Inside Omega Supreme – Energon Reservoir

Rung continued to silently monitor the terminal he was stationed at, but he continued to keep his audios in tune to what Howlstrike was saying. Not only that but he wound up catching a quick peek over his shoulder just to gauge the former Predacon’s features. Inflections in vocal processors could be faked but facial features in the heat of the moment were nearly impossible to feign...and Howlstrike was caught off guard by Arclight’s query.

So far things were good. Meditation seemed to work for the tracker, something Rung was quite happy to see. A smile slipped onto his visage as he went back to work.

---------

Streamlight had taken up a position at another terminal, of course his optics may’ve been focused on the scream his mind had begun to wander back to what had happened in the recent past. Garrus 9, their escape, Rung and him, and finally meeting up with the others. But, what about the others. The former guard sighed as he leaned back heavily and ran his remaining hand down the length of his face.

He turned slightly in his chair when he heard one of the other mechs call over to Rung. What was that all about?

Inferno entered the bridge of the ship where several other Wreckers were. It was good to be back. However, it wasn’t good to have missed a slagging fight.

“Ah fragging Primus, this is great,” was the first thing that came out of Inferno’s mouth after had been asleep for a while in the CR chamber, “I missed a lot, haven’t I? Which century is this?”

Inferno walked across the room and looked out into space,

“Is that Omega Supreme? Here? Frag, I’ve been gone for a while, haven’t I? My apologies.”

Broadside noticed as Inferno walked in, looking like he'd just woken up out of own beauty rest. When the red 'bot spoke (quite frustrated too), he chuckled and went over to him. "You and I both, 'Ferno!" He gave the smaller 'bot a light slap on the shoulder joint. "Let me get ya up to speed like Sandy did for me!"

He pointed towards the screen with Omega Supreme and Sky Lynx displayed. "Scourge and some other fraggin' 'Cons were harassing good ol' Supreme there. Sky Lynx, Springs and the rest here took care of 'em and now we're 'bout ta tow the big guy out. Apparently some of our own team is on Omega gettin' him functioning."

Inferno always liked Broadside as a teammate. Always ready to jump in the action as Inferno was- For different reasons at times of course, but they commonly understood eachother's frustrations. And as far as the fire truck Wrecker was concerned, being left out was never as bad when someone else was left out with them.

"Thanks for the update, Broady. Yeah, you're lookin a bit too shiny to have to have just been in a battle yourself," said Inferno in a playful tone.

Inferno then got closer to the screen and looked at what exactly was happening a bit closer. Upgrading viewing screens wasn't particularly something on an Autobot's top priority during such time of war with little to no breaks, but Inferno always wished the details were only a smidge sharper. Just to make it easier on the optics.

"Heh, so who was the biggest trouble? The Sweeps, or Sky Lynx?" joked Inferno to no-one in particular.

"I'm so very sorry, Commander Sky Lynx. The pods were busted and we couldn't get out. We will get right on cleaning this up."

Indygo bent down to clean it, and Quickslinger went to do her part in the mess. Ah, this was his moment.

“Don’t worry about your messes, ladies,” Redline spoke up, moving over to Indygo and prompting her to stand. “I’ll do you this favor. Please! Please. I beg you, do not trouble yourselves.” Pushing Sweetspark gently to the side, Redline began cleaning up the mess. It was annoying and beneath him, but he’d at least get something out of it.

>>”Hm. Well, I…suppose that’s fine. Awfully kind of him,”<< Sky Lynx muttered, more to himself than to the other that could hear him. >>”Anyhow. I suppose you two have questions? Feel free to ask them. I’d be happy to regale you with a tale or-“<<

Sky Lynx’s voice cut off abruptly as he realized that he left the others on the line hanging. Blast it all, how rude of him. He opened a separate comm with the rest of the Autobot forces.

>>”Apologies gentlemechs, I seem to be carrying some subordinates within me that I had…ah…for…er…neglected to remember were my passengers. Where was I?”<<

While awaiting an answer from his surely riveted comrades, he addressed those within him again. >>”We’re currently travelling with an assortment of Autobots in various…ah…craft. I’ve been recounting tales of battle and glory. If you wish to listen in, merely tune into the general communication frequency.”<<

Arclight’s optics went wide at the sudden and intense glare from Howlstrike. She jerked back, wondering if she had hit a nerve or something.

“I’m sorry, sweetspark, what the frag did you just ask us? Are we…um…together? Is that what you asked?!”

“W-Well, I-I mean,” she stuttered. Oh Primes. Arclight had embarrassed him. She could see it in his faceplate. “But! You two looked…! I dunno?! Cute?! It’s nothing to be ashamed of, Howl. It’s…” Arclight trailed off, figuring that she was just making it worse. She offered a wordless shrug to him instead.

