PS3 Can Cure Cancer!

Normally I don't watch FOX News, or any other bullshit...I mean news channel, but when I flicked on the tube this morning that was the last thing the drones were watching. So anyways, the story that was on at the time caught my eye. It was about if PS3 owners register their consoles with Stanford, they can use the PS3 processing power to perform complex calculations while you play Resistance, or Motorstorm, or whatever. Blahbada blah blah...the PS3 could cure cancer! Like a person could fly if they flapped their arms fast enough. Now if that doesn't make you run out and buy a PS3 nothing will. Hey, you don't want to be the prick that didn't cure cancer b/c he's too cheap to buy a $600 game machine that has almost 0 good exclusive games. So when your getting T-bagged b/c your game is lagging from the super calculator in the background, remember you're curing cancer. And that guy will hopefully get testicular cancer. It's great to see the corporations working together.

Man, I should really stop watching Pen and Teller.

Another attempt sony has of trying to apply real-life computer process to their hardware. With the PS2, it was supposedly illegal in some countries because it could be used as a missle guidance system.

To put it plain & simple....complicated computations can be done on it. Great, wonderful.....but any computer with the same or equal processing power could do it. Hell, the 360 can probably do the same damn thing & would be easier to program to do so, too. Or even better....how about a PC built with the twice the specs of a PS3....shouldn't cost more than $2000....that's a drop in the bucket for medical equipment prices.

So in summary, whoop-de-sh*t.

....besides. a PS3 can't cure cancer if it's still collecting dust at Wal-Mart while everybody's buying up all the 360s & Wiis. :-?

The PS3 is an extremely expensive, and I doubt anybody who actually bought one is not willing to let some moron use it as a calculator. These guys have no idea what they're talking about.

I also sigquoted you, UltraPrimal!

Exactly, I have one, and I'm not about to enable something that's essentially spyware. Harvard or not, it's still connecting my PS3 to God knows where.

Not...happnin'.
