It's been a really long while since I made a full custom Frankenstein type bot. So I made something for my combiner obsessed friend.

I'll introduce the members of the team, from least customised to WTF-I-AM-LOOKING-AT.

First, HA Backfire from DOTM, regular version. He's the "targetmaster" of the combiner.




Where's the customising you ask? Right there. That licence plate. It count, right?



Next is Wreck-Garr. It's not a Junkion team if he's not there. You'll also guess that the other 3 limbs bots will be the same toy, but changed into different charaters.
Obviously, the customisation here are the simple Reprolabels stickers. Nothing too personal here, but the result do look great.






Next is Trashcannon. An original character that Toyhax have created. Simply by making a unique Reprolabels stickers set. The trick is to turn the head around and make the head into a new one using specialised stickers. I added an extra sticker for the original face that is now the back of the head to hide it. That's the only trus customisation here. I really love that character and the fact that his mele weapon and bike kick-stand have turned into guns.






Next is another Toyhax original character, Rubbish. With a light mod, they turned the bike into a "tricycle" and they don't transform his leg fully to make a short bot. But I don't like that at all so he's "customised" by removing those features. However, turning the combiner peg into a head by giving it a face with stickers is a genius move so I kept that aspect. I only added another sticker to hide the face of the original head. Then I added some more leftover stickers to complete his look.

I had a spare RiD Windblade sword on hand so I traded his pinwheel weapon for that. With a dab of spraypaint, that sword is now truly his. I love the fact that the sword is stored into a scabbard that can become a gun if held differently.






Now the customisation get a bit heavier with Zartan. For the 4th bike, I missed a sticker set. So why not use Groove's? That set was meant for a white police bike, but it work here. I created a new head using a 2007 Movie Bumblebee head. I had to grind it into shape so the combiner peg still work. Then I painted it. Finally, I swapped his pin-wheel weapon for the combiner feet who also serve as police lights.






Now for the torso.

What would be the best vehicle to work with motorbike that are deluxe sized and still be in scale? There is none available. At all.

So I had to make my own. Using the PotP Hun-Gurr as a base and Energon Roadbuster as the main parts donnor, I made a "DOOM BUGGY". A Buggy that is massive and will crush anything in it's path.

I present to you, Compaktor!







Compaktor dosen't need any weapon. He IS the weapon. Especially when he take the ape pose to be more effective at crusing everything on his path. As you saw, he keep the PotP fists as part of his body.





The vehicle mode is huge. It was a lot of work. It's mostly the torso mode but with a few extra steps. It work really well.

Now time to combine into ROADTRASHER!

The bike-cannon can only go on his arm because his hand and elbow are too weak to handle the weight. Still, it work!















Finally, a shot with the original unmodified mold. Roadtrasher is HUGE.



So, what you guys think?

Looks pretty good. A bit lanky in combined mode but still good. The paint looks good and the alt mode makes sense.

I didn't care for the Reprolabel sets for PotP Wreck Gar. Not that they even made enough anyway as I have eight of him. Three sets wouldn't cover it.

As for the loose joints, have you tried Kiki yet? It works great on all the combiners I've used it on so far. They can even hold up deluxe figures in their arms now provided the shoulder joint holds up. But even that too can be tightened.

I'm on my third bottle now. It works better on some joints and plastic types that others. However after a few more applications, I've been getting the results I want. Just drip or smother the joints in the stuff and move the joint around to make sure it coats everything and wait for it to dry. Everything you put it on should be a lot tighter. It dries clear and doesn't stain the plastic. It does leave some flaky crust behind though that just comes right off. Also, when moving the joint around after it dries, a bunch of dried flakes will come from the joint. Not a big deal or anything but it can be a tad messy.

I've used it on all kinds of figures and it seems to work on them all. Bandai Digivolving Digimon, MMC, FPJ, Zeta Toys, CW/UW, PotP, TR/TL, Siege, ER, Cyberverse, KOs and others. I haven't tried it on my Figuarts, Figma, Marvel Legends, Revoltech, Play Arts Kai, Bring Arts or anything similar yet since most of them are packed away at the moment and the ones that are out, don't need it.

