Not a nod to the 2001 version. A nod to the original with Charlton Heston. He spoke these exact words: "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!"

All other movies after it were influenced by the first film. Nothing homages remakes, sequels or reboots, just the original.

I haven't seen the original. Just the 2001 one.

I haven't watched this movie yet but from reading all these posts i'll just have to check it out now.

Makes me a bit proud to hear these reviews actually. I spent two months building sets for this movie. Lots of back breaking work and long hours.

And it's not just that. The movie was totally predictable. I never saw the originals, so IDK if they have a connection in diologue, but I knew what everyone was going to say before they said it. I knew everything that was going to happen before it happened. At least DOTM had creative diologue. "Raise your hand if you had a psyco ninja copier try to kill you today!" See? Who would have thought of that? I certainly didn't. But in this movie, I knew everything before it happened. That's what made it boring for me. But I did still like it though. It's hard to make me not like a movie.

I thought the only movie you didn't like was WALL-E. ;)

Exactly. That movie teased me. It showed images of robots, and there was only about 1 (small)explosion the entire movie. Even the story was ass. There's no way in hell abandoning earth will be a bad thing! Plus the only time I laughed the entire movie was when all those fat people where rolling down the side of the ship. My family and I feel asleep watching that movie in theaters. I wasted my 13th birthday on that crap. At least that's the day I got Animated Voyager Optimus.

Do you go to a movie on every birthday?

No. That time, there wasn't much I wanted besides a few TF Animated figs. ANd I went to see DOTM for my birhtday this year because...it was freaking Transformers on my birthday. I did the same with ROTF too though. I saw it opening night, then again for my birthday.

Finally saw this a couple of days ago and it's awesome. I'm a huge fan of the original series, especially Escape and Conquest, not so much the Burton version, and was very pleased that Rise managed to do it's own thing and give the new continuity a great launch platform while paying it's dues to the original movies. I'm really looking forward to as many sequels as they can throw at us.

Its a very good movie I think. Many cool nods to the Original Charlton Heston version.

In case you haven't seen it, I recommend watching it. Its one of the more awesome Sci-Fi flicks of its time. Great Ending too.

And it will let you in on what this movie is heading towards. I'm sure we'll get a couple sequels for this, before they come back to another remake of the Original.

Not that the Tim Burton Remake was all that bad it was just missing the punch of the original.

The original sequels weren't all that great either though they were pretty entertaining.
