Oh Burn. I know you have been around for 7 years and everything I do is old and you have seen before, but using the same old contrived sayings time and time again is just as shiftless as can be expected. Alas my parkour class ran late so I missed a chance at free XP, but please keep offering your cons up to me. I don't pass down any chances to advance. Thank you.

Oh and I know you probably have already heard this already and this is already been tried, but I plan to break you from using your same humdrum saying. So to do this to help you. Every time you say something is boring you owe me 1000 energon. Every time you say blah, you owe me 200 energon per blah. Now I know you can't give me energon, so what we can do is have you donate it to a con of my choosing. What do you say?

**Edit: Just in case you didn't realize I am joking with you and hope you understand this is just playful banter. If I cross the line now or in the future just let me know. I don't mind having an adversary but I am not looking to be a jerk or disrespectful to anyone.

Come on Burn, at least the guy's trying. It's not his fault this community lost the critical mass it needed for anything to actually work.

_Anshin_, I didn't want to mention it at the time, because I was hoping you'd succeed, but if you check the HMW Tournaments forum you'll see the last attempt to run anything was my own, and the complete apathy on all parts (including mine I must admit) killed it dead before it really started.

As for your current attempt, I'd have taken part, but you catch me at a time when I have other projects that I want to complete, so I don't have the time to do anything other than casually fling cons in right now.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Redimus. I noticed that after I had gone through a week of my own contest. I honestly think I tried to go too big on the contest. If I had started off with something simple then I probably would have gotten more bites and more success. After it ends this Saturday I will start another one. I plan to keep trying until we have at least one successful one.

No, I don't think it's that.
Hell, I think the most popular ones myself and JP did were the ones that were a bit more complex and different to the norm.

It's all down to encouraging people to actually bother. If you can do that, you've already won, but I'm buggered if I know how. Maybe get one of the mods to pose a news article on the site?

We've newsed them in the past, dunno about the others but my "policy" for newsing them is if they're big, complete with storyline and all that.

I did news a Autobot only one in the past and that was to try to get the Autobots forum going but you can see the result of that.

If you can put something together then we'll tread on some toes and news it. Though the downside to this is we'll be shattering Red's belief that us Mods are not, nor will ever be, useful. :P

Can't talkmuch as I'm supposed to be working but thetournament system here needs a despirate overhaul, but a thought ihadwas based in collecting - were all toy collectors so my suggestion is this:

A player sees an alt they want on the opposing team and if they want it they have the chance to earn it, all they need to do is kill an opponent with that alt 12 times andpost it here, with the name of the TF they want to have it. The mods who can will do the rest.
Doesn't require participation from the opponent and doesn't have a time limit, perfect for the current state of the game.

Thoughts?

Well, I am not much of a toy collector but I am actually liking this idea. I know that one of my characters ended up with a bad build for two months only because I didn't want to reformat him and lose his alt mode. The only issue I see is the alt mode selections. About 90% of them don't jive with me. I actually started writing my back story for my characters and stopped after about 3 characters because the characters didn't match their end game alt modes. For example, Nyteshade is a female bot for me (in my twisted mind). Her alt mode matches her vanity and speed (Light vehicle - Attack Cycle) at the low level games, however keeping her with similar alt modes at high end to make her a strafer / avoid would force me to redo her alt mode to a fighter to keep her vehicle based and have her with a small yet sleek design. While looking over the many, many, many cons that defeat me on a regular basis I typically see the same alt modes and the same builds. I don't know how many of the alt mode characters vary from faction to faction, but I don't know if this would work. I know that doesn't make sense right now, but in my sleep deprived mind it does.

Let me know however which idea works the best for tournaments around here. I took a previous idea and have been running with it, developing a story line and an elaborate system of hunts and trials. My rules are not 100% set into stone and are about as properly defined as a two piece on Bea Arthur. If you want I can pm you tomorrow once I have fleshed it out tomorrow. Personally, I had another thought. Seeing as how BumbleVivesector was the only one to respond back with questions about the last tourney and seemed confused and set off by the rules I was actually thinking of creating two things. A hidden rewards system for one week and an Olympics style event the next. Again, I realize the time difference is an issue, however I wanted to work on the ideas before bringing them up.

