What oh megatron lost his head since when do robots need those.optimus lost his arm but he didn't bleed to death though it's a nasty injury i bet he could get it back why can't starscream and megatron get their heads back. heck they could make the new ones look like g1. hey even better put megatrons head on shockwaves body and "Behold galvatron"!!!
I didn't see any sparks extinguished except mabe Sentinel Prime.guess that means he's done right?Oh wait that happened to optimus in ROTF.
I say unicron sends some decepticons to get the matrix and he uses it to revive everybody heck bring back the Fallen,Soundwave, BrAwl, Jazz, ironhide, laserbeak, grindor and osama bin laden( just kiddin about that last one).Really whats the worst that could happen? The franchise becomes ridiculous? It already has.
Who needs a reboot? This isn't star trek or batman. Why not take all the insanity and find a way to make some consistency for this and all the previous transformers generations this could be it they just need to come up with some crazy event like in comicbooks. Then it could all be at least somewhat constistent were all continuities were relevant. This is my dream for Transformers.
But whatever they'll probably reboot it and make a bunch of new toys and nobody will care. and the next will be as silly as the last and still be amazing too right? It's not like the vast majority of the fans won't outgrow transformers anyways and a new generation of kids will fall in love with the rebooted franchise. i mean the formula is proven and tested. only the adult fans will care about the inconsistencies. But are vastly outnumbered by the kids.

Yeah it wouldn't be hard for Unicron to just revive most of the Decepticons. That would be a cool story for a fourth movie. They could touch on the Fallen and say he was wanting to destroy planets to power up Unicron, and that would help connect this Universe better. The Matrix could be pivotal in destroying Unicron, many more favorite characters could be involved, and it could take place in space with very few humans. I'd at least like to see Unicron before a reboot.

Regarding the final scene, I must have totally misinterpreted and misheard what was going on. After disabling Sentinel, I thought Megs said to both Primes "All I ever wanted was to be back in command." I took this to be an explanation to Sentinel as to why he just got shot in the back. Based on that comment, it seemed clear that he was still the same old power-hungry Megs who would never accept anyone else ahead of him in the food chain. It appeared to me that Megs was approaching Prime to fight, not to surrender. I never heard the "truce" comment, but obviously I missed it because so many others did hear it. Without the "truce" comment, I felt that Optimus was justified in his attack and that Megs was taken offguard because he never expected Optimus to attack without being physically provoked.

I'm obviously projecting my view of what was going on in Optimus' head as well as 27 years of knowing these characters and expecting their next move. In various series/stories/fan discussions he has been accused of not being able to make the death blow against the Cons. He's even been accused of being part of the reason for why the war has lasted so long and why the Bots were never to overcome the Cons. Sentinel makes comments to this effect earlier in the film, saying that Optimus was the bravest of the Bots but could never make the tough decisions. I think that this comment, combined with the lost of a close friend and the threat of losing yet another place called "home" finally pushed Optimus to make decisions differently. Like others have said, I think that this could have been explained by having Optimus and Sentinel talk after Optimus kills Megs but before he slags Sentinel. Something like this would have worked:

<Prime kills Megs>

Sentinel (offscreen): "Well done Optimus! You have finally learned to make the tough decisions."

Optimus: "There is a difference between making a tough decision and making the wrong decision. I came to accept long ago that Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost. Too much would have been left at risk had Megatron and the Decepticons been given a chance to rise again. For the sake of the remaining Cybertronians and for those on this planet, I had to extinguish his spark."

Sentinel: Again, your actions come from your need to protect these humans. <voice rising in anger> You would kill your own to protect these insects??? <shouting> You would doom your own race to extinction to save a race of savages???

Optimus: Members of this race have saved me from death. When I was killed in battle by Megatron, the risked their lives to restore my spark. I owe them more than you can possibly imagine. You taught me that freedom was the right of all sentient beings. You have betrayed the very virtues that you instilled in me. You destroyed one of your oldest and most loyal soldiers in cold blood and were willing to kill us all for your twisted desires. This planet does not have the technology to incarcerate you. You leave me with no choice. You must be taken offline.

I think something like this would've made a true-to-character ending of the film for Optimus. What do you think?

I agree it would have helped to have that dialogue, but it seems like they were rushed to finish the movie or something. I still agree with Optimus' decision to execute them both, even though Megs is my favorite. They deserved it and he was at his absolute limits and weakened, so he couldn't hesitate.

Rehashed G1 story ... meh.

It was a decent movie though. Optimus has been a bit of a mixed character. Acts all authority like but quick to turn over leadership ... even seems to doubt himself at times then goes full metal psycho but can't get out of a few wires without help from others.

