to get a hold of it.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

I'm also surprised at the reaction the chrome. Sure red was the original style, but the chrome makes this figure look so much cooler, and more high end or metallic. I also feel the looks of all modes are the perfect compromise between all the older incarnations. The classics version was alright, but I always felt that jet mode sucked, and looked very "toy-ish". This thing looks like its based of a real jet fighter in real life, making that much nicer a collection piece, and since the original toy was the Macross jet, it doesn't feel like its violating its past either. Well, with many people not digging, hopefully it will be easier to find at retail.

Fidelity to G1 in the Generations line seems misplaced. This looks like an awesome update to me, and a worthy first foray into Leader scale for Generations.

I have a feeling people will be changing their tune once this guy hits shelves.
