Photography?

So recently, I've had the urge to get into photography. A conveniently timed tax return spurred me to pick up a DSLR and try my hand at it. I picked up a Nikon D90, and a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 last weekend. I'm really interested in shooting 'street photography' but unfortunately I recently moved to a small rural town, and needless to say, there isn't very many interesting subjects to shoot on the streets!

Does anyone else here dabble in photography? Any pros? If there's a few of us, this thread might be a cool place to talk, share photos, critique, etc...

I have a Nikon Coolpix L18. I've taken a photography class back when I was in college and learned alot. Here's a link to two pics I took with it. Need to upload my more recent ones.

They have watermarks as I was trying to sell them. I'll post some more once I get them uploaded. I love doing macros.

I dabble every now and then if the weather's right and I see something interesting. I'm by no means into professionalism or artistry though, I just take a picture of it if it speaks to me. It never hurts to have a camera handy.

A couple of photos then...

Field behind my house. I thought it was looking particularly beautiful on that day, so I took the camera out and snapped it.

Dog VS Hedgehog... Yeah I added lifebars. So sue me. ;p They were just standing there... Staring at each other, neither one moving. It took every bit of strength I had not to dissolve into laughter.

I've always liked Photography, but I've never done it professionally. I tend to be the one taking pictures in family vacations though.

I'm sure there's Fatality just waitign to happen in that picture though. I'd give it to the dog, If I didn't know first hand how agressive hedgehogs can be.

I wasn't worried about the Hedgehog, otherwise I would have shooed Sasha away, but she's ancient, can barely walk, and has no teeth left... The hedgehog wasn't in any danger thankfully. I wouldn't have let her do any harm to the poor litte thing regardless.

I could but I won't. I don't want to spam up Jesterhead's thread with any more of my nonsense. 8-}

Not an expert by any means (I have no damn clue what kind of camera I'm using), but I've been taking photos for a few years now. Mostly at zoos, aquariums, museums and the like.

Each photo almost always takes a few (dozen) tries to get just right, which can be challenging with live subjects (turtles are THE worst), glass enclousures, and crowds of kids. Glad I got a digital camera.

TFW2005 has an inspiring thread on photographing TFs, which I like to participate when I can:

Thanks to essentially being still life, these are far easier to shoot, though often require some Photoshopping.

That's awesome! I wish my high school had a class like that.

You'll need to host your images somewhere before you can post them here. http://www.imageshack.us works well. Then select the direct link to the image and post it here between img tags. Exmple:

Code: Select all
[img]http:\\www.myimage.com[/img]