For the hidden rewards system I was actually thinking of just posting a single Day tournament each day. The tournament would be based off of something simple and easy for me to post and monitor. For example, the person that I kill the most in battle wins and the person that kills me the most in battle wins. I post all my fight logs the next day and then talk with one of the cons that would help me run this week long event and have him/her mail this un suspecting person a set amount of energon (say 300-500). I then PM the person and explain that they pretty much hit a poor man's lotto and that if they come to the forums and check each day something similar will happen as we are running this event all week.

The following week after I had received enough players that I pm and sent energon rewards to attention I would run a faction tournament again and set it up Olympics style. Each day a faction can enter so many people in to run an event. For example one day might be the tough man style event. The person with the highest single non tactic damage wins but wins as a team. So if we accept 5 bots and 5 cons for that day's events and everyone posts their results, the next day we would tally up all of the damage results and the team with the most damage receives an award with the players receiving individual bonuses on top of that in regards to how much the contributed. The following day we could run it for tactic:avoid and proceed from there.

That way people aren't being forced into redoing their specs and they can participate in the events they feel that they will perform the strongest in. You see I think I went overboard with my original tournament still only because maybe some people may be lurking and read it, but though (No way I can ram 5x in a match... I am out of here).

Either way I am going to try to pass out for 30 minutes more then get ready for work. Let me know if any of this makes sense or sounds do able. I am willing to put the work in if you all think it would effective in any shape or manner.

...wow. Ill get back to to you on that in a day or two. Good ideas but they almost rely too much on players who post.

For now, let's keep it simple.
We have few posters here so need to encourage a few more voices to sustain any tourneys we want to run. To do that we need a simple and basic game with a viable reward, and alts are the only option as xp is out of the question, and hunting is a single person sport so can be done without many players to start.

Anshin, first though, can you do me a favour? Load up your complete alts page, right-click and copy the code for it into a .txt file then email it to me at thesteviloverlord@gmail.com. As a con, I can't see the bot alts so need them sent to me, then I can see if the idea I have will work.

Not a problem. Like I said I have been just mulling over different ideas to try to pick up more interest and conversation. I figured if I started PMing the players and giving a reward incentive for checking the forums then it may be more of a cascade effect than anything.

What, have no real idea about my builds and just level up as fast as I can so I can be an xp generator for the Autobots? No thanks.

Damn. And here I thought the point of being a high ranked player was to level up, have the xp to experiment with builds, and help others level up so they feed xp back to the cons.

Why don't people tell me these things :P

I remember back when we had bounty hunts there was a huntsmen. He would take the energon placed on a bot or con from the bounty poster. Would it stand to reason he could do cross faction payouts? I figure this could be of use in these smaller tournaments.

That makes perfect sense. "Hey remember when or you know what would be great" "Yeah we just need a **********" I use the asteriks cause i heard a interweb legend that if you say that three times in a thread he'll kill the internet.

After all of this time I finally got Sustain!
03:09 Nyteshade hits SolarCat with a Null-Ray Rifle.

The bot that I expected the least out of and never expected to take down Sustain stepped up...
Come Wednesday if my alt form is still there I am still going to rebuild her... but Now I just need Psychout to complete my trophy case.

I hadn't thought about it quite like that. Soon you'll see that some of the other team members can give a good beat down too. You are right though. Sustain and SolarCat both are like that. One more thing.. curse you Autobot for making me think.

Actually con, I have to thank you... the past week of trying to play pin the con's head to the ground has yielded some great data on your side as well as mine. I was about to scrap Nyteshade's alt form even though it is probably one of my favorite alt modes out there. I am interested in seeing how your speed builds work at the end game levels when some tactics negate those builds. For right now though you did help me prove a point that I didn't have the XP to do on my own.

Actually I think we are in need of somebody with a gregarious personality that the troops can rally behind. I was thinking of borrowing my ex's cheerleader outfit, but I think that would just end up scaring everybody instead of inspiring them.