Saw this movie yesterday and whilst I though the previous 2 were utter trash this was probably the better of the 3 and I really enjoyed it. It's the usual leave your brain at home and just watch lots of fast paced action whilst drooling into your popcorn type film that we have come to be familiar with and expect from Bay and the TF movie franchise but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. I read a review in a newspaper today that gave the movie 0 out of 5 stars which I thought was very harsh and wondered if they watched the same movie as me as I would have gave it a 3/5 personally.

Also, I think it was a nod to the first movie-games' decepticon ending:

I was surprised with the Shuttle incident, bringing up memories of when that actually happened.

Can someone answer this, what happened with the other decepticons around the world?

And as far a negative reviews, as we all know you can't please everyone either you like the Transformers or you don't.

I totally enjoyed the ride!! The theater I went to was sold out, crowd enjoyed the movie and applauded at the end!

I know that alot of people didn't like that Ironhide was killed (he was one of my faves too), but it was essential to create suspense later on in the film. After IH was killed, in my mind, no one was safe. So when Bee et al were on their knees about to be executed by Soundwave, you really didn't know how it was going to play out. For me, the feeling of not knowing what was coming was well worth losing one of my favorite Bots. Besides, this is the last movie of this series (let's hope for another set soon), so it's not like they were saving anyone for the next movie.

It's weird, everyone keeps sayin' everyone applauded at the end, no one in my theater did, just left. And that was opening night. I'm not quite sure why people clapped. I mean, I saw Super 8, and it was amazingly good and the whole theater was into it, and no one clapped at the end of it, nor at the end of Green Lantern. Not sure why (even if you liked the movie) people are clapping at the end of this one.

Fare enough, but no need for me to say it happened if it didn't I'm not getting payed by Bay.

Who knows why people are applauding & cheering at the end? Maybe because they like the series, became engrossed in the film, just had a good time? You have to ask them.

I remember seeing a clip on youtube and someone was recording the previews of upcoming films, I don't remember if it was 2 or 3 but people were clapping. And these were previews.

In fact that's really my only complaint, so much happened so fast that I didn't get a chance to retain all of it. On the plus side though that will make repeat viewing more enjoyable.

I thought the same thing when I first watched DOTM. I thought to myself "I thought this going to mes going to be more exciting than this. Then I let the movie sit. And the more I thought about it the more I loved it. Then I saw it a second time and got the same feeling I expected to get the first time I saw it.

I couldn't figure out why I was so, "meh" about it all, when in retrospect, every piece I came to remember, I loved.

To more recent posts:
I live in a retirement community, so my theater, which is already pretty small, wasn't very full (I don't expect any sort of adrenaline/action film does well at this location), but my mom did clap. I also was startled and like, wah? She said she thinks she may like it better than the first two. I usually trust my folks as a good representation of the general populous' first reaction to TF films, because regardless of my fan-membership status, it doesn't leak through to them , so they're pretty much unspoiled or TF-biased in any way. I don't understand it either, but apparently Bay and co. do (hence any & all success)? XD

I normally don't, but I did after the first Spider-Man. The theater was packed and everyone did and it just took hold. Sometimes you just go with the flow and it happens.

As it stands, the standing ovation was well deserved.

My wife and I just returned from our trip to Orlando. Yesterday was our first-year anniversary and we went and saw it during the day. I will say it was a great film and a lot better than the first two as I still have a low opinion on both of those films. However, I am confused by the fact that the Decepticons have been planning the plot of DotM for fifty years and it wasn't until the third film that they used this plan. In my opinion, the plots of the first two films and this film are so disjointed that it isn't really a trilogy. Megatron was so ready to take back his leadership of the Decepticons at the end of this film, but he acted like a puppy with the Fallen. That is more so, in my opinion, the fault of RotF rather than DotM. It took them three times, but I am glad that there is finally a live-action TF film that I enjoyed and would watch again.

While yes the action sequences, and the robot fighting is awesome, the destruction is in awe inspiring grand scale, and the robots are very cool, that's all I can find to like about this movie.

Their plot is almost non existent, the flow of the movie gets abruptly stopped in several places by the god awful comedic scenes with the parents and the office. Which most of the time aren't that funny. And the sad under developed characters, you hardly get to know any of the transformers. Also editing is very very badly done. That scene with Sentinel mashing the Nest compound and then suddenly driving off in truck mode is baffling to say the least.

Also what was up with John Malkovich's Character, I mean he can deliver so much more than that. He would have been better as Archeville. And Dr. McDreamy seriously not believable as the bad guy, I'm sorry. Though He does work as the guy to steal the hot girlfriend away from Shia.

By the way I did think Ironhide's death scene at the mercy of the Cosmic Rust from Sentinels weapon was awesome, and very much not appropriate for children.

