Rodimus Prime wrote:I saw it yesterday, and I liked it. It wasn't great, but it was entertaining enough. I haven't seen the original in about 10 or 12 years, nor was I ever a big fan of it, and I don't remember much about it so I can't compare the 2.

I think this is the key. This film looks interesting to me, but because of my love for the original, I refuse to see it. All they had to do was make it a sequel, but instead they had to reboot, and I refuse to support that in anyway.

And it wouldn't have taken much to do. Rather than utilising the old crew in different roles, they simply could have popped in at the start, and helped guide them along.

Instead, they went with the gender-swap-for-the-sake-of-a-gender-swap which has resulted in the old fans like us who WOULD have supported the movie, being made to look like a bunch of whiny sexist trolls.

And Leslie Jones has quit Twitter because of a torrent of racist sexist remarks directed at her.
(A part of me feels she could have just ignored it but instead has drawn attention to it, which no doubt will get people more curious to see the movie)

And Leslie Jones has quit Twitter because of a torrent of racist sexist remarks directed at her.

My inner conspiracy theorist has a hunch that it was actually done by paid shills as a smear campaign to make people who didn't like the movie look bad.

Simply put:

Ghostbusters movie sucks and flops.
>RESULTING IN
The naysayers (myself included) laughing at the pundits who shilled the movie and chortling "We told you so!"
>RESULTING IN
Sony/SJW brigade going into maximum damage control mode.
>RESULTING IN
Hired trolls being brought in to attack Leslie Jones.
>SONY HOPES THIS WILL RESULT IN
Backlash against people that didn't like Ghostbusters because of guilt by association ("People that hate Ghostbusters are just sexist racists like those bitter losers that ran the actress off of Twitter!").

Sony are the kind of scumbags that would do something like that, and given how fiercely the usual suspects have been trying to defend this mess of a movie, it honestly wouldn't surprise me. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the SJW brigade did this of their own volition even without Sony telling them to do it.

It's not a mess of a movie though.

It's not a great movie, but it's far from being a mess. It was a standard "origin" movie.

And for someone who may not have seen the original Ghostbusters movie (e.g. young kids), they'll really enjoy it.

I went and saw it because I didn't want to be one of those racist/sexist/narrow-minded individuals that simply wrote it off without even seeing it. Did I enjoy it? Sure, to a point, but overall it could have been better.

But definitely not a mess.

I watched it.....meh! some moments were amusing, tons of cameos(including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts & Ernie Hudson-who to me apart from Winston Zedmore....i will always remember him as the voice of Agent Fowler in TF Prime ;) ) i didn't like the new Ecto 1 siren(preferred the original....and don't know why they didn't keep it for this new Ecto 1?). the special fx were up to par, the movie overall was ok...ish!....but i wouldn't be breaking any legs in a rush to go out & see it, even if you happen to catch it on the internet somewhere or when it comes out on DVD/Blu Ray, as it's probably better served there.

Btw anyone watch the end of credits scene?
coz in it one of the team mentions Zuul, so i hope this doesn't mean that in the sequel we're getting a rehash of Gozer
