Site sponsor Kapow! Toys has reviewed the two remaining figures out of Transformers Generations: Fall of Cybertron Deluxe wave 3, Kickback and Air Raid. Kickback is a brand new mold, while Air Raid is an Autobot reapint/remold of wave 1's Shockwave. Check out the pictorial reviews below:

Now this guy is definitely the star of the show along with Starscream. The only other brand new mold in Wave 3 is one of the Dinobots main foes from the FOC video game. He comes with a massive weapon in the form of an energon crossbow which which shoots the disc via a grey switch on top, the purple blades can be detached to become either handheld blades or part of Kickbacks alt mode.

Articulation is very good, the arms have a lot of swivel and ball joints in them and the legs the same, he has no waist swivel but does have ball jointed ankles allowing a lot of cool stances. The panels on his chest and shoulders can get in the way if I'm honest but its not enough to annoy, his forearms can be slid up or down to form blades and as you can see from the pics he looks really good either way.

Alt mode was looking a but bland from the stock images but once in hand its actually really big and hold together well, he even has a bug shell formed by the arms which I myself wasn't aware of before having it in hand.

Kickback is nice addition to the line, he does look like he belongs in the Prime universe slightly more than the FOC one but thats not a bad thing.

Overall Kickback scores 9/10

Fall of Cybertron Fireflight

The Wave 3 repaint of Shockwave comes with a brand new chest, colours, weapons and head. Having had a name change to Air Raid along the way this guy seems to make a much better usage of the cybertronian ship alt mode than Shockwave did who suffered from complaints he was too small, Air Raid however does not share this fate as there is nothing to measure him against other than than the existing G1 toy which is tiny.

Most of you will know what to expect of the articulation on this guy, it does the job and does it well, only gripe is no waist swivel. Weapon wise he comes with a modification of Shockwaves 3 pronged cannon minus a prong this forms the base of the huge sword if you can be bothered to make it out of all 3 sections, we tried but in total honesty it didn't stay together well and looked kind of pants, they do however all stand on their own very well, the small sword being of particular awesomeness. You can mount the gun on Air Raids arms with the fist introverted or simply in his hand, the swords can be hand held only. Both the gun and large sword can be stored on Air Raids back.

Overall this is a good use of an existing mold, the weapons, head and chest have changed it enough to warrant a purchase for hardcore fans or those who do not own Shockwave, we score Air Raid - 8/10

Technically, Kickback is in the Prime universe. Prime and FoC are part of the same continuity family.

But I get it. His design is slightly more Prime-esque than FoC.

Is there a better rear foot for Kickback's bug mode? Standing on the bot mode's heels like that just looks terrible.

nice. these two were the ones I was really worried about when I preordered the whole wave. Kickback looks interesting, and Air Raid will be my Classics Wing Saber.

I don't have Shockwave yet, an I'd still like him, but if I can't get him for a reasonable price I'll wait for a big sale and grab whichever version of the mold I see first. Firefight was always one of my favorite toys as a kid, so he'd certainly have a place next to his granddaddy.

Hmm. I think Kickback's going to become my PRID Insecticon. He's as close as we're going to get, and as it was said in the review, he seems to fit Prime just a bit better than FOC.

That mold works really well for Sideswipe., better than it did for Jazz, and Jazz is a pretty good figure already.
Magnus looks ver cool, and that sword just completes the otherwise lackluster Prime mold.

Starscream is just O.K.

The insecticon is a must.

And somehow Fireflight makes that mold his own. Shockwave was a little disappointing, but Firelight just works.

The Kickback looks decent enough but as for Air Raid. Really? A Shockwave repaint? Notice in the game he was not a repaint of Shockwave. Kudos to Hasbro for cutting corners and skimping on product. It doesn't even really look that good for Shockwave to be honest. Hasbro is shooting themselves in the foot with crap like that and really need to step up their game if they want to compete with 3rd party manufacturers who actually make a better product.

I haven't seen season 2 of Prime but Kickback is definitely not in season 1

The insecticons show up in season 2. However the only named one is Hardshell. The rest are just his army of Insecticons. like the vehicons

But Kickback is in the FOC game prominently, you fight him as Grimlock.

So not sure why this would be a Prime figure.

He's not the same Air Raid as the one from the video games. His on-package toy bio gives him an entirely different personality as WFC Air Raid. Same name, different character.

You misunderstood me. Kickback isn't in Prime at all. I never said that. What I said was that Prime and FoC are part of the same universe. So, Kickback is in the Prime universe. He's not in the Prime cartoon.

I guess if Kickback is actually in the game I'll display him with the WFC/FoC figs. Bur he does look very Prime-like in aesthetic.

Air Raid is pretty awesome. The alt mode looks too much like Shockwave, but otherwise he's great. Maybe I can work out some sort of fan-mode that's a little more plane-like. Very badass with the weapons. I might give his small sword to another figure, but it depends.

EDIT- Picture with Air Raid colors/weapons:

Type 1:

Type 2 (My favorite):

Kapow have just sent me my Magnus so they are obviously about to hit......glad I didn't bother to pre-order Air Raid cos that looks as lazy and pointless as I thought when I heard Has were just going to repaint Shockwave. Sideswipe should be on the way to me too.

I like Magnus much better than Op....I just wish his chin wasn't so pointy and they had made both characters the Voyagers they should have been.

okay. He has the same name as an Aerialbot, but I don't see Air Raid as being one. Takara's Air Raid is so different in colourscheme that he too looks like a completely different character.
I like this turn of events.

It as supposed to be Fireflight, but the name was changed at the last minute. His bio also resembles that of G1 Fireflight.

To me Sideswipe looks a bit top-heavy. Thats way I also saw Animated Hot Rod, too beefy on top and weak looking in the legs. You know who had it worst of all was Energon OP, just horrible IMHO. There is no question that UM looks brilliant and the Hasbro version looks perfect with no need for Takara's. I am stuck on choosing which SS to get. The aesthetics over all look good and this from someone who has never played the games, don't need it to see what's good and what ain't...'nuff said! :VEHI:

Honestly, I think that makes it worse. And to be quite honest, I was kinda looking forward to having an FoC Air Raid figure. A real one... Not this joke.

That was a little extra harsh... But still...

It was supposed to be Fireflight, especially given his very "Fireflight-y" bio, but it was changed at the last minute probably due to some issue with them being unable to use that name.

If it is a different character then market him as such. Don't put him on a Fall of Cybertron card if it is not the same character. That is just an insult to the Fans' intelligence.
