i just happened to check my routers settings to find out they have all been wiped and reset... after much work everything seems smooth. though hitting the back button isnt instant, its much faster.... i think some of the lag i am getting is from the file server i host. but things seem much better off. i will tweak it later.

There are a few things that I do with the site's styling that make older browsers crash or run slow, though those problems don't seem to affect IE8, IE9 and IE10. The transparency of the site's dropdown menus at the top of the page can make older browsers act wonky as well as the subtle gradient that goes over the main content area's background and the gradient that is in the footer. These would be the first things that I would investigate to make sure that I've got those CSS classes setup properly, but they've been that way for the past 2 or 3 years so it shouldn't be a new problem.

In my original post in this thread g1-galvatron-in-dr-who-t94327.php I used the word "kit-chen" (without the hyphen), but when the post is published it is changed to "place to cook food". Though when I click edit it remains as kit-chen.

Thought that maybe it was Firefox but checked and Chrome does the same.

Anyone know why?

It's part of the spam filter. That particular word was added as we were getting a number of spambots that were advertising for them.

It seem that the auto-Emails that notify replies to the threads I posted is quite erratic. Sometime, I get the mails "late" but most of the times, I dont have them at all.

Is it a bug or I am doing something wrong?

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Unknown column '$forum_id' in 'where clause' [1054]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

I got this when I was trying to reply to Seib's latest test posts. Then I noticed it double posted my response to his thread. I refreshed the page after I got this message which probably caused the double posting.

This problem was fixed earlier today. I was experiencing the same issues while testing the new code changes I implemented today. Thank you for letting me know though. I appreciate it. :D

Thanks to your post, I spent most of my day today rolling out a slew of changes which tackle this problem that has bothered me as well for the past 5 or 6 years.

Your specific issue seems to be a slightly different issue than the one that I resolved. It sounds like your email provider is blocking emails or marking them as SPAM. Any chance you can check your SPAM folder to see if that's the case?

Also, please let me know how you like the changes that I implemented in this news topic: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-forum-and-news-section-features-to-help-members-engage-in-discussions-on-seibertron/27245/

Okay, one minor issue after the subscription notification upgrade:

Previously, when I would be on a computer where I am not automatically logged into the forum, I would check my e-mail, click the link to the forum that was updated, then be able to log into the forums and go right to the new post.

Now, when I click the link, I am just taken to the first page of the thread. I can login, then go back to my e-mail, click the link and be sent where I want to go. So, once I'm logged in, everything is fine.

Is it possible to get a login screen when clicking on the e-mail link?

Thanks!

They new email notification uses a different link than the old notification used. I adjusted the new notification so that it would contain the old link and the new one ... that way you can use whichever you prefer. Let me know if the new changes work better for you or if it's too many choices. Thanks.

Anyone else just get an email from the forums with the subject "No e-mail subject specified"?

Yes, and the email itself appears to be entirely blank

(edited because it appears I've forgotten basic typing/spelling...)

I'm getting quite a few emails from threads that I no longer follow as well as the blank ones.

Yes, and the notification e-mail from this thread came in blank too.

(P.S. Thanks for your work on this, Seibertron. I know programming can be frustrating at times.)

The ones that you no longer follow you will need to unsubscribe to.

It should be working correctly now. Please let me know if you are continuing to receive errors. Thanks.

Ah, I see the difference. I just tested your change. Indeed, if I connect from a computer where I am not already logged in and use your new link that finishes "=unread#unread" I get the first page. If I click the other link, then I get the login screen and and then proceed to the topic, right at the first new post. Awesome!

Thank you, Sir!

No Seibertron mails in my junk folder. If it were possible to totally nuke mails and block them completely, I would have gotten rid of a few spambots by now.

Yes. Getting a lot more emails from Seibertron than I was getting before. Some are for old discussions.

Sorry, while we're on this topic, how exactly would one go about unsubcribing (ie stopping email notifications from) a specific thread, such as, say, the toy haul thread which is doing a good job of flooding my email inbox right about now
Thanks in advance.

At the very bottom of the thread there should be an "Unsubscribe" link.

There is also an unsubscribe link in the notification e-mail.

Cheers!
