I was baptised Catholic, but I'm a Christian who doesn't belong to a denomination. If you don't mind me asking, you don't have to answer if you don't want though: Do you not believe in Catholocism or just Christianity in general?
Just curious.

I don't believe is organized religion. I like to take little bits and ideas from various religions and kinda make my own. I just go with the flow.

I'm a "soft" atheist (read: non-believer) and also not consciously superstitious. Technically I'm a member of the Swedish Church (protestant) but that's because I was signed up when I was baptised as an infant and simply haven't quit yet.

N/A

Saying atheism is one's religion is like stating bald is one's hair color, but, for philosophy, that's another story. Ration and reason to guide personal drive (think Niezstche) is the baseline for me, though I get much more complicated. Atheism is almost an afterthought.

I don't acknowledge any sentient or personal gods, unless someone means the abstract, like something of deep devotion or reverence (like the self in the Church of Satan), but can say I can quite calmly say the existence of any Judaic deity has been strongly refuted, though I don't think it requires any actual justification to say one doesn't, being that the burden of proof is on the claimer of the positive.

Though, on another note, many Eastern "religions"-- like Buddhism, Taoism, and Confusism-- equate themselves more to philosophies than religions. That's why you can have atheistic Buddhists.

No religion. I don't believe in god or prophets. I believe in Karma and kindness. I also believe in Primus :P (wow... sooo nerdy but I had to say it. I HAD TO!)

Atheist, raised one and I doubt that'll change. Though I do find religion's impact on people/societies quite interesting.

Or, in converse, the society's impact on the religion it generates. Like Hindu, which was originally generated by a ruling invading force in India, was greatly based on maintaining subservience and class structure, versus Christianity, which sprouted from a generally lower-class ethnicity that, although thinking they were destined for greatness, were beaten down time and time again, and in turn sprouted something that preached the raising up of the poor above the rich and powerful. To study a religion is probably one of the best tools for peering into the minds of thousands years of culture.

I practice Shamanism. I was raised to believe in a God, had friends who were Christian, so I wnet along for the ride, then became Greek Orthodox when my father "found God" or something.

Never really believed in the whole one all powerful God bit, so I never really went to church or followed the religion of my parents ect.

After moving I played World of Warcraft, and found the Shaman class intreguing(sp?), anyway, I got books on the subject and did alot of reading and found that Shamanism was the only religion that actually made sense to me. Had the same principles that I followed my whole life, things finally clicked, and so I decided I'd be a Shaman.

I have no religion.

As DR says athiest doesn't count as a religion as it's opposite to religion, but that's what I am. I'm not closed minded to the idea of religion, but I'd like to see some evidence to convince me to believe first.

Given that I still enjoy some of the myths and legends of old religions, such as the Greek, Roman, Egyption Norse and Anglo-Saxon gods.
If I did believe in a god of some form I'd most likely be a deist, pagan or wicca as those religions have a general sence of reverance for nature but don't worship a personal god.
As a boy I went to a CofE primary school and a secondary school with it's own chapel and chaplain! Even after all that christian stuff I have no fondness or reverance for the christian religion whatsoever. Even if I did believe in the bible, I'd probably be on the side of Satan not Yahweh (who IMO is arguably the most loathsome character in all fiction).

No, Pastafarianism is an unusual religion. Meeting one in real life is even moreso.

I'm generally what you'd call...well, I usually say Dynamic Omnitheistic Animist, however one can very easily cut that down to I make it up as I go along. Personally, I find organized religion to be too self serving and open to corruption for my tastes. That, and I really don't believe in the concept of Omnipotence. It implies an upper limit, breeds horrific unbalance, and totally negates the need for any sort of active presence.

I'm an ecclectic pagan. I guess I've yet to find my "religion," but I certainly have some beliefs. These I share with Wiccans and Shamans and Druids and others. Although there are aspects of each of these that I like, there are also aspects I dislike or that just don't "jive" with me, so I'll just stay "untitled."

Well it's not that unusual. Shamanism basically boils down to looking inside ones self for the answer, it's willpower at it's finest. The other aspect is talking with the spirits, you're spirit guide, being in touch with nature ect.

This may seem hokey to those who don't believe in spirits and all that, which is ok. However for me, it works, when you've had a staring match with something for over 30 minutes. Do I know what it was? Nope. Was it cool as hell? Damn right.

Anyway, it works for me.

a good suggestion indeed, as many of the american protestant denominations are relativly unknown outside of the US, other than being american pretestant churches

explaining ancient sumerian, well mine was an attempt at a joke and a pun, the pun being that my screen-name is in fact the name of an acient sumerian, and was used in alot of the faith logic debates pre board wipe.

i'm actualy a diest(well i have diest beleifs) in that i hold that religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world,(to be a proper deist i'd have to beleie that these feature did in fact reveal the existence of one god), so maybe i'm more of a potential polydeist, in that if a gods existence could be established through reason i'd beleive(well acknowledge the existence) of that god, however just because i ackowledge that god does not neccasarily prohibit the acknowledgment of other gods, if their existence could be proven through rational means.

Roman Catholic, and I practice, meaning I'm not one of those "Christmas Catholics" who only go to mass once a year. Heh.

Baptised, raised and schooled Catholic, but I didn't just swallow it, I spent a year or two "questioning" if it was right, and I foudn that everythign I beleive politically, morally, et cetera, was a perfect matchup to the teachigns of the RCC.

So essentially, being RC, works out damn well for me. Heh.
Something memorable here.

Except that I don't practice religion anymore. Sometimes I have moments where I really believe, and I have to admit, I like those moments. It makes the world so much easier to swallow.

But for the most part, I can't really swallow it.

But you can't prove God doesn't exist. It's logically impossible. So all the Athiests that claim, without the shadow of a doubt, that the universe was an accident and there's no God except in our heads, are no better than the devout Jesus Camp sheep they hate.

I have a hard time swallowing the divinity of the man who was called Yehoshua of Nazareth. He was one of many messiahs of the time. Christianity would have been quite obscure, perhaps even nothing more than a cult, if not for Constantine. You make an entire empire a certain religion for your own sake, and guess what happens, even after it falls? The history, to me, seems to debunk it.

But like I said, you can't disprove it. Maybe he really was the creator of all that we know come down as one of us. What do we really know about what's out there? Maybe it's all an experiment and God came down to stick his finger in the kettle for a moment.
