That's not the only one though. There are 5 such Mecha in that series alone. Go Google Toqger and ToQ-oh ;)

And that one (or the ones JelZe mentioned) hasn't ever come to the States yet.

I looked them up Jelze, they dont look tha great. They look pretty obvious, and by that I mean that it just looks like trains stacked next to eachother, unlike Raiden or JRX who have a bit more style to them and look like their own robot once combined.

And Sabrblade, could it be that they never get sold here? Or is it usually a good bet that power ranger toys issued in Japan will find their way here?

All depends on whether Saban will adapt ToQger or not. Before Dino Charge, it seemed like a no brainer that they will. But now, having skipped Go-Busters in favor of adapting Kyoryuger, it's anyone's guess. Especially because of, well, this.

Man, I am so out of the Super Sentai loop. I LOVE YOU JAPAN!

I remember first coming on the boards a year ago before I knew anything about Beast Wars neo, or masterforce or G2, G1 toys that didnt appear on the cartoon, or he comics, and people would write things that made sense to everyone and just sounded chinese (Japanese, ha!) to me. Now I know more and can join the conversations because I know what people are talking about. But your last paragraph, as clear as it may seem to some, reads to me as if its from a totally different language and I cant make heads or tails of it. Its just to show that as soon as you know some stuff, you realize how little you know about more things. I do understand that the states would want to see a giant boner on the show though, that was simple enough to understand.

Dino Charge is the latest PR series, adapted from Kyoryuger. Before it came Super Megaforce, adapted from Gokaiger. However, Japan got one more series in between Gokaiger and Kyoryuger, which was Go-Busters. Originally, Saban was under contract from Toei to not skip any Super Sentai series when adapting them for Power Rangers, but now, Go-Busters is the first Sentai series to have been skipped (the reasons behind this skip are said to be how much of a serious critical and commercial failure Go-Busters was in Japan). Thus, it's up in the air if Saban will adapt the next Sentai series to come after Kyoryuger, which is ToQger, of if they will skip it and go for the next one after it like how Go-Busters got skipped.

What we're trying to say is that Saban and Bandai may choose to skip ToQger as well, and given what the series is about, I wouldn't blame them. It's really weird, all of the attacks are based on IMAGINATION (basically the power that can make anything you think of happen). Case in point: every monster is finished with a unique IMAGINATION effect, the first was crushed under a pile of crying children's statues. And another ended up in a game of Whack-A-Mole... as a Mole

Thanks Jelze and Sabr! I understand now. Was ToQger a commercial success? And , more importantly, were the toys any good?

I can't comment on the series, but I know the toys may seem like nothing at first, but they will grow on you. If you have seen the combined messes of the older series (Like RPM, Samurai, Go-Busters), fear not, the ToQ mecha hardly suffer from what I call "Randomly Placed Kibble Syndrome", though the several combinations take some getting used to. I will warn you that the Big Mech of the series, Hyper Ressha Teioh, is a brick. A real brick, think Grandus-like brick.

On the side, this is one of the series where hunting down the smaller, less expensive model kits (called Minipla kits) is definitely worth your while. They all feature more articulation than their DX counterparts, and are just fun to mess around with. If you're interested, here are some fun YouTube videos showing off the DX and Miniplas, coutery of YouheiDX:

DX ToQget playlist
Minipla ToQger playlist

Don't worry, no Japanese is spoken aside from the sounds coming from the toys.

Debatable, the suits weren't very Power Ranger-y, more realistic. Also, and I haven't watched enough to be sure, but most of the antagonists were monsters in human disguise, in other words, it'd be very hard to integrate the footage. Also the Buddy-Roids were a problem, they were integral to Go-Buster-Oh and it's components, so good luck fitting a Transformer ripoff, a R2-D2 bunny and a robot gorilla into an American show. And, in my opinion, the mecha were horrible looking.

I love how this topic turned into a Sentai/Power Rangers discussion. At last year Power Morphicon when asked if Saban will adapt Toqger he said that he thought the suits were pre-schoolish and was concerned that American children don't like trains and that trains were not a major mode of transportation in the U.S. He was going to wait and see what the next series was like which we now know is Ninninger.

...which for all intents and purposes is similar to Samurai and easier to adapt.

Ok, back to Shinkalion... uhm... I want him! :x

Yes, because Orientalism is so much better than trains... What is this, the fourth Super Sentai series based on Ninja?

3rd, after Kakurenger (Alien Rangers) and Hurricaneger (Ninja Storm). Tied with the Dinosaur-based and Car-based ones, if I may add.

Ah! I was close. I have been really out of the loop in regards to Super Sentai post-Shinkenger and Gokaiger.

Wait, there have only been 3 dinosaur ones? I always thought that was the man theme they would go back to again and again. But I havent watched this stuff since I was 10 so I have been out of the loop.

The Car, Dinosaur and Ninja themes have been recurring regularly, think once every 10 years or so. The Car theme or a similar one is traditionally used for every 10th Anniversary.

All this Sentai talk and trains reminded me I need to go back and watch the rest of ToQger and I've already started Nininjer. Maybe I just didn't like ToQger that much but the Minipla do tempt me.

Wait which thread am I in again??? Something Trains???. You could say this thread got Derailed
