Im looking to buy WFC for pc (cuz i dont own a 360 :-( )

but I would rather not use the WASD and the mouse....

can anyone recommend a good PC controller?

doesnt have to be anything fancy, just one that allows for smooth gameplay and wont break on me w/in 6mo!

thanks!

The Xbox 360 controller. It's USB and it's already programmed to act like a PC gamepad.

That said, a good ol' fashion controller might be smoother compared to WASD, but it's not nearly as sensitive as a mouse. I wonder if they ever made something that used both thumbstick and mouse...

thanks!

is there a driver i will need to install or download? or will plugging it in my PC be enough?

I know the mouse WASD combo can be superior when it comes to speed and sensitivity but i prefer the feel of console gaming.

Unfortunately, TF:WFC does not support ANY controller except wasd and mouse. You would/will have to mapp those keys to the controller.

Incorrect. The game does recognize the controller, but there's no way to remap the keys. I've lost count of the number of posts (all over the internet, not here) where people stated their 360 controller worked.

Lilypad is a great easy way to do this.

And yes, 360 controller is by far the nicest. Sony could learn a thing or two from it...

I'm with you. I bought a 360 controller the instant I found out it would work with the computer.

One of the reasons I had never finished Portal (which I finally did) was because WASD+Mouse was just way too difficult for me to get the hang of.

Granted, they're right. Your movements are more deliberate, the mouse is more precise and tends to move faster, but unless you know that control scheme by heart, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

So glad the controller works. I made sure all of my games can use it. I don't own WFC yet, but I will soon. The controller issue of "will it or won't it?" is one of the reasons why I didn't go and buy the game on opening day.