Combined mode have dificulty standing because the original Ratchet joints of the Hun-Gurr mold are not strong enough for all that added weight. Oh well.

I mean, 30$CAN shipped for a single tiny bottle...

For now, I'll just have to be patient using Pledge Floor Finish. One of the Wreck-Garr knee was floppy and dousing some Pledge over that joint did fixed the issue. Pin joints are the worst.

Shame that shipping is crazy high to Canada. This stuff really works and quick.

I was going to suggest trying to get a friend or family member nearest to you in the US get you some but then I remembered that there are travel restrictions going on.

I'm deep in Florida where pretty much nothing has changed since the lockdowns so it's easy for me to forget that other parts of the country and world actually take what's going on seriously.

Plus, this bottle is a chemical. Even if they say they ship internationally, there's a change it get stopped at customs and get sent back. Rules and all...

I made many more huge "scrap mutants" projects like this. But Photobucket ate all the pictures when they became dicks and my old computer committed sudoku last month so all my old pictures are lost as well.

I'll have to take new pictures and make some new threads to show them again.

I must say, after hearing that, I am now inspired to create my own scrap mutants. And no worries on the computer, my hp committed sudoku 5 months ago. Admittedly, I did have a joke once, where I was going to combine all my bumblebees into a giant airship, but I didn't have the time =P However, I am working on my own non-combiner, who is simply known as Racer(or in technical terms, Racer42, for he is the 42nd Racer), a short, stocky, red bot who has a cyberverse bee head. His alt mode(which I sadly cant make...) would be a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse Base model.

Now,I do have a planned base I can work with. Remember Earthrise Cliffjumper? Well, his alt mode is a close ancestor to the Eclipse, the Starion(Minus the Porsche back).Now, I dont wanna just add a new head and just close it off, I wanna sorta change his looks up a little bit. Such as different tires, blackened windows,and even a completely new weapon! Yeah, ok, just a re-tool in the end, but when I finish, I will be proud of it.

That sound pretty awesome! You'll have to make a thread in the customs forum once you are done. And for that Cliffjumper, use the fact that the roof and back of the car is partforming. You could mod that shell into anything to make a bad-ass Mad-Max vehicle!

Also, a hint to make fun mutant transformers that actually transform. Think about the vehicle you are making first. Then work your way up to the robot from there. A technique is to fuse two bots, like the Energon duocons. Take the lower half of a bot and the upper half of another bot and then fuse. Take things that are "compatible".

Another thing I love to do is to take a main body and just change the arms, legs, and head. Some bots are pretty easy and fun to mod that way like the underapreciated 2007 voyager Starscream mold. I made 4 crazy customs this way. It's relatively eazy to do and pretty fun.

And finally, the COMPLETE mutant. Individual parts that you completely build together. Those are the ultimate challenge. I made 2 of those so far and there's a 3rd one on hiatus since a few years. I should get back to it.

I may not make him mad max like, but that has been a idea for a certain figure..(Im looking at you, cybertron downshift)More or less, he will look fairly weathered and slightly rusted, for he is meant to look as though he has been through hell and back. The current progress will pictured here. Currently, for the weapon, he is carrying a bluestreak shoulder cannon as his weapon(It will definitly have a burnt out look later on)The upper arms, I scratched up a little bit to show some weathering and battle damage.I may sand down the head slightly to create that sorta bumblebee type head.And as for paint, I will mix the current paint with a darker maroon to show the illusion of primer showing, or maybe just some basic weathering.

Nvm on the picture, the webcam on my chromebook is pretty shotty, and wont show the scratches or the slight weathering on the chest. But the parts forming aspect does give me a idea... What if I were to get a 2nd cliffjumper and convert the back in vehicle mode into a entire war shell, like a temporary tank shell or something?Dont know how I would incorporate it into my stories, but I will find a way.

Oddly enough, the whole idea started when my buddy Wagner made his own transformers story with me.I decided to make racer for the story, and he made well... Wagnerus.(Little backround on Wagnerus, he is training to be the next prime)Racer was more or less his partner. The two are, of course, autobots.You know, maybe Racer could meet the junkions one day...
