After buying a few incomplete G1 Metroplexes in order to have a 100% complete one (so much money "saved" doing it this way!
).
I even had one with a complete missing set of ratchets in a knee, and had the waist snapped in half! I repaired it for fun and I succeeded.
Then, I finally found a Leader Legacy Blitzwing for a reasonable price. But his huge clown gloves were silly and I never used them.
Then, I checked something and I was right: Those clown gloves were a PERFECT FIT on G1 Metroplex! Using these as a base for the colors, I decided to customise the repaired G1 Metroplex as SHATTERED GLASS G1 Metroplex. I also had an extra Six Gun and some leftover parts to use.
I know the "official" SG Metroplex is just Megaplex under another name, but mine is more unique, more "evil".
Then, what about the kneepads? Time to put those G1 Scramble City combiner ports to use.
I ordered 4 G1 Strafes from 4 different eBay sellers (damn that shipping
) and made them into his "harem of fembots" who he will use as armor and troopers. I bought some 3D printed weapons to complete them. The huge canons had to be glued on, but the small guns (from Reprolabels) fit fine in the painted fists (they were too loose otherwise). Small adapters were added to the Metroplex tower to use these small guns when the girls are not in bot mode.
Finally, a Spy Changer to serves as Scamper. Just adding a
on this Artfire and a gun mod was enough for the custom.
I had to disassemble everything before repainting. Then, removing and cleaning out all the old stickers. Once the paint was done, I re-assembled the lot. Then, some fresh Reprolabels to finish things up. The black on the Strafes is goopy because it rained on it.
Oh well.
Now, here's the bot mode:
Leftovers 6Guns can be a "vehicle" while SC Artfire is playing his role as SG Scamper without asking too much questions.
The Leader Legacy Blitzwing gloves fit snugly. Not too tight, not too loose. Just perfect.
Comparison with G1 Metroplex.
The girls in vehicle mode. Note that all the stickers that had "baby blue" on them (except the feet), I painted a thin clear red layer over them before applying.
The "Strafettes" in bot mode, with their gun in hand.
"Naked" base mode:
Fully armed:
All the gimmicks like the spring-loaded head and the car launcher still work perfectly.
The clown sleeves works well as a tower extention.
EDIT:I'm an idiot. I forgot to unfold this bit for the base mode.
While I was at it, I improvised a different configuration for the tower:
End of EDIT.Finally, the vehicle mode. ROLL OUT!
I'm very happy in how everything turned out. Despite how expensive that custom was to do, and how hard it was to disassemble and figuring out how to rebuild everything, I had lots of fun doing it.
Please tell me what you think!
