Soundwave Minions for Kreon Scale 3D Models

Here's an attempt to create a Kreonified Laserbeak. He has about a 40 mm winspan and a disproportionately large head.

That's Kreonification for ya.

Image

In place of feet, Kreonbeak has a nice 4.85 mm port so he can sit on studs or bald Lego heads.

You wouldn't want Laserbeak without Rumble...or maybe Frenzy...it can be hard to tell the difference.

Image

I'm fairly certain I will have to revise this model. It is about half the height of an actual Kreon. There are no moving parts, and his feet are both on top of a single 4.8mm port for a peg. He also has a 4.8mm port on his back to allow for upgrades.

In theory, his extended hand should be able to hold a gun.

I have two other versions of this model that I'm working on. One has a head stem rather than an actual head so you can put whatever you want up there. I'm also trying to design detachable arms, allowing for potential articulation and possible replacement pile drivers. Thing is, this guy is so wee that I can't decide the most secure way to do it.

dude, these are awesome! I was thinking for the Frumble, is there enough room to put a lego peg on the shoulder and use that as your connection point? Also on the feet, is there enough space to the left and right of the port to sit the figure on a panel that has more than one peg?

Nice work on the face, I like his expression :)

I love the laserbeak, he's really cute. I would totally consider picking one of those up....

[brainstorming] :-? hmmn.. if his head could come off or flip back.. and he had the proper post on the bottom... he could be a jetpack upgrade for Kreons that have a port on their back :D

hmmn....

maybe he could have a groove 4.8mm wide under him so that he could fit onto standard pegs.. and his head could be 4.5mm wide and could flip down and fit into that groove and a short 3mm peg could be on top of his head that fits into the 3.1mm port on the back of kreon vests... not sure about the rotation joint yet, but could also parts form it.. that would be in keeping w/ the building theme anyhow.. lol[/brainstorming]

"Frumble" should be able to stand on a multi-peg brick or plate. His feet extend for 1.6mm on each side of the port.

Unfortunately, his shoulders are running a little to thin for a 4.8 mm peg. He's very, very tiny. In fact, I just decided to make his left arm (the non-extended one) connect directly to the body along its entire length because I'm afraid it is too fragile.

I like the idea of Laserbeak doubling as a backback. He already has a 4.8mm port down there, so he could easy attach to the back of the vests I put together. Trying to design a transforming head on this scale strikes me with a mortal terror, though. I could probably stick a 3mm peg in the well where his neck sits and then put a port in the base of his neck...although that seems like an invitation to lose his head.

these are beyond epic. once you get final builds hammered out and post them for sale let me know I will def take a test run on them lol

EDIT:

Just some after thoughts from my excitement..

for "Kreonbeak" what if for his lasers made it were could use the ones that attach to the Kreon's arms then can kinda mix them up a bit?

as for "Frumble" what about making it where can plug in the Kreon's hands?

I can understand your caution but don't underestimate the strength of the WSF.

Check this guy out by Arial Lemon/Fakebusker83: http://www.shapeways.com/model/229196/t ... terialId=6

it transforms, is more articulated than many deluxes and stands about 1.5 inches tall.

I have one of these guys (as well as 3 others of Arial Lemon's micro transformers) and he's very impressive.

So w/ that in mind, it might be worth it to try out some more complicated models :D

I was actually thinking of ordering Thugger...so it's good to know you like him. How well is the detail on it printed?

I'm going to have to work myself up to complicated models, though...Slow and steady wins the race. Plus, there are a heckuvalot more chest plates I gotta make once I see how the first batch turned out.

I got him in WSF and the detail on the chest and face is pretty obscured. The detail on not-ravage (purrdator) came out great though. If you look at the video linked on the thugger page, the reviewer got him in FUD and he looks pretty sharp.

I think the sky's the limit w/ the chest project. I'm really looking forward to seeing how those came out.

Ah, that makes me kinda nervous...Some of the details on the chest plates are working on pretty miniscule levels.

In other updates, it looks like an individual chest plate costs about $2.42 without any markup. But most of that is probably the handling fee, I would guess.

Coincidentally, our conversation about Laserbeak's head seems to have influenced the model...which loaded without a neck, apparently. So there you go.

I've adjusted the model and re-uploaded it.

well, for those that want the sharp details, they'll go for the FUD. given that you don't need to worry about things like ball joints or moving parts, that'd probably be the choice material anyhow.

that's about the same as the slope w/ peg parts, actually a little cheaper.. huh...

that... is hilarious.

You dirty, Ratbat!

Image

I didn't make his weapons yet...but I did include two 3mm ports so you could in theory supply your own.

He's perched atop a 4.8mm square (is he carrying off an energon cube, maybe?), so he should be able to clip into a peg.

Here's Laserb...I mean, the "Kondoreon Sidekick" micro figure in the Shapeways default plastic:

Image

And here's my homage piece to none other than Botch the Crab, or, as I like to refer to it for legal purposes, the "Krabeon Sidekick."

Image

And here's Soundwave with his new minions.

Image

That's a little guy I'm calling "Tremble" to the left of Soundwave. I couldn't get a decent shot of him alone, mostly because his features are too subtle. I've modified the 3D model to make them more pronounced...but he is very, very tiny.

these came out really nice indeed. I'd love to see how these would come out in FUD.

I'm guessing that Tremble is about the same as the little lego guys that come w/ those lego board games(?)

Me, too. I need to set up a kickstarter or something to fund these prototypes.

I didn't size it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were about the same proportions. I'd like to see their guys hold a blaster cannon as menacingly, though.

You and me both brother...

Tremble does look much cooler, they don't even get arms :D
