prjkt's Money Pit

Well, new year, new room for my Transformers (had to give up my study to my new little one’s nursery) and a new display case.

Picked up this cabinet over the weekend, along with a couple of packs of colour LED light strips and after a several hours of rearranging furniture, baby sitting my parents’ dog, building the display cabinet, taking care of mini-prjkt, soldering/heatshrinking cables and arranging Transformers, this is the result:

Image

The smaller but taller cabinet was from my work, big boss wanted it gone, so I acquired it. Will light this up with the same strips eventually, but have to save money for that first.

Some closer up photos

MP Shelf (quickest growing part of my collection atm, also have Hot Rod, Ironside and Ultra Magnus in my PoL/Private Warehouse, with Ratchet also on the way)
Image

“Exclusives” shelf (SDCC/Club/eHobby etc figures I can’t fit in my main collection.)
Image

Neo-G2/Post G1 shelf (This may change in arrangement when the G2 CW box sets arrive)
Image

FOC/WFC Shelf (yeah, near the floor, pretty dark, does need lighting, however this was my first area of collecting, so keeping for nostalgic reasons)
Image

Moving on to the new cabinet

Top shelf (Big guys)
Image

Classics-verse Autobots (it’s crowded)
Image

Classics-verse Decepticons (still a little crowded)
Image

Classics-verse extras (those that don’t fit on the above shelves - spare space for future figures/rearrangement, i.e. Titans Return figures)
Image

Prime & Movieverse figures (bit of room here, also has the grand total of two RiD-verse figures I have)
Image

And if anyone’s interested, here’s a gallery of photos of some of the different coloured light.

Big fan of the games as well so I mainly I collect just the figures based of that from the Generations line. But still have a few others.
Do you also have limited shelf space? they look cool clumped together but I think sometimes it takes away from an indiviual character.

Wow, some very nice shiny metallic stuff out there, and all in such a compact space.
Nice job! :D

Yeah not much room - 2 bedroom rental and that's just one side of a multi-purpose room. Barely had enough roo to set up the lighting stands to take those shots. I also like the fact that they look like an army. A force to be reckoned with.

I guess I could have used the top shelf of my computer desk (where I shot the pics for my http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/takara-exclusive-infiltrator-starscream-review-t99676.php]Infiltrator Starscream Review, but the slightest knock on anywhere on the desk would cause figures to take a tumble.

I do "rotate" each character around, so everyone gets their turn at the front (except voyagers and larger, they're easy enough to see regardless)

Thanks. Yeah I'm a sucker for a shiny paint job.

Managed to find a Henkei Lambor for a decent price, so should have Sideswipe in position sometime next week.

On a scale on one to awesome, this is at least mega wicked.

Seriously, your Classics shelf makes me all kinds of jelly.

How have you managed to collect so many toys. I hope you have more space in case of any more additions. The collection looks like military troops.

Unfortunately in Aus, very few of these actually reached our shores, so most of this has been online purchasing, with the exception of FOC Soundwave, minions, Shockwave and Optimus.
The platinum AOE Prime/Grimlock set was also a store purchase, along with Metroplex.

Everything else has been online. Mostly BBTS and Robot Kingdom, and HLJ for much of the Takara Generations line that I have. Managed to grab a few restocks or "warehouse finds" to grab some older characters like United Bee, Jazz and Blurr.

I've been lucky with some of the recent special editions re-releasing the older character molds, but I've had to resort to eBay for some (ie Prowl and Bluestreak, and I just purchased Universe Smokescreen last night from the 'bay). However, due to the often high price, I don't really buy from there very often.

There aren't many older characters that I'm still looking for, but have quite a few on pre-order/in my POL on BBTS, including all upcoming generations deluxes (Windblade, Crosscut, Nightbeat, Jhiaxus, Arcee, Chromia), voyagers (Rhinox, Skybyte, Roadbuster), a few legends (Cosmos, Gears, Skrapnel, Acid Storm and another Tailgate - last two only because the single pre orders of their wave mates were sold out), leader Jetfire, TFCC Chromedome and the new release of Hexatron and big ass swords for him.

Many of those are due this month, so there's going to be some re-arrangement I think... There's still some room on the 'con side at the back, bits and pieces on the 'bot, and I'll move Metroplex (and maybe Green Giant/Devastator) to the small table to the right of the shelf, giving plenty of room for the incoming voyagers. I might have to take Wreck-gar's ride away and move Junkheap to a lower shelf.

Next year's challenge will be finding space for the incoming combiners...

EDIT: Also have some reprolabels sets in my cart awaiting purchase... Tailgate Rhinox, Whirl, Smokescreen, G3 Trailer...

Got bored on a day off, and started reorganising things a little in lieu of a pending shipment from BBTS.

Then I did this (sorry for the slightly dark image, too lazy to set up lighting)

Image

All my classics-verse Autobots that are pretty much in the same scale (Whirl and Warpath might be a tiny bit small, but the scout/legends cars definitely don't fit)

As you can see, couple of new additions - most obviously is the new Leader class Jetfire (very nice) and Universe 2.0 Inferno

That is quite an impressive collection! Looks like you have your legions all lined and ready for orders.

How long have you been collecting to reach this point?

As for a challenger to Devastator...

There are the 3rd party dinobot combiners (If you are into that sort of thing).

Or the 3rd party Superion combiners they look pretty sharp, haven't seen any review of them to date...

Been collecting since the tail end of 2012, so not all that long a time, I've just been focused.

And here's another, more recent shot from last night. Going to need more shelf space soon - I've had to move my "big guys" off to the side table (Metroplex, Green Giant, CW Superion, Hexatron etc)

Yeah there's a few. Still room for a few more yet.

I do have a drawer full of "doubles" not on display too...

Congrats on the mini-prjkt.

double thank you there. Has definitely been keeping me busy on both fronts.

I need to update the pics too - have lit up the second cabinet now, added a few MPs, combiners and exclusive figures I've collected in the past month and a bit.

Have also used the excess lighting to light up my desk, so now when I'm applying reprolabels/stickers or soldering I don't have my big fat head casting a shadow on my work.
