When this happens or what the new price is is unknown. But I have only one thing to say.

I knew it was going to happen!

My predictions, they'll drop it to no more than $500, no less than $400.

Oh really? I could have told you that, and thats what the guys at Gamestop are saying. I think it was kind of arrogant that Sony thought they could slap any price tag on their system and people would flock to it and Nintendo and Microsoft would just fall in sales.

Exactly. Cash is definately the factor in who buys what next-gen system. If it dropped to $400 I'd think about getting one if any good games come out for it. My local gamestop had a half-price sale on PS3s for a day, $300 for the good 1. Too bad I didn't find out til afterward.

Drop another 100 and I'll buy it. I really want one, but they're too damn expensive.

I just posted about this on Gamefaqs. I give it 10 minutes before I'm being flamed and charbroiled.

I had a good laugh at this. People who flocked out to get the system and the one single game that was decent are going to feel sooooo ripped off when in a year someone can go and get the same system for $100+ less.

I really do think the inital sales of the PS3 were pure hype. It was the hard core Sony fan boys, and the hype of the brand new system. "Hey I just got a PS3....". It was also the Christmas rush, the PS3 was the "top ticket" gift. There are plenty of parents that would get the "top ticket" item for their kids for Christmas. But now that the hype has died down, and the holiday season is over...a $600 system (+like what $50-60 tax?) + $60 games is just ridiculous and therefor sales have dropped quite a bit.

It's just to damn much money for the average gamer to handle. And I play my Xbox 360 quite a bit and buy lots of games, but I still would call myself the average gamer.

I think the reason people didn't flock to the system is for "once" people realized Sony didn't do to grand of a job. The Wii and 360>PS3

Nintendo will always be the true kings of gaming.

I'll buy a PS3 for one (or more) of these three reasons:

1) if I really, I really want to watch blu-ray movies

2) if there comes a point where the PS3 has a lot of killer games released

3) if my PS2 breaks down and I can't get it fixed or buy another one

Figures, Sony's been cocky about the PS3 since even before the release. I figured it wouldn't do so well, but I dont' want it too bomb, cause I like the PS2, and the PS1. Still, nothing I want on the system yet.

If they drop it, then maybe buying Metal Gear Solid 4 and Devil May Cry 4 will be sorta justified.

Though if they get ported to 360 (Rumors), all the better. Same games, only $100 less for the system to play them.

I should've added that if they can secure MGS4 and DMC4, and a few other games (Is Killzone 2 out yet?) PS3 may survive the Console Wars.

Funny thing about it...more than likely the other 2 systems will drop in price, too...still making the PS3 more expensive. personally, I'm pretty happy with my 360. I just got Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, & rented Gears of War & Dead Rising via Gamefly....so I', set for quite a while. Good thing to, because it's gonna be a few weeks before my tax refund is in where I can get a Wii....provided that I can find one to buy....

Would the Wii even have to drop it's price? Isn't it already only like $200?

Probably not, but if it did, it would give people that much more of a reason to get a Wii(& maybe a 360, too) instead of a PS3.

Wii is $250 right now. Nintendo refuses to sell for no higher.

It would eventually drop though. Give it a year or two before we see any actual drop. Nintendo's in a pretty good position with their price right now so they could spare a year and people will still buy because demand is so high, the current price is more affordable than the alternatives, and thier price would still be lower than or equal to an X-Box 360 by the time a price drop is called for.

Well, I hope they do lower the price on the thing. It's not because I want one though, it's because I keep reading that nobody expects Microsoft to drop the price on the 360 any time soon because of how much cheaper it is even now than the PS3. So, if a PS3 price drop will get me a 360 price drop I'm all for it.

This issue of VGCats explains why the Wii is selling well. The price helps, too.

If they were to match the price of the 360, and if they had some decent exclusives, I'd buy it. Even so, there are some PS2 games I'd like to get too. Katamari Damachi, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories...um, are there any other good games for PS2?

Dude, do you want me to list them all? I'm not going through the whole list, but I'll name some gems.

God of War
God of War 2 (Which isn't out just yet)
Shadow of the Collosus
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Final Fantasy 10 and 12 (11 was an MMO)
The Devil May Cry games
Metal Gear Solid 3
Soul Calibur 3
The Xenosaga games

And that's just a few exclusive Greatest Hits games.

I knew this was bound to happen. I recently read that the porn industry went with Hd-dvds over blu-ray.... can anyone say blu-ray is the new betamax? seriously

where was it posted about the porn industry in this topic? I reread it 2 times just to make sure it wasn't said and I don't even see it once.

besides, whats wrong with me voicing my opinion on this matter? :?
