Remember how the tubes where glowing red hot with news about the upcoming Alien prequel by Ridley Scott? Remember how it all died down and was almost forgotten when Ridley Scott stated that the project went completely of course and developed into something different and that it's no-longer a prequel?
Yea whell, turns out that it is a prequel after all, just watch the newish trailer.

=P~

That looks awesome! :D
Still, I wonder why every single trailer in hollywood has that sound in it now. That re-accuring sound, I think I heard it (or noticed it) First in the inception trailer song, mindheist, that sound that's like a big mechanical horn that goes off every two and a half seconds? Do they have a name for it so I can avoid these long explanations?
Anyway, it looks great.

See, I've watched that trailer numerous times over the last few days and I'm yet to see how it will work as an Alien prequel.

IF it is it's going to be VERY loosely tied. I think he's just thrown in a few nods here and there.

Back when the prequel was announced the description for it was that it will tell the story of the ship from Alien that had the eggs and how the crew fell victim to the xenomorphs.
And if you look at the trailer you'll see the following:
She ship
She "Space jokey" cannon
A room that looks a heck of a lot like the egg chamber
And the creepy "spine" tunnel
And the ship crashing with the two "horns" taking the positions they had in Alien

Like I said, LOOSELY tied.

The egg chamber? The "eggs" look far too smooth and clean. If anything he might just be adding a few nods and leaving it up to people whether they want to accept it as a prequel or not.

The trailer still looks pretty close to the originally announced prequel, who said a prequel has to be the exact same as the thing that follows? Prequels are there to lead into the main story, which automatically makes them loose.

Yea the eggs are weird, it does look like something comes out of them though. Maybe these are prototypes and the xenomorphs kinda evolved from that, after all it's been hinted at that they are a synthetic organism.

Buuuuut we'll learn soon enough. So all we really can do is >:oP

Someone who thinks reissues are KO's, lol

But yeah, I should probably go watch the Alien quartet, always bits and pieces but never an entire movie.

The "space jockey" clip seals the deal. There would be no reason for this set to be included in the movie, unless it is a direct prequel to Alien.

Aren't Aliens "kissing" since Requiem?

On: The trailer reminds me of an ooooold Anime, Dallos:

Is it considered a prequel if there's no xenomorphs?

You should, if you've got a way of watching BlueRays, go and get yourself the Alien Anthology, it's worth it for the first two films alone, Alien looks absolutely stunning in HD =P~ .
If you do, watch the director's cuts that are included, except for the one supplied for Alien, even Scott doesn't like that version and prefers the original cut.

Yes.

But, luckily there's a xenomorph skull on a medical table to examination at around 0:35 in the trailer. :-B

I haven't seen Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection, and I wasn't impressed by the first 2, but this looks pretty cool, prequel or not. Will be seeing it.

Eh...I'm not so sure about that. Looks more like a Chozo skull to me ;) :P :

But in all seriousness, I'm not really expecting the Xenomorphs to appear in the film. Yes it is a prequal, of that I have no doubt because I can clearly see some of the same archetecture that was present in the original Alien film. Therefore, it takes place in the same Universe, but not necessarily in the same storyline. I highly doubt it will shed too many new insights into the Weyland corperation or where Xenomorphs came from, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, truth be told I'm really, really interested in seeing it because it does loosely tie into the Alien mythos. If it didn't I'd probably pass.

The original I could kind of understand not liking too much. It's good, but a little slow, and not overly bloody(barring one scene), effects heavy or funny, but Aliens? That film is great on so many levels, but I guess it's great in an "action movie" kind of way, and that may not be your style.

As for Alien 3 and Resurection, if you didn't like the first two, you probably wouldn't like them.

Alien 3 goes back to the horror movie/slasher roots, but the story is just weird and not overly exciting throughout, plus it's dirty and kinda ugly to look at. It's not bad per say, but an almost total 180 from Aliens, and a couple storyline choices could tick off fans.

Alien: Resurection is....a forgettable sequal? It's not horrible(I like it a little more than 3), but it is so not up to par with the first two. It has some new ideas and tries to run with them, but they really don't succeed. It at least tries to continue the mythos though.

Finally, a quick word on the Alien vs. Predator movies: First one has a decent story but was cursed with a PG-13 rating and some lackluster action. Second one has better action, but half the time you can't see it and the story/characters play out like a cheap slaher flick...I guess(I'm not a slasher fan at all).

Honestly, I'm not a big Jim Cameron fan. I liked the Terminator movies, but that's it. I actually stopped watching Aliens halfway through because it bored me.

Yeah, also not interested in the 3rd, but I was always curious about Resurrection, it just seemed to be an update of the originals, even if it was a sequel. Might get it on Netflix or something...

Yeah, I liked the first film, the second one was forgettable. But I'm more of a Predator fan anyway, so that's why I saw them.

I do like Ridley Scott's stuff (except Man on Fire, that was a piece of ****) so I am looking forward to Prometheus, whether it's a prequel or not.

Resurrection was an attempt to recreate the success of Aliens by taking things back into space but replacing Marines with mercenaries.

It was a definite improvement over Alien 3 (which in it's self was probably an attempt to recreate Alien by setting it in a restricted environment) but still failed.

Due to being rewritten like every two weeks till it hit theatres.

Aliens Resurrection is a weird film though, it's a heck of a lot like French comics. Dark, brutal, disgusting, erotic (kinda) but still light-hearted and wacky at times. It's even more French when you watch the directors cut that restores the original opening and ending.

You guys gotta stop the trailer a few times and look at the stills, you can see one of the space jockeys in it. It stands behind the "S" in the space jockey cannon reveal scene. It looks like one pissed off dude.

Also, the skull they have on the medical table is a space jockey skull.

Oh my god, I've turned into one of those freaks who over-obsess over a freaking trailer. 8-}

Yea, it's just the name they gave the set during filming of Alien, so far it's the only name that thing has, I hope they give it a better name in the movie though.

No...No you don't.

I'm with Burn in that this doesn't really feel like a sequel without the "Aliens". Thats the main attaction of these movies.Don't get me wrong, the movie does look good, but as a sc-fi movie and not an alien movie' Yes, i see the tie ins, but for me that just isn't enough without including the character that these movies are based around.
I'll still give it a chance as it doesn't look cool. Just doesn't feel "Alien" to me.
