Potential Takara Tomy Masterpiece MP-10/Neon Genesis Evangelion Crossover Repaint - Updated

Planet Iacon fanpage on Facebook, we get a look at an interesting piece of artwork found in a hobby magazine, featuring Takara Masterpiece MP-10 Optimus Prime in new colours, vaguely reminiscent of the Shattered Glass deco. But no, they are in fact the colour scheme of extremely popular (in Japan and elsewhere) anime franchise Neon Genesis Evangelion based EVA Unit-01, shown in the background of the piece. Take a look at the mirrored image below, and a translation of the text, courtesy of

The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can't even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy.
With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city...but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They've come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading.
"We can't let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet."
"What?! What are these monsters?!"
The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves.

That was [not] an Evangelion joke.
(This actually looks pretty cool. Like Toxitron and he spliced CNA to make this. Kinda reminds me of that Titanfall April Fools joke)

I'm into it! Evangelion is an INCREDIBLE series(even if it really makes no sense whatsoever a lot of the time). But as a fan of both franchises I think this is too cool to pass up!
So long as Micahel Bay is not let anywhere near this project...

It seems ANN is a bit confused on a few things, such as not knowing that "Convoy" and "Sky Lynx" are the names of characters rather than a team or a ship name.

faint possibility since, oh, the summer of '98...
...and if you apply a religious subtext to Rodimus Prime's final line from
5 Faces of Darkness, it could almost be the the tagline for Evangelion:
"We Transformers have looked into the face of our creators...and seen the face of an enemy."

While I have no previous experience with NGE, my understanding that it is a Christian allegory anime that is wildly popular amongst fans, seems to be a really interesting crossover of universes.
Add to the fact that OPrime has died and been resurrected multiple times, provides for several cross continuity points that could be very intriguing.

Though it has plenty of religious symbolism, to call it an "allegory" would be far from accurate. It merely takes elements and references from assorted religions to create its own unique mythos and with the intention of making the series more "exotic and unique", rather maintain the original meanings behind the references it alludes to.
The Chronicles of Narnia would be a better example of a Christian allegory, whereas Neon Genesis Evangelion is something else entirely and very likely wouldn't be approved of by members of some of more conservative religious groups.

I really like evangelion, but not as much as the secret of blue water/nautilus story also made by Anno.
I never thought this day would come, or would I ever think Anno would want to work with transformers which is probably childish to him…
