Rated X wrote:Black Arachnia is a character from the Beeast Wars era. If some 3rd party decided to make the Predacons or Terrorcons into "neo" vechicles, the fandom would send them to hell. So why have Black Arachnia as a bike ??? It's just dumb. I expect dumb from Hasbro (Cheetor and Quickstrike as cars, Air Razor as a jet) But from a 3rd party company I dont expect lame neo re-tools.

There's many different kinds of fans out there... some of those people want complete accuracy to cartoon counterparts and some (like myself) who just want to own kick-ass looking bots and count them homaging certain characters as a bonus. I'll admit, the idea of turning Black Arachnia into a motorcycle seems a bit odd at first... but visually, it actually works & looks awesome in my opinion. Some may think it's "dumb" and won't buy it... but it's clear a lot of people think the opposite. Perfect Effect has the freedom to make whatever they want, and we as fans, have the freedom to purchase it or not and life goes on...

Actually kinda diggin' that base too... the other 2 didn't come with that, did they?

@Rated X

Not sure how you think sometimes, man. Tarantulus as a Transmetal had a motorcycle mode so, with that in mind this is -hardly- a stretch. It's basically a Transmetal without the beast mode (which might be possible, albeit a mistransformed form depending on how things move). When taking 3rd figures like this and comparing it to figures like Air Razor from TFCC... I'm just at a loss for words on how you compare things.

I understand where you guys are coming from. But the idea is just too "left field" for my taste. I have never seen the series where "transmetals" were a part of. I have only watched the regular Beast Wars Seasons 1-3. What it the name of the series so I can check it out ? Im assuming it's a Japanese series with sub-titles. Or was it made in Canada like the original Beast Wars ???

Anyways, I always felt that there are repaints that work and then there are lazy repaints/re-tools. Some are from Hasbro, TFCC, and some are 3rd parties. For me this is one of those lazy repaints. They could have put "dreads" on Delicate Warrior or Valkarie and painted it black and purple. Some people would have loved it and used it as a excuse to broaden their horizon on mixing continuities. Not me. I snubbed the pink version of Motobot and bought the blue Version. She sits on my classics shelf proudly as Chromia who actually was a motorcycle in the toy line. I totally disregard the fact that it was supposed to homage TF Prime Arcee. I guess you cant take the G1 out of me.

A Beast Wars homage instead of a G1 homage? Yeah, that's suuuuure out of left field ...

I don't see how this is a lazy repaint at all. It has new "spider legs" accessories and lots of remolding to make it closer to Black Arachnia and differentiate it from the already stylized Arcee. Sure, it doesn't transform into a spider, but what of that? Not everything needs to be a 1:1 translation.

Edit:

THIS is where they're going witht his mold. The "dreds" look to be movable on the prototype.

If you've seen seasons 1-3, which is the entire Beast Wars series, then you've definitely seen a lot of Transmetals action. In fact, I would even wager you've seen Transmetals II. Behold, crappy Transmetals Tarantulas bike mode:

Where's the Stretch?

The Beast Wars Characters had Cybertronian forms before they got stranded on Earth - it may as well have been this shape as any other for BA. Arcee wasn't a bike until well after G1, but Motobot was and is one of the best 3RD party toys I have.

I already have the first 2 and I think this looks like a very interesting redo.....so I'm in.

More? Bring 'Em.

... #-o

so, you're saying that you never saw any Transmetals in the Beast Wars cartoon? I'm assuming that when you say you "watched" them, you mean you bought the DVDs and put them on a table to see if they'd magically do something all by themselves?

Oh, and Chromia wasn't a motorcycle in the original toyline. Or anything else, for that matter. She was a cartoon only character for quite some time.

Maybe we can't take the G1 out of you, but we could certainly take something else out of you if you keep posting uninformed opinions like these as fact.

For what it's worth, from these pics, I'm actually a little let down by this. I'd thought the idea was a good one, but I'll have to see coloured pictures before I sign up. Still haven't gotten my hands on either flavour of the first Motobot yet, but looks good.

I remember Tarantulas becoming a Transmetal, along with Cheetor, Megatron Dinobot, and Rat-trap. But I dont remember the spider ever having wheels in the cartoon. I do remember Rat-trap having wheels. I hated it...

But not every character became a Transmetal in seasons 1-3. Was "Transmetals" a post cartoon toy-line ??? Or did it have it's own show ???

Nope! Turantulas turned into a motorcycle a few times.

The only set I own the originals and have watched more than once is the G1 set by Rhino. All others are AVI Downloads that were watched back in 2010.

Oh yes... she will be mine. Wasn't interested in the other 2 enough to spend what, 100 freakin' dollars for a DELUXE!!?... but this, THIS is cool and I may deny my children some birthday presents to get it... maybe just change their diapers 50% less times for a month?

Those are some sweet lookin' colors on her, the neon flavor makes the figure pop. I'm sure with a few paints apps it'll be brilliant.

Looks like there are two faces. One with a closed mouth, and another opened. Or, the chin is making an illusion of an open mouth.

A blurred image?? Seriously????

Heard a whole lot of nothing from PE in quite some time. Disappointed this is all they have to show for themselves at this time. It's still looking cool though. Interesting name.

Looks like the same face to me.

Such a shame they blurr out the most important pic. I dont think it is exactly a spider mode for the robot. It's a spider mode for the kibble. I need a spider mode with the figure before I buy this mold again.

And why are her lips open ? Is she flirting with Hardbone ???

If you look closely you can tell she has a lower lip. That's a chinstrap.

So far I like it. But with everything else coming out this year this is at the bottom of my list.
