PRiD Voyager Ultra Magnus

I got UM earlier last week and while I absolutely live him, I've noticed a few issues as well. His arms are connected to his torso by ball joints. The pegs they are on are very skinny and loose. UM's arms will stay in the poses I put him in but he cannot hold his weapon at all! When I place the hammer in his hand, the weight brings his arm down to where it looks like he is dragging it. The ball joints simply cannot support the weight. I have managed to have him hold it as a gun when the other arm supports it.

Does anyone else's UM have this issue? Does mine just have loose/weak joints? Is there anyway to remedy this?

Also, his plastic does feel rather weak. I really love this guy but don't want to break him. Has anybody noticed this on theirs?

I don't own the figure myself but from what I've heard the floppy arm issue is endemic. People are resorting to nail varnish and even superglue to fix it (can't recommend trying this unless you know what you're doing).

You can also tighten a balljoint by putting in a tiny bit of paper or thin cardboard inside the cup of the balljoint and then putting the ball back in. It tightens it up nicely without having to resort to putting any paint or glue on the figure. You can also use a small bit of tape (scotch tape is best since it's clear).

Go with future floors. You literally can't screw up with it; worst case scenario, just work the joint until it loosens again. FF is hardly a permanent fix, but it's good.

Wow this is pathetic, shame on you HasTak for allowing a recognized TF like UM be flawed like this! So are we to expect that within the entire process from concept designs to final product, QC issues like this go unnoticed or is it a simple case of "well good enough" and just pass it along to distribution... :???: . I have a feeling that the Arms Micron version will be no better. The worst part is like most I will still get him knowing how sh*tty the on-line reviews were and posts made here.

Yeah I know it can be fixed but big or small inconvenience is still inconvenience, thanks HasTak. :BANG_HEAD: :VEHI:

I too used clear nail polish to fix this. If you do it, just save yourself the time and do two layers before you stick the arms back on. Trust me, he'll need it.

The loose ball joints don't bother me so much, as I'm kinda used to them. It's his GOD-AWFUL MechTech weapon that bothers the hell outta me. It makes neither a convincing hammer or rifle. Instead it just looks like poop.

mine's also really loose in the joints. and he also came out of the box missing one of his leg wheels
i'm really on the fence about him. qc-wise he's bad, he looks dull and his transformation is just plain simple and boring

Excluding the bad paint and the loose ball joints, I think he's a fabulous figure. Love him so much, I'll get a 2nd one. Here are some of pics which I also posted at other boards:

"And it's going, going.....HOMERUN!"

G1 UM Rocket Launcher - Not recommended, I got stress mark for doing it.

Pulling the hammer which was anchored to his back:

Bang, you're dead:

Somehow, I love his stock photo with the wheels at the side of his leg to match Cyberverse and O.Prime better then the corrected way:

Thelast pose there is pure bad ass-dom

I really liked his cyberverse Hammer, would the 3rd party hammer for city commander work with him you think?

On a Ultra Magnus note, the FoC Magnus, if anyone is looking a hammer for him the Cyberverse one while a little small works well with him.

I just put some nail polish on his ball joints. This is definitely one of the stronger Prime figures. Not the best, but definitely a good one.