Anyway the movie left me wanting more characterization for many of the transformers mainly Soundwave and Shockwave. Why is Leadfoot a fat plumber stereotype. with the visible butt-crack, seriously is that supposed to be funny?

And can someone explain why Megatron suddenly goes into Robot depression, and just sits out the final battle until Rosie manages to reverse Psychology him into attacking Sentinel. That was really really strange to me, as up to that point he had been the master behind the entire Sentinel deal. And since when is Megs concerned about his planet, he just wants to conquer all, not save his planet.

Anyway, I don't think its a good movie, just a summer popcorn flick. But sadly I found you need a lot of TF knowledge before hand to get more than half of the movie.

And u think that Ironhide's death scene was awesome? i gathre he's not ur favourite character.. if not appropiate for children, i wont like it at all... as Ironhide IS my favourite character... I know in the book he dies from Sentinel's cannon that shoots that Cosmic Rust and dissolves Ironhide.   That scene may stick w/me for a long time... probably have nightmares from it. hmph!

I saw DOTM in 3D, which I think is definitely the way to go if you can afford it. It's hard to beat the first film in any series, but this at least tied it. It didn't feel like the story was rushed and lacking detail, which I felt was ROTF's weakness. The lack of the presence of Megan Fox was greatly appreciated by me, although I know others feel differently. Yeah, she's pretty, but her acting was so lacking that it was safer to keep her character as nothing more than a love interest and as someone attractive to fill character space. The character of Carly was more relevant to the plot and, even being her first movie, I thought Rosie Huntington-Whitely was a much better, more involved actress. Of course, I also liked that we saw less of Sam's parents in this film, but I like them being in the film anyway as they provide more of an innocent silly type of comic relief. I didn't find much crude humor in this movie other than the restroom scene, as most of the humor seemed innocent, which I enjoyed.
Okay, let's move onto the robots. The first thing that caught me was that we got two totally new characters: Que and Dino. I was originally hesitant to accept the names, but since they had no connections to past characters, and seemed more original. Sentinel Prime's role was a shocker, which probably left children horrified watching a "hero" mercilessly kill our old friend Ironhide, then watch his body dissolve, but then again his role made the film more interesting. The Wreckers were a relief to me, as they weren't portrayed as stupid...er...(insert "r" word), but instead all had different distinct personalities. Optimus Prime was still heroic, and Megatron was still evil and power hungry, which ultimately became his biggest weakness. Starscream was still a coward, which also finally caught up with him. Shockwave was menacing, merciless, and powerful, but fell short on brains for survival. Of course, the biggest surprise was Barricade, who shows up near the very end. Soundwave was more prominent than in ROTF, and proved to be hard to avoid, and even more so to his sidekick Laserbeak (who, by the way, is nothing like the toy). The Dreads were nothing more than weapons to hold back the Autobots, but proved to be weak.
Oh! The plot...I forgot. Well, it's basically the Decepticons' last resort to gain power after failing to gain the Allspark or harvest Energon from the Sun. Megatron basically wants to bring Cybertron to us so he can use US as SLAVES to rebuild Cybertron which will be ruled by HIM. Not cool, Megs, NOT cool. Of course, Sentinel Prime's in on it too, hoping to also rule Cybertronians and Earth's flesh creatures alike under the rebuilt Cybertron. It isn't until Carly gets into the over confident, tuckered out Megatron's head by making him consider himself as Sentinel's...beeotch, causing Optimus and Sentinel's battle to diverge which gives Prime the chance to kill both of the Decepticon supervillains, which I thought was the highlight of the film: the girl has the guts to face Megatron and stare him straight in the eyes.
So, in summary, I think the plot was more developed than the first two, as we don't really go through twenty minutes of nothing before we realize what the big "uh oh" is. We get, human vs. human, robot vs. robot, and human vs. robot. The Transformers have a larger presence, but not so much that the humans become irrelevant. The girl isn't a background tagalong, the tone is more serious, and, if you're a really big TF fan, it may be slightly emotional. It didn't feel as loud as ROTF, but I didn't get distracted from the movie anyway. But it was good enough for the audience to applaud...a sound I haven't heard in a theater since 2007.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

That scene may stick w/me for a long time... probably have nightmares from it. hmph!

I really have no feelings for him one way or another. Its not like he was really well characterized in the 3 movies. Or that I was invested in him. Yes I like his design, and attitude in the movies. I even own a few of his toys but the scene is awesome not because Ironhide dies, but because of how Sentinel actually puts him down, and how the Rust starts dissolving him. Hell it would have been just as awesome if he killed one of the wreckers, though I guess a little less powerful since no one cares about the Wreckers.

Why didn't Sentinel use that weapon on Prime?

Ha,yeah It was a one shoot/shoot e'm up type deal. one the canon was empty it was useless & could now be used a pipe or stick to slap bots around with.
