I still think Hasbro should remold Optimal Optimus into Jhiaxus




Day 607 of waiting for Transformers Armada Masterpiece news.

He would have to gain some prominence for them to commit a figure that size to Jhiaxus. They tend to forget the other Decepticon(Cybertronian Empire) leaders that aren't Overlord or have 'Tron' in their name.

This Commander Class Motormaster intrigues me. On their own, the Stunticons might be cool enough for me to purchase just one or two, but if this goes for a full on combiner AND it looks good, might go all in!

This also begs the question, how will MM use the CC price point? Will it be just a satisfyingly hefty and big truck cab that has combiner limb support built in a third mode? Or will he be still nice and chunky but with a trailer that become the attachment points for the torso?

Or wild man third option, none of them will combine and just have really good single modes Which seems borderline illogical given .. us .. but stranger things and all that.

I don't see why they would remake him and have him not be a more accurate G1 rendition with the cab and trailer.

There is no point is going commander class if it isn't the cab and trailer. But I can see this potentially being a weird design where the cab is really the simple/extra piece. If they go for toon accuracy, then the cab really only shows up as Motormaster's shoes in bot mode.

If they make the cab detachable from the trailer, then they just have to make it split in half and collapse into itself to be Motormaster's shoes. This would also give the alt mode an articulated trailer. The trailer then just has to be most of Motormaster and however much of Menasor's torso/limbs they got for with this design.

My prediction: Motormaster is just the cab, with the trailer turning into Menasor's body so he has the stupid G1 look where all of the cars are just stuck on his limbs

If they go that route, he'll actually be an easy pass for me, along with the 4 deluxes.

Even though the concept is stupid, I think I'd be still very interested in getting "cartoon accurate" Stunticons without having to pay a zillion dollars for an unofficial 3P option.

I am pretty sure that's how it will be. As I wrote above, there is no point to not go full g1 now since anything less would not be a big enough change from CW to make this worthwhile to exist and buy again.

There's plenty of ways to improve upon CW Menasor without going to the ugly cartoon design. Specifically the OX design which is a much better adaptation.
Motormaster will probably be the cab with the trailer serving to beef up Menasor instead of being all of Menasor.

There is also a fourth option: what if Motormaster has the kinda-erroneous double-trailer he had sometimes in the cartoon, so he can have a full cab-and-trailer transform into him because accuracy and then the second trailer does combiner/extended play pattern stuff to fill the Commander Class?

I was also thinking that, the only flaw is the robot mode scaling (which is apparently a deal-breaker to some people). Though they could go the nightmarish route of the front trailer being panels that condense...

If the trailer(s) don't form Motormaster at all, maybe they can become a sorta power-suit. Either way, I hope the trailer(s) can at least store a Stunticon or two.

I wonder if the little baby car will be included this time, or if they'll make it a core class figure like last time (if at all).

Which figures? The Stunticons and Motormaster?

Stunticons are set to be in the Deluxe price point, and Motormaster is a Commander Class figure.

Actual size, has not been mentioned however.

And honestly, the sizes of the new Stunticon team members is anyone's guess at this point. They could literally be anything and any size, there's no good ruler to use anymore (not a gripe just an observation). At the very least I'm thinking the combining gimmick will be less intrusive then the Scramble City-esq Combiner Wars version

Hasbro retained Titanmasters, I don't see why they'd get rid of CW compatibility. People always say it's incredibly intrusive but it's just a knob that folds out. It however did get intrusive on PotP figures because it feels like the knob was an "oh crap we forgot that" part of the design.

And how else would they do combiner limbs without just making the same thing again?

Honestly, we never know with Hasbro. We now have three basic Combiner systems:
- Energon
- FoC Bruticus
- Combiner Wars

Combiner Wars is the odd one of the three, by having the male plugs on the limbs and not sticking out on the torsos. I wonder if that was structurally an improvement or just aesthetics.

You forgot the father of it all, G1 Scramble City. Plus there's the Power Core Combiners.

Still, if Commander Motormaster combine with his trailer to become the giant combiner, I suspect that all of his trailer limbs will be hollow to allow the cars to "park" inside. I would be perfectly fine with that design.
As for the lone Motormaster, the trailer could become some sort of "base" while the bot could have faux parts to have his "trailer shoes".

I'll give you PCC, as I was only counting the "modern" systems.

I'd argue that the CW system was an update of G1, which may have been the point.

Agreed, also probably why I loved it so much, flaws and all. I remember the Energon Combiners came out in 2004. They were not bad by any means, but I got them mostly because I figured we would never get combiners in the spirit of the originals ever again, or even to that wide a range of characters. I am glad I was wrong.

I still hope it gets used on future toys, where applicable.