“My dear, Blindy and I are just friends,” Howlstrike responded sternly, making sure that Arclight understood what he was saying. “He may have his hand on my shoulder, but that does not mean we are conjunx endura or anything of the sort! I mean…I…I’m not the type to have relationships like that. For Primus sakes, I barely have any friends!”

“Okay, okay. I got it. Just friends. Don’t worry! Just a mistunderstanding!” Arclight said, putting up her hands defensively. “And I mean, Howl, I wouldn’t…think poorly of you for having that or having friends! Everyone deserves someone special. I mean…You’re a nice mech! I like you!” Arclight stated, trying to reassure the former Predacon before she realized how her words could be interpreted. “ER! I mean! We’re friends, aren’t we?!”

Smooth. Smooth, Arclight. So very not smooth. Oh, Primes help her. Now she was embarrassed. She looked to Blindside with pleading optics, hoping desperately that he wouldn’t have a joke to make about the situation. But he seemed completely unresponsive, which confused her. She was about to ask Howlstrike when a chuckle sounded from across the chamber. She couldn’t bear to face them.

“Don’t say a word, Rung, or so help me they’ll have to purge my tanks in order to put you back together!”

“Sorry, I’ll just…I’ll shut up about that now,” Arclight muttered to Howlstrike before turning to the other two Bots and waving. “Don’t mind us! Just forget anything you might have heard!” She let out a sigh, echoing Howlstrike’s own before looking again to Blindside and waving her hand in front of his face.

“What’s with him, anyway? Do you think he’s too embarrassed to move?”

- :BOT: -

Blindside’s world was one of nothingness except for the floor beneath him, the wall behind him, and Howlstrike who sat next to him. With sight and sound gone, touch was the most reassuring thing that he had left. But Howlstrike had gone quiet, leaving alone with his thoughts, which invariably drifted to Veneer. His grip on Howlstrike tensed a bit as he thought of Vee, possibly waking up without him there.

It was bad for him to brood and dwell on it like this. It took him to a dark place in his mind that he preferred to avoid unless absolutely necessary. Maybe some conversation would take his mind off of it. He didn’t want to further antagonize Howl, but Rung was someone he hadn’t seen in quite some time. As much of a snoop as the good doctor could be, he was pleasant enough company.

Indygo found that her gestures had worked. Quickslinger quickly moved in to help the assassin. She soon found herself being hoisted up and pushed off to the side by the very much larger Redline

“Don’t worry about your messes, ladies. I’ll do you this favor. Please! Please. I beg you, do not trouble yourselves.”

Now he had Indygo's full attention. He wanted something from her. He was manipulating her and Quickslinger for something. Well, trying at the very least. Redline was making little, if any effort, to hide his true intentions.

Indygo almost smiled. Like Quickslinger, he was becoming easier and easier to read. He wanted, no needed, something. Whether is was a future favor or something specific would have to wait.

Indygo decided to give in, or at least make him think that she was giving in. Besides, better he than her clean that mess up anyhow.

Indygo put on a grateful smile. "Thank you very much. I appreciate it."

To prove her point, Indygo put a hand on the back of his neck. She was making an effort to appear to be thankful, all the while letting a small device come from her palm and attach to his neck, located where the armor met the head. As soon as it attached to him, the circular object shifted color to match the armor plating.

That's done.

She looked up as Sky Lynx offered to regale them with a tale. No! Of course I don't want to hear your bombastic stories, you overgrown chicken!

Indygo sighed, remembering that sacrifices needed to be made to further the Plan. She could always kill Sky Lynx later. With carefully veiled reluctance, she opened her comms to listen in on what he had to say.

"Commander? Would you mind telling us where we are and our destination?"

Ugh. Well, at least these two were cooperative. Something about Sweetspark put him off though. He really didn’t trust her as far as she could throw him, which wasn’t much. Or at all probably, hah. Little pipsqueak that she was. She patted him lightly on the back of the neck. What was he? A pet? Ah, well, a little adoration never hurt, especially was he was doing the dirty work.

It didn’t take too long to clean up the worst of the mess, and Sky Lynx had these little automated drones milling about and tending to the things that he missed as well.

"Commander? Would you mind telling us where we are and our destination?"

>>”Well, after that scoundrel Grimlock stole the Trion, I went in pursuit. We’re in the main theatre of war now. The Sol system. We’re returning to regroup with the rest of the Autobot forces now. It’s been quite exciting.”<<

“Sounds like it, commander,” Redline commented, straightening up as he dumped the last of the broken glass and tried scraping some of the fluid off of his claws. He glanced to the two femmes. “Looks like we’ve been reassigned! Thank Primus, I was dying of boredom over on Cas Collar.”

Quickslinger really didn't want Redline's help. In fact, she ignored him. And refused to even let him around her pod where she was cleaning. She wasn't any damsel is distress, she knew damn well what she was doing.

