I have a friend who experienced a shadow person in his home. He told me he prayed to Jesus as loud as he could because he was so afraid and it went away and he never saw it again. I believe in the power of Christ as a method of dispersing these things. My heart rate increased just reading about your guys' experiences.

In the Orthodox Church, the 'Hallowed be thy name' prayer ("Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name.Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven..") is the Official prayer for self 'exorcism' against undesirable spirits. There is most likely a list of codified 'prayers/mantras/equivalent(respectfully) to use when...' in all of the older monotheistic faiths, at least.

Things along the lines of these Shadows are not uncommon here. A few (but not all) include the silence and a 'being held down' type of experience. Tho some just give out a 'waiting patiently' vibe, others seem Nightmarish. One soldier I know experienced one which held him down until he gave up.He says that as soon as he stopped resisting a voice told him something. I've had similar experiences (Not always voices, but visions, feelings - or bizarre dream-journeys (Like the Native American 'Medicine Walk' in my opinion) with no exit-places etc but the shadows have often changed to less scary (more 'unarmed') silhouettes over time and none which have gone have come back.

Damn, why did I have to read this thread right before I go to bed? Looks like I'm going to be sleeping with the light on tonight.

Well, then, here is a list of POSITIVE 'paranomal' experiences to ease your mind:

* Obi Wans description of the Force in A New Hope.(As Qui Gon says- Focus determines reality- dwelling on Old Bens words grants a feeling of shared control in an encounter with anything spooky, in my opinion).

* Getting up on time to go somewhere, getting interrupted by something like an 'annoying' visit or phone call that drags on, leaving 2 hours late and accidentally running into somebody important from the past who has been out of your life for ages, would never otherwise have been re-encountered, and turns out to be a welcome return!

*KNOWING that the next batch of Transformers have arrived in the shop *Today!!!!!!* (Don't tell me it's never happened to each of you- I won't believe you readily unless you only collect casually or have just begun). It happened to me with Armada wave 1 and TFP/RID wave 1 and still happens with the latest posted Epic Rap Battles of History on YouTube every now and then.

*Suddenly deciding to turn left instead of right down some street, and then suddenly avoiding a brawl or coming across an accident where you can help.

*Picking up the phone to call someone just when it rings and it's them!

*Opening a random book in a random bookshop to a random page, reading a paragraph of blah, and then magically being specifically equipped to stop two friends from breaking up a year later with that exact suddenly recalled blah!

*Getting the urge to start a chat with a total stranger who turns out to have significant information or loads of stuff in common with you.

*Channel surfing and having characters in different shows all have the same name.(huh? moment-happened to me more than once with News reports, then Law & Order shows & some Greys anatomy type show about plastic Surgeons, with a name & case repeated the next night on some other Crime Night type show).

*Standing around the front door in a hurry to leave, positive you forgot something & trying hard & fast to remember what it is you forgot, when the phone rings to tell you "don't rush cuz I'm running late"- and it turns out during your more casual post phone call triplecheck that you never forgot anything in the first place.

OK, I'll reply first again:

I'd be very happy if the creature was a Plesiosaur. I want to believe that it did exist but my head tells me that even if it did, it is now gone- dwindling mating territories & Old age, see.

I got told about a 'historical record' written by Caesars' troops in Africa who came across a 30 foot lizard and killed it with arrows. Again, I like to assume that this was a Dinosaur. I've never found an Archaeologist who knows about this record and have never seen or heard it mentioned anywhere outside of a Pub chat, but in their defense, there are few Archaeologists in SE Europe who specialize in pre paleolithic human periods as most Mediterranean governments preserve these finds as Heritage and don't dig deeper than that layer.

However, there are lakes ALL OVER Europe which are called 'Dragon Lakes'. There's one within 60km of where I live (Google 'Drakolimni' if you wish) . It's on top of a Mountain (called Strakka). A Historical Geologist I once spoke to about it said that the Mountain is interesting because it looks just like a Volcano plug, but is missing the Volcano. Also, it is reported to have a Glacier in it from the last Ice age, which feeds the wellsprings of the river Voidomatis in the Vikos Gorge. A Belgian survey team tried to measure the depth of the lake (altitude 2222 above Sea Level) in the early 80s, according to my Old Dad but they didn't succeed in hitting the lake bottom.I think they tried with a Helicopter & a giant reel. Obviously, there is zero sign of a Dragon there.

Interesting enough. But keep in mind that a whole lot of people didnt really believe in the giant squid until a couple years ago. Also, it is said that 85% of our earth remains un explored and un discovered. You never do know what lurks down there. New species are found every day.

Yeah, but that's hardly paranormal. It goes right back to my original point in trhis thread; once discovered / explained... You can drop the 'para-', 'crypto-' and whatever the hell you can write in front of stuff simply not commonly known.

Yeah, so the undiscovered things shall continue to be intriguing.

Yeah, I think creatures like the Loch Ness Monster could easily exist. New things are discovered all the time. As for aliens, I'm not too sure, but I'm not opposed to believing that they also could exist.

Now... ghosts. Again, I'm not 100% sure, but unless I'm just messed up in the head somehow (which could definitely be the case), I've seen something like them before, and so have several of my closest friends. Personally, I would say it's demons (I do believe in those). I'm a Christian, so I've looked around in the Bible for anything concerning "ghosts", and the best thing I've come up with so far is demons. I don't believe that they can physically harm me, but that they can make their presence known, and are more likely to do so in times of uncertainty or tumult. I myself have always felt like I've been followed by a specific entity who has looked the same every time I've seen it. I swear I've seen it in dreams, outside windows and in mirrors at night, as well as in broad daylight, just meandering around in my home.

Here's where it gets childish and stupid sounding. It has always looked like a clown, but I have no fear of clowns, so I don't believe a phobia would be a proper explanation for its appearance. If I'm dreaming, it always hides somewhere off to the side, and tries to get my attention. If I ever turn to look at it, the dream immediately turns into a nightmare. If I see it outside of a dream, it just grins and sends a chill down my spine. It only goes away if I walk into another room and then return. I honestly can't think of a very good way to explain it.

Coming back to the whole "monster" thing, I believe dinosaurs existed at one time, and surely there are a couple of them that have survived. Other species have been believed to be extinct, and then shown up again years later, so it's possible. As for creatures like Bigfoot, I'm not sure. I've heard a lot of stories around here (I live in Tennessee, so I'm surrounded by mountains and wooded areas), but I've never actually seen anything myself.

First thing. GET A **** PRIEST.
Secondly, Dinosaurs DID roam the land. And alot of them died off. But a large group survived, and evolved. Today, they are known as Birds.
Lastly, SERIOUSLY, PRIEST.

The giant squid isn't at all comparable since we've had actual, physical proof of them for quite some time. Moses Harvey preserved and photographed a corpse of one way back in 1873.
The same is not true of most modern cryptids.

Well, actually, it is. Alot of people did'nt believe that photo was real until proven otherwise. Look at all the cryptography that's out now. a good lot of it's fake as hollywood, but there are some that have baffled the minds of scientists and people everywere for years.

You have to dig through various sites to find anything compelling, but there is some pretty convincing **** out there.
