Resident Evil: Which do you prefer?

Do you like the free movement games or the railshooters best. The only railshooter I played was the Links crossbow training. I didn't buy Umbrella or Darkside becuase of the railshooting feature. I like exploring and freedom better. Whats your opinion?

When it comes to Resident Evil I prefer the classic style. On rail shooters are a lot of fun and one of my favorite genres, but survival horror is much more immersive.

I'm not up on the lingo. What's a rail shooter and what's a free-movement game?

A rail shooter is where the character moves along a set path (Like they're on a set of rails), and you only control the weapon(s), and maybe you can adjust the position of the character, but you're still forced along that same path. Star Fox is a good example.

Free-movement would be just what it says, freedom of movement. You can choose where the character moves.

Free movement, all the way. To have a rail game reminds me too much of games like HOTD. Granted, those are cool games, but its not what I like from my Resident Evil.

I'm a big fan of RE: 3, Nemesis. Sure, its old now, it was shorter than 1 & 2 and the sequels, and yeah, Carlos was a g1mp. But the introduction of "replayabilty" was neat, and Chickensh1t Vickers getting his was just fantastic!

I really wish they had remade that. It would have been cool to see Nemesis in the GC styled glory.
Something memorable here.

I prefer RE 4 and 5. I know they did away with the horror aspect, but I still prefer the new ones.

I hoped they were going to do the GC remake treatment to the whole series. That would have been awesome.

It would have been awesome!! Early on after the RE1 was remade there were some rumours that 2 and Nemesis would follow, but instead they said they'd just port it. Of course, GC sort of crashed and burned a bit so I didn't hear much more about it after that.
Something memorable here.