While they cleaned, she took a minute to check out her colleagues. Redline was loud, but maybe used that as a cover. Empurata was a terrible thing to have to live with, so maybe he had issues with self confidence? Eh, she wasn't a psychiatrist, so she didn't know.

Indygo was an odd duck, though. Or an old duck, maybe. Quickslinger doubted the femme had much to offer at this point. If the bot had many resources, she'd not be on an Autobot shuttle, locked in a CR pod.

Sky Lynx wrote:>>”Well, after that scoundrel Grimlock stole the Trion, I went in pursuit. We’re in the main theatre of war now. The Sol system. Combat! Yes!!! Finally, she would be to help out. Get some more stars on her record. Show the Decepticons that you shouldn't mess with her. Well, after they find Grimlock first. Then take down 'Cons.

Grimlock, though... Stupid bot, but strong. Aw, scrap. Quickslinger looked at her new crew. Redline may have a chance against Dinobots, but not the little one. She was a chew toy, for sure. The best weapons here was Sky Lynx and herself, of course. This was ,of course, if they even went after them.

Broadside was getting bored. He needed some action. His armour was waiting to get bruised. "Yo, Springs, Sandy, Ferno, what do y'all say we hit the ship in ta overdrive? Mah armour plates are gettin' rusty stickin' 'round here."

The large grey wrecker punched his fists together. Maybe he could fly over across to Omega Supreme and push the big guy all the way back.

"Ohh you're not enjoying Sky Lynx's tales of heroics? Haha, I can relate," said Inferno in response to Broadside, "Maybe we could find something to do around here, eh?"

Inferno pulled out a can of high grade that he'd been saving for a while since boarding the shuttle. He popped the lid, and then realized that it was all spoiled from the CR chamber he was in.

"GAH! Idiot! I'm such an idiot," exclaimed Inferno sadly, "I was looking forward to that! Ah well."

Indygo stepped back to allow iRedline to finish cleaning up the mess. She gave him a nod. "Thank you."

The gunslinger was checking her out. Indygo could tell, and see that Quickslinger was making no effort to hide the fact that she was trying to get a read on the assassin. She returned Quickslinger's look with a smile that any other bot would identify as friendly.

Indygo took no pleasure from hearing Sky Lynx's report about Grimlock. He and his...his fellow creatures that some bots graciously called a 'team'. Whatever. Not her business, at least right now.

But the main theatre of the war...

That would mean that the faction leaders would be here. Specifically the poor sap that called himself a Prime. Indygo would scoff at such a presumptuous claim, but she realized that he was simply naive.

But still...this was perfect.

Quickslinger wrote:"What's on the agenda after we regroup? Fight some 'Cons or what?"

Indygo chuckled. "I hope not. I don't know how much good I'd be in a fight."

Well, one out of two wasn’t that bad. Seemed like Killer was the independent type. Eh, good for her. Redline’s one blue optics swiveled from her to Indygo. That one, however, was all too happy to let him to her dirty work. Interesting pair. Killer – er – Quickslinger reminded him of some Wreckers that he’d served with over the years. That brought to mind not entirely pleasant memories. Stupid. Scratching his head with a claw absently, Redline shoved those thoughts to the back of his mind where they belonged.

"What's on the agenda after we regroup? Fight some 'Cons or what?"

"I hope not. I don't know how much good I'd be in a fight."

>>”I’m not sure to be honest,”<< Sky Lynx replied, >>”I suppose after we touch base with Ultra Magnus, we’ll be reassigned. We must stand tall against the Decepticons even with the loss of Optimus Prime. Ah! Oh, right, you’re probably not aware. Pardon my insensitivity, but you all had to find out one way or another. It seems our leader Optimus Prime fell. Ultra Magnus appears to be carrying on in his stead though. I imagine we’ll be getting new marching orders from him upon our return. It seems Omega Supreme here has something rather important to tell him.”<<

Redline squinted. What. He looked to the others. “Did he say what I think he just said?” he asked, jabbing a claw upward. Optimus was gone? Damn. Well, Redline had been no big fan of the guy as he seemed to value the lives of other planets more than his own soldiers’ at times, but…that was a big blow to the Autobots. Especially with buckethead still around.

“Tch, great. Just great.”

Quickslinger scoffed. She took another glance at the little femme and chuckled. "Then why is your chassis out here on the front lines? Maybe you and your 'resources' would be better served at Command?"

Shaking her head, she looked back at Redline, letting her stare stay for a little bit. He mind wondered back to the injustice the poor 'Bot had to endure. She didn't care much for what she knew of Redline, but still... She wanted to know he's s story, at least.

