Primus as cybertron

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Postby Transtopias Rodimus Prime » Thu Aug 10, 2006 10:36 pm

It's not just the body of a robot. It is the God of the Transformers Primus. Maybe you knew this already. That's all I know, so somebody will you please fill us in?

The concept of Cybertyron being the body for the creator god of the transformers, Primus, was first introduced in the Marvel TF comics. The whole Quintesson story was only in the cartoon, and not indicitive of the comics at all. They never even make an appearance except in the comic adaptions of the movie. Also, considering that the cartoon ignored many of the things established in the characters bios on their individual toys, marks it as dubious as far as its representation of the ?true? TF history. For one thing, according to their toy bios, the dinobots wwre all from Cybertron, and all had Cybertroninan forms; they weren?t built by Wheeljack on Earth. the Dreamwave comics picked up on this and focused more on the toy history than the cartoon. they actually managed to take the best aspects from the entire TF mythos rather than looking at the cartoon, which had too many holes in it by itself.

Thanks for the history lesson. Maybe you should hitch a ride to botcon with the transtopians crew. They need someone who really knows TF mythos. Speaking of Quintessons. What the heck happened with Energon Alpha Quintesson? It only has 3 heads. Alpha Triesson?

IF I could afford it I would. But, since I am the epytomy of the ?Starving Artist? (I?m a freelance illustrator and graphic designer with too few clients as of yet), that is pretty much out of the question.

Yeah I can't go either. I'm one step further than starving artist. I have to work 50-60 hrs a week to even afford a new Transformer to repaint. Botcon 2007 could be my first. It will be a mad house after the movie.
I finally had the dough to get Primus. It made me very happy since I never got and still don't have any version of Fort Max. Both are a must have in my opinion

Actually if I remember correctly in the comics it wasn't so much that Cybertron was the body of Primus, more that Primus lived at its core. In the comic he's a being of energy with no physical form, and the closest to a physical form we ever saw was his astral form which looked a bit like a golden Rodimus Prime.

He shows up again as an energy being in Energon, and then as the Transformer god in Cybertron with the planet being his body.

Nope, in the original G1 comics, Primus and Unicron were primordial gods, battling across the multiverse. In a last ditch attempt to defeat Unicron, Primus tricked him by leading him into one of two planetoids, imprisoning himself in the other. In time, he learned to manipulate his new ?body? but could not transform. Instead, he remade his ?body? into the planet Cybertron, and he created the transformers distilling a piece of his spirit?his very essence?to make the Matrix. Meanwhile, Unicron learned to transform his own new body into a copy of his original form, allowing him to transform from planet mode to a colossal robot. However, in both cases, the planets became the bodies of each god. In fact, in the issue titled Primal Scream we actually see the physical face of Primus in the core of Cybertron.

Exactly, that is why I never look to the cartoons for continuity, I look to the comics, mainly the DW comics.

I hated the DW comics. I'm somewhat glad they're gone now, though I hate that Pat Lee had to make the parting so miserable.

DW did die, but the continuity they set up was the most cohesive and accurate to the toys, and over-all mythos. It had drawn on everything that had come before, taking the best parts and uniting them into a solid, cohesive whole. Even the Del-Rey book, the Ultimate Visual Guide to Transformers said that it was the definitive G1 continuity. Personally, I wish they were still publishing Transformers. Some of the stuff IDW did I find apalling; particularly what they did with Bumblebee. Other things I like, but I definately preferred DW?s take. I really hope that the whole Bankruptcy is taken care of soon, so that the stories DW left unfinished can be published by IDW. Until the Bankruptcy is dealt with, those stories remain in limbo. But that is neither here nor there and really has nothing to do with Primus.

Yeah, i wish DW was still at it too. IDW is O.K. but DW had the real stuff going on. More stories that had to do with the Transformers themselvs and their history. I just don't like all the humans being the big focal point of the stories at IDW. Stormbringer seems to be off to a good start, but the coloring is totally awful, it looks like they color these books with those crappy map color pencils we used to use in school. DW's coloring was definately state-of-the-art, and the word balloons with each character's individual colors was a kick ass idea, also all the scenes looking through the robot optics were awesome.

DW always seemed like a more advance version of the G1 cartoons, more indepth stories, way better art, sort of like the show grew up with the fans. You really couldn't ask for anything better. And man, i want them to finish the G1 story line, i need to see what is going to happen when Unicron rolls up.
