Questions about Armada Slapper

I just got the Armada Dinobot 2-pack with Triceradon and Slapper. They're cool figures. A couple questions about Slapper, though:

(1) The dino head has a little red switch-like thing in its mouth. What is it for? It doesn't seem to do anything.

(2) Does Slapper have a "third form" like the other Armada Dinobots?

Slapper is a recolor of Beast Wars NEO Bazooka (as are the other Armada Dinobots, they're all BW NEO repaints). I don't believe he has a third mode (weapon mode) like most of the Beast Wars NEO figures did, but I could be wrong on that (I've just never seen it if he does have one).

The switch like thing is for his hand (it's basically his thumb).

Cool, thanks for the info and quick response!

The thumb seems kind of pointless. I think the dino head makes a cool hand without any need for a thumb.

I agree. The head hand really works for this particular figure and he pulls it off much better than a lot of other BW figures did. Still, an extra bit of articulation doesn't hurt I guess :P.

Not all BW Neo Predacons had third "trap" modes, in fact only Guiledart (Triceradon), Saberback (Snarl) and Sling (Sludge) did.

The thing in his mouth is actually the mechanism that opens it, you have to pull forward on the spike on his right cheek.

Finally, Grimlock and Terranotron/Swoop were regular BW molds. ;)

Yep, I think most of the Maximals did, but not all of the Preds did.

Ah, right you are, it opens and closes his mouth, cool :).

True (and the Terranotron/Swoop mold was used for Hydra in NEO and the remold of Grimlock (aka BW Dinobot) was used to create Hardhead (who was later used in the Beast Machines line for Dinotron).

Those BW dino molds got quite a workout through the years and various lines. I have all of them on a shelf (except for Megatron and his repaints who reside elsewhere) dedicated entirely to the various BW dinos. It's quite a sight.

I envy you. I have only the two Universe repaints, Guiledart, reissue Archadis (as Airraptor), Hydra, Hardhead and finally T-Wrecks. Problem is, I already have most of the BW Neo Maximals and VS sets are the only ones out there.

Yep, finding them individually is tough. I was kinda lucky in that. When I decided to start collecting the BWII and BW NEO lines, I resolved to get every single figure (except for the crappy G2 repaints in the BWII line) so for NEO, I got all the VS sets since I needed both the Maximals and Predacons that they included. You can find the individual ones, but they are few and far between and often cost more than just breaking down and buying the Korean issue VS sets (which means in your case that you'll have a lot of spare Maximals hanging around).

True, I may just have to sell off the excess should I break down on the Versus sets.

And the G2 repaints aren't that bad, I find them one of the more creative aspects of BWII. Of them I only miss Starscream and BB, and Autocrusher (G2 Roadblock repaint).

Hehe, Starscream and BB were the only ones I actually bought. I liked the color scheme and combining jet gimmick (it reminded me a lot of the G1 Dreadwind+Darkwing Powermaster combo).

You really should get the rest if you can afford it and you're into good Beasties (which it seems you are). You won't regret it. You can use the spares for customs or just sell them off for cheap on ebay or here on the boards to recoup some of the money you shelled out to complete your collection.

I paid $20 SHIPPED for the Triceradon-Slapper 2-pack, and it was MISB! That was a pretty good deal, no?

That's a good price :) Especially considering a store I know charges €45 ($60  ) for the Bump vs. Bazooka set. They do sell other sets at a more decent price, but still...

Yep, I think Bump vs Bazooka is one of the less produced/harder to find ones. It always seems to be harder to come by and more pricey. I can't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I know it wasn't too cheap.

Ah, I see why now. I checked my release lists and it turns out they're right there at the end with Survive vs. Killer Punch, another set high on my list.

Yeah, that makes sense. It took me FOREVER to find Killer Punch, and when I did, I had to get the VS set (which I don't mind, but that was before I'd decided to get every single figure in the line, so looking back on it, it's a good thing :P).

I did find Killer Punch by himself MISB for a price that you would probably hurt me for on an out of the way site and bought him just to have a spare (I like his bot mode due to the retooled hand and spiky kibble so I wanted one to display in both modes).