Sky Lynx wrote:"I suppose after we touch base with Ultra Magnus, we’ll be reassigned. We must stand tall against the Decepticons even with the loss of Optimus Prime. Ah! Reassignment? Well, too bad. She wasn't particularly fond of her current couple of colleagues, though sticking around with Sky Lynx would've been cool.

Wait a minute... Optimus Prime was... gone? As in... dead? Sky Lynx seemed to imply so. But... but... how?!! Sadness quickly begin to wash over her, reflecting in her optics. How did this happen?!! Who did... Megatron. Megatron must've killed him. Anger began to add to her pool of emotions.

"What... do you mean... by Optimus... being gone?" She growled, slowly letting her emotions take controls.

“We are not going to “overdrive” this thing while we are towing Omega back.” Springer interjected to his fellow Triplechanger and Inferno. “Big guy needs to make a recovery, I’d rather not rock the ambulance. Heh. If you wanna go sit in his vapor trails and scorch yourselves to a crisp, by all means go for it.” The green and yellow Triplechanger gauged his monitor and noted how the Longevity had just passed the Martian orbit. They weren’t too far out from reentering the Terran-orbit. “Besides, were almost there, no sense in hoping out just to get back in, amiright?”

Speaking of which, Springer figured he ought to call over towards Omega and see how he and his “crew” were handling themselves. Could never be too sure with Sandstorm and the Lambros at the wheel.

"Relax, Springs, can't ya handle a joke?" Broady laughed. Silly Springer, his commander status made him less funny than he was before. "Of course we ain't gonna actually push big ol' Omega back ourselves, haha. I got optics too, ya know!"

The big triple-changer looked at the screen to see the red planet fly by. "So this is the fourth one, eh? Looks a hella lot like the Sea of Rust, but a bit nicer." Something about Mars seemed a bit off to Broadside. It kinda felt as if it wasn't quite as dead of a space rock as he thought it was. "Ah well, can't wait ta get back to the fleet. Been itching ta slag some 'Cons!"

"BAHAHA!" laughed Inferno, "We're Wreckers, 'Springs! You think we're stupid enough to think that would work?! Ha! Insulting!" Inferno laughed even more.

Indygo was getting the all too uncomfortable feeling that Redline was trying to read her. The way his gaze swiveled from Little Miss Shoot-'Em-Up to her made the assassin nervous. It took all of her acting chops to not let her expression change from the image of the cheery, naive femme.

Quickslinger wrote:"Then why is your chassis out here on the front lines? Maybe you and your 'resources' would be better served at Command?"

Indygo laughed, turning to face Quickslinger. "I'm waiting reassignment. I'm in recon. My job's to scout enemy defenses and figure out their weaknesses."

That was partially true. Her 'official' job was recon, but the Autobot Alliance often employed her for less than reputable activities. Besides, her job was so much more important and beyond the two poor saps that she had the misfortune of sharing a ride with.

Sky Lynx wrote:"Pardon my insensitivity, but you all had to find out one way or another. It seems our leader Optimus Prime fell."

About damned time. The fake Prime had done a lot of damage to the Autobots in his millions long leadership. Magus was a good replacement. A soldier was the best source of leadership in wartime, even if he was a bit stuck up.

The others seemed to have different reactions to the news Sky Lynx brought. Quickslinger went the typical loyal puppy dog route. Loyal, angry. Vengeful. Easier to manipulate. Indygo almost smiled.

Then Redline...

His verbal reaction spoke volumes. Indygo was willing to bet that he didn't care too much about Prime, but probably respected him in some way. Understandable. Unfortunately, that was only supposition. As usual, Indygo couldn't get a real read off him thanks to his...disability. Oh well.

For her part, Indygo let her face fall. Pulling on all her acting ability, she dropped on the ground in supposed grief. "Prime? Dead? N-no. T-this isn't possible. H-how? Why?"

Sandstorm smirked at the Mean Green Machine's response to their discussing the possibilities surrounding getting Omega Supreme back to Sol-3 faster.

"So this is the fourth one, eh? Looks a hella lot like the Sea of Rust, but a bit nicer. Ah well, can't wait ta get back to the fleet. Been itching ta slag some 'Cons!"

"Yeah, this solar system has some weird planets. Gas balls. Liquid balls. Rock balls. Then outta all that you get Earth. Life coming from cellular glop. It's pretty impressive."

As the caravan of space vehicles got closer to Earth, Sunstreaker began to transmit the necessary protocols of Autobot recognition and clearance.

The orders he received were curious. They were not to regroup with any of the other vessels. They were to head planetside.

"Well, not that it hasn't been a pleasure, but it appears our voyage is coming to an end. We're being directed to the mudball. Apparently we have some kind of base camp-in-progress and the higher-ups want us there."

Sunstreaker examined the map of the region more closely.

"Hm. Looks mountainous and wildly inhospitable. Lovely."
